Man. You and Curtis are probably the best youtubers out there. Just like....100% pure quality. You waste 0 time, your cadence is perfect, the information flows in a logical direction, the on-screen information/graphics is sized correctly and relevant, it's just so refreshing man. Thanks for what you do. I really hope you're doing well.

5:02 UPDATE: They now allow you to adjust some of the basic parameters inside the 'Enhance mode'. To find this, update vocaster hub then look for that 48v button. If the software is up to date, there will be a new button that says "Edit" next to that 48v button. Click "Edit" and play around in there. Here's a lil breakdown of what they added (and what they didn't). One slider for compression, and slider for low, slider for mid, and slider for high. They also have a thing called rumble reduction which reduces the impact of when a mic is adjusted (like if I accidently smack the mic stand). Rumble reduction has three levels: off, low, high. Low seems to work well for me because high seems to be overly hollow and absent of low frequencies while off is too risky for my movements. I'm guessing that the rumble reduction is basically a compressor on the low frequencies only, but I am not sure. Each of the presets, radio, warm, clean, and bright, have that "Edit" section so they can be customized individually. All of this can be done for host or guest. Very nice touches. They still do not have a dB meter anywhere in the program though. I want a dB in the vocaster hub software. This comment from 1/27/2023 (and I also put it on curtis' vocaster video). Just trying to help the cause.

Really interesting interface. Definitely will draw some attention to podcasters or people who want to start a podcast and need only 2 channels (host & guest). I like the fact that is pretty intuitive and easy to use and will not be a headache even if you are a beginner. One more thing to add is that for me 300$ is just a touch too expensive for the features you get (not saying that they are few but the fact that the Bluetooth function is faulty and the software does not offer you as much options as others/ still the loopback is nice to be seen) makes the price a bit high. Maybe 250$ will be better (personal opinion)

I ordered one from Focusrite directly and can't wait to have it in my hand. I am a singing podcaster and I believe Focusrite has an excellent dynamic mic preamp as judged from my Scarlett 2i2. Most audio interface has the same problem when using with iOS that is only got sound on left channel. I had problem with Scarlett 2i2 and Audient EVO4. I only got that right with Shure MVi and Yamaha AG03. But in terms of sound quality they are imcomparable with the Scarlett 2i2. I talked with technical support of Focusrite and they confirm the left channel only problem is solved in Vocaster. Honestly as a podcaster, I am looking for something simple and great sound quality out of the box without fiddling around. Vocaster hit the sweet spot.The preset mode may not be cup of tea of music producer, but as in podcasting no EQ can be adjust with software on iOS so those preset EQ is an excellent feature for podcasting. Can't wait to use mine with the Beyerydnamic TG V70!

Absolutely accurate call: it’s for podcasters who “just want it to work” without having to mess with levels, settings, and numbers above 2 (guest and host). Coming from an AV production background, I like the simplicity but dislike the lack of detail and control. Maybe with a software update you can toggle between KISS and Expert modes. THAT would be promising.

Hey Bandrew 😎Greetings from my vacation on Crete. I'm not sure if to love or hate this interface. It seems to have decent build quality and preamps. It's easy to use, especially for beginners. It's restricted to voice / podcast, which is good and bad at the same time. But they made it easy without allowing a little bit more advanced users to unlock the limitations e.g. of the enhancer. And yes, I totally agree with you, at least in the software (Vocast hub) they should provide scales.

I just bought the Vocaster one, i highly agree with a lot of the things you said, but hear me out for a sec, there's nothing in the market to compete with this, the only thing close to it is the scarlet solo or the IO44, but there's one thing i hate about those, the dual channel thing, as a solo podcaster i've been wating for years for something like this, i just need a single mic iinput, that's it! i don't need extra crap, 1 single mic input and a good pre amp with a good equalizer, a compressor on this thing and there it is, the perfect device for the solo podcaster, if you're a musician you don't need to be looking at these devices, there's way better options with better pricing with more features out there. If focusrite is taking feedback, there's 3 thing they need to add to this thing. 1 Levels, we need to know our mic levels! 2 A EQ, We need to be able to adjust our sounds according to our voice needs 3 A Compressor! Please fucusrite! Make it happen! i am so tired of some software choosing the wrong inputs to save the recording, the line in on the IO44, or the Instrument in the scarlet solo! it's so annoying!!!

