Management of the human microbiome is proving to be a powerful tool for health. But it is a critical factor for health that most healthcare providers and doctors do not get involved in. This makes new and exciting strategies to manage the individual microbiome a personal effort, one that people can manage without their doctors with potentially powerful results. Applied properly, management of the individual’s microbiome can increase skin thickness, accelerate healing, increase bone density, increase testosterone in males, and increase the hormone oxytocin, a phenomenon with a host of important health benefits that I shall discuss.
I shall further discuss how and why increased muscle is crucial for youth preservation and health and how some new concepts in cognitive exercise can decrease potential for cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s dementia, while even yielding improvements in abilities such as safe driving and reaction time.
William Davis, MD is cardiologist and author of the #1 New York Times bestseller, Wheat Belly: Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight and Find Your Path Back to Health, Wheat Belly Total Health: The Ultimate Grain-Free Health and Weight-Loss Life Plan, and two cookbooks, the Wheat Belly Cookbook and the Wheat Belly 30-Minutes (Or Less!) Cookbook, also NY Times bestsellers and, most recently, the Wheat Belly 10-Day Grain Detox. His books have sold over 4 million books in the North American market and are published in over 40 countries. Major national media appearances include the Dr. Oz Show, CBS This Morning, National Public Radio, and Live with Kelly (Ripa), featured on Bill O’Reilly and the Colbert Report, and in print media including the covers of First for Women and Woman’s World magazines, the New York Post, the Chicago Tribune, the Atlantic, and Women’s Health. Dr. Davis has built a substantial online presence on his Wheat Belly Blog (www. wheatbellyblog.com) with more than 28 million views since launch in September, 2011. There are also substantial followings on social media, including 300,000 followers on Facebook. More than a book, more than social media, the Wheat Belly phenomenon has proven to be a movement, growing over time and creating an audience eager for food solu-tions that are healthy, delicious, convenient and consistent with the Wheat Belly message.
Most recently, Dr. Davis’ new book, Undoctored: Why Health Care Has Failed You and How You Can Become Smarter Than Your Doctor has been released. This new book takes the lessons learned through the worldwide Wheat Belly experience and adds new concepts including how to harness the emerging power of crowd-sourced wisdom and new technological health tools. We are living in the dawn of an age when the health consumer can accomplish an astounding amount in regaining health on their own-without the doctor or healthcare system.
Dr. Davis is a graduate of the St. Louis University School of Medicine, with training in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease at the Ohio State University Hospitals, advanced training in angioplasty at the Case Western Reserve University Hospitals where he also served as Di-rector of the Cardiovascular Fellowship and Assistant Professor of Medicine. He now focuses on preventive care and providing self-empowering strategies to the public through his books and projects.

Reading some comments there seems to be some confusion on how to make this. Now that I’ve made this awesome yogurt twice, here’s my best advice: Buy an InstantPot - Amazon or Costco. 6-quart size is fine. About $60 bucks. Make sure you get one that has a Yogurt button/selection. Ingredients to Purchase: BioGaia (on Amazon), Inulin (health food store or Amazon), Organic Half & Half (supermarket or health food store). Crush 10 BioGaia tablets in a bowl. Add 2 Tablespoons of Inulin to the bowl and stir together. Add a small amount (1/4 - 1/2 cup) of Half & Half to the bowl. Thoroughly mix and make sure the crushed tablets and inulin are mixed well and there are no remaining lumps. Put this into the InstantPot. Add the remaining two quarts/half gallon of Half & Half and stir well. (I use 3 quarts - it makes more). Close the InstantPot and push the “Yogurt” button. This will give you 3 setting choices- Low, Normal or High. Choose NORMAL. Set it for 36 hours. (That’s a day and a half later.) “Normal” cooks it at 100 degrees which is fine. Doesn’t have to be 110 degrees. When done, transfer all the yogurt from the InstantPot into another container like a Tupperware container. It may be a bit “thin” but “comes together” after you refrigerate it for a couple of hours. Set aside ½ cup and refrigerate it for making your next batch. When I make a new batch I start with the ½ cup but also add 5 crushed BioGaia and 1 tablespoon of Inulin. You don’t have to do this but I just want to make sure it’s potent enough. I enjoy it with some grain-free granola along with blueberries and raspberries. My twice-daily dessert. Yum. Here’s a KZbin video about it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoqwdpmNl5mIfpo Hope this helps. Daniel