I've seen many of the reviews about this product using a smartphone for music, but can you actually bring in a phone call (such as a call-in) for a two-person podcast with one person on the XLR microphone and the other person on the phone call? Does the TRRS cable provide the capability for the person on the phone to hear you? I am surprised that not one reviewer tested this device with a phone call, especially since many solo podcasters may have a call in guest. Thanks in advance to anyone that responds.

There are mighty big brains at work at Focusrite. It only takes one or two fits of brilliance to make an iconic product. In this case, choosing ultra simplicity of panel design is a major plus. The market practically begs for that and they have provided where others did not dare to go. Plugging your phone and having a ready mix minus for the interviewee is pure brilliance. I feel sorry for their competitors.

if this didn't have 70db of gain it really wouldn't be too interesting compared to the Audient EVO or Presonus Revelator lines. those are both superb at a much lower entry. I've always preferred Audient over both Focusrite and Presonus BUT the Revelator is really nice. I own them all and as an engineer, the Revelator is my favorite because of the DSP and flexibility. But if I was recommending one for a lower-tech client I would recommend the EVO. Good review.

Audio problem - Any ideas? I'm using my ZV-E10 to stream to my iMac. For sound I use a dynamic mic going into Focusrite Vocaster Two interface going into my iMac. This works great EXCEPT for a vocal sync issue. I mainly use Zoom, Streamflow, and Quicktime to record. To solve the audio sync issue I am trying to run the audio out from the Vocaster (camera TRS output socket) directly into the mic socket on the ZV-E10. This is perfectly synced and crystal clear, UNTIL I connect the ZV-E10 to my iMac (via either USB or mini HDMI (via Camlink 4k)), which introduces massive noise. As soon as I connect the camera to the iMac, the noise starts. If there is not a solution, perhaps there is software that will help me solve the sync issue. I suspect that OBS or Ecamm Live have a solution. Although I'm open to that (and the learning curve) I'd rather find out what the cause of the problem is first. Any advice very much appreciated.

At the beginning of the video, I had no idea about Vocaster One's existence. I watch carefully making mental notes about the device and then all of a sudden I see a device that looks very similar but is clearly functionally very different (one XLR, fewer dials, fewer buttons). And you keep calling it Vocaster Two. It blows my mind! I'm thinking "Am I crazy? Did I miss something?" I rewind to rewatch and double-check I'm not crazy and it is indeed a different device. Eventually, I even notice One has "One" written on it and then I realise what happened. Unpleasant experience to be honest. What is the best way if I as a new singer want to use youtube music videos and be able to hear the singers in the ears while I record myself and use the music for my own recording on that youtube video I found but not the singer on that video but instead add my own voice? How shall I do this? Now I bought an audio interface, mic, xlr cables and a macbook pro… but I have not yet decided what DAE I should buy! I want to record myself singing and doing voice acting, for films and audio books, and then record friends coming buy with their guitar or keyboard that can play music to my singing… I got the Audient ID 14 MKll sound interface and two mics now. I bought the mics after listening a LOT on the reviews here.,, Cubase LE came for free with it… not sure if that is good for what zi want to do or if Logic Pro or Ableton is better ….!? Please help advice me so zi get started the right way! Thanks😎😀

Hi bandrew, could you do a video for people looking to get a good audio setup for professional video conference calls /meetings? Ideally something that doesn't have a mic blocking the view of the speaker. It would help with both work meetings and for speaking engagements at online events

I can't stop comparing this to the Zoom Podtrak P4 (which would be great if you can take a look at) which is like $100 cheaper. The P4 has a lot of good stuff (like 4 inputs, separate recording for every track, basic soundpads) I like but also has some cons that this Vocaster actually is good at like build quality, 48Khz recording and the software (even as barebones as it is currently). Makes me wish I could merge them together for their pros and get the ultimate basic super interface for podcasters hahaha.