When I used my sous vid to keep the temperature at 110% F the yogurt separated. I hope everyone is sharing this with your family and friends. I started my L. Reuteri journey January 1st. and my cravings for simple carbs has almost gone. I have much more energy, but I'm not crying at movies yet. Transcranial Direct Stimulation, now that sounds interesting. My old Ma had Alzheimer's. Ya my yogurt came out better at like 103% I have two wide mouth 1 quart Kerr jars sitting in a soup pot about 9" deep and use the Sous Vid to keep the temp steady for 36 hrs. this time I'm trying 105% But it's all good no matter the consistency. Freeze it and make smoothies add some blue or black berries, take your other supplements with it, maybe add a teaspoon of inulin and blend. Actually now that I think of it, I think I will blend and then add the berries and eat with a spoon then drink the blend. You can even add some good quality sweetener, until your taste buds get to liking the sour. Andrew Huberman is the one to ask about how fast you can or could change a habit. What about salad dressing? I think I'm going to try that mix with some olive oil through in some good quality Cod Liver Oil, or some ketones. This is so great!!! Finally the anti bull shit doctors are uniting. Love you Dr. Davis. Ah see; there goes the oxytocin kicking in.

L. Reuter needs 100F. And if you preheat the half and half for 20 minutes at 180. Make sure it is 100 before adding the l. Reuteri, or I understand it will die at 108 or above. I use a sous code and canning jars. Having sterilized the jars with boiling water after washing. And I sterilize the little jar to hold the ferment to use for the next batches.

Vwhat about pumpernickel and rye sourdough breads? Your recipes look great but i am vegan and i would try your homemade dairy yoghurt but dont use eggs, meat, poultry or fish for 45 years so a lot of recipes are not suitable for me. What would you use as an alternative for eggs? I am 78, dont take any medicines but i cannot seem to lose about 7lbs of weight so i am taking care of my microbiome as it looks like it is missing some bacteria that i need. I have stoped eating wheat but the main diffuculty for me is that i have sugar cravings. Can you give me any advice please?Thank you for your talks, i enjoyed them so much and am reading Super Gut. If you want you can buy the GaiaBio women’s product with 10 billion CFU and just take the pill or make yogurt with it. The higher colony forming units should outcompete other bacteria after adding to milk. Heat sterilize the milk beforehand.

The only thing I disagree with so far is you need to work out more than 15 minutes once or twice a week unless you're basically sprinting tge entire 15 minutes. Otherwise give it at least 45 minutes of moderate to high intensity. He was overselling a bit on that point.

Cardio is garbage for health. Only very intense very short stuff like sprints is good for you and most people are limited in what they can do in that regard. Everything you hear about health and exercise in the mainstream is pure bs.

Do we crush the PRObiotic tablets. And add the prebiotic like inulin. Down stream here someone says “crush PREbiotc” but that’s not what recipe infers as he speaks it. Remember he said he took more probiotic tablets than recommended. Added some prebiotic. Big difference if I’m reading this right. Someone clarify please. I add inulin to stuff but just a bit as the recipe says. 😀😀

Crush the PRObiotic tablets to a powder. Add two TABLESPOONS of inulin and add enough Half and Half to make a slurry. Stir thoroughly until all the lumps are gone (the tablets tend to clump). Add remaining Half and Half and divide into your yogurt maker jars, or if using the sous vide method, just add it all to one big container. Ferment for 36 hours at 100-106 degrees Fahrenheit.

You missed it- MCT oil has more impact, more efficacy, it is made of coconut oil. You can take coconut oil, if you like too.. they are similar to each other. Pricewise- MCT is quite affordable, similar to coconut oil. Some 'branded' (and more expensive) versions like 'high octane' (Bulletproof brand) are available, claiming to be even more efficacious.