This thing has Multitrack with 12 Channels. Soundpads can be added with an App from your Desktop or Tablett or Phone. It has two Loopback Channels ect. Everything you want is possible with a size that it easily fits in a back pack

I'm so interested to test this on my telefunken tf51(high end somewhat expensive 251 studio mic remake, as such). Hear me out, I have an interesting idea on this. I've currently got beautiful rupert neve designs portico 5021 preamps, absolutely some of the most iconic, and expensive and high end studio pre's money can buy. I've also got a Neve 1073. I've also got excruciatingly expensive prism titan converters(again, some of the best money can buy). I've got myself a cl1b tubetech compressor, hell, I've got the same gear the biggest studios have. Why am I telling you all this? Simple. I want to see how close this can come, automatically, to what a skilled engineer can do with high end gear on someone singing. I know it won't be quite the same as all the fancy gear. BUT. And a VERY important but. Will anyone care? Maybe not. Maybe I won't even care. If this can get a singer to the starting place, provided they use a good quality mic, then this CHANGES THE GAME for so many singers who haven't spent 10 years learning engineering and buying expensive gear. This would be WONDERFUL for people who want to get something down, and just be CREATIVE without having to worry much about the rest. And honestly, I'd LOVE to do that myself. Of course I'd use my fancy cl1b and ssl's and etc once I've recorded. But it might get me close enough that I only want to use that for a bit of tone and color and small things. Less time spent on plugins, less time spent on all that stuff. Imagine switching to the warm preset when recording backing vocals, and the clarity one when doing a lead? Could be really, really, cool. And you just have what you need in your project, not needing to individually go in and do the beginning part of the mix for every one. I'm very, very excited.

also, I do love the mute button and wish more podcast-centric gear would use them...but...could they make it larger...easier to press...and away from everything else? I mean...oh no...I'm about to sneeze! so I panic reach for it and hit the wrong button? It's like people design stuff without ever using it for its intended purpose.

I'm not sure if I'm the best person to make that. I only use Logic Pro X and I know that's not a popular DAW. Depending on the recording software you use, I'm sure there are plenty of tutorials on KZbin on how to set up a multi-track session. Doing some basic setup videos could be helpful though. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hello, I work with an iMac, Audacity and Vocaster two with 2 microphones via XLR. Unfortunately, I can't get the Vocaster to pass separate tracks to Audacity. I get 2 tracks, each containing both microphones. But I want to have every microphone in one track. Isn't this possible with Vocaster? I would be happy about a tip!
@Podcastage
@Podcastage 8 ай бұрын
You need to have your input set to CHANNEL 5/6, those are the two microphone inputs. So you would set Channel 5 for the host input and Channel 6 for the guest mic input. Here’s a breakdown of the channel mapping for the focusrite Vocaster: support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/5830218712082-Vocaster-One-Vocaster-Two-Channel-Ordering

@@Podcastage Thank you for your reply! Using my iMac, I can only select one channel in Audacity, either 5 or 6. For example, if I select channel 5, the recording will produce 5 tracks - which I don't understand either. Even if I then select channel 6, 5 tracks are created again. It's quite confusing and doesn't correspond to what Focusrite states. I suspect a hardware defect or what do you think? Merry Christmas, Peter

At $150, if you don't need the instrument or line input that you're missing on this, I probably would go for this over the Audient. I love the mute button, and I haven't tried it yet but I heard somewhere that you can adjust the DSP now. I need to check that out.

Looking for my first interface to upgrade from a USB mic for spoken word only. This comes close to fitting all my needs but the built in processing options are a bit limited. Anyone have recommendations for a newbie for a portable interface or mixer with built-in voice-focused VST like EQ, compression, and maybe a de-esser? Based on what I've seen, it's come down to the Vocaster, the Go XLR Mini, or maybe the Elgato Wave XLR (looks great, but latency due to offboard effects processing makes it non-ideal). Am I missing any options? Thanks in advance for any input!
