PODCASTER REACTS TO KPOP- EXO "TRANSFORMER & LIGHTSABER" REACTION

Fun fact: In the middle of "Transformer," when EXO makes that picture in their dance, if you know what you are looking at, you will notice that what they make with their arms and bodies is they "transform" into EXO's hexagon symbol and they spell E-X-O. EXO have so much influence on international pop culture that big western companies, such as Disney are coming to them and asking them to partner with them. As you mention, "Lightsaber" was a collaboration between Disney, which owns the Star Wars franchise, and EXO as a way to help Disney promote the most recent release, at that time, of their Star Wars movie "The Force Awakens". So SM Entertainment came up with the song "Lightsaber" -- which is sort of a remake of a song SM already had also called "Lightsaber" which we heard used in Kai's pre-debut teaser video -- and the accompanying MV. EXO is one of the biggest groups across Asia, with one of the largest fan bases, so it's not surprising that "Lightsaber" as a song and MV got a lot of recognition around the world. And because of its popularity, SM came up with this concert stage as well. One of the reasons why SM agreed to partner with Disney on this project was because it fit so well with EXO's storyline and concept. As aliens from Planet Exo, it makes sense that EXO might be Jedis as well. :D And like everything that EXO does, flowers even play a part in their live stages. Flowers are a central part of EXO's storyline, so we often see flowers in things to do with EXO. Although I don't know what the significance of blue roses is, blue roses seem to have an important part in the story as well. For example, we also see Sehun with a blue rose in their "Love Shot" MV. Fun fact: "Lightsaber" is one of EXO's Japanese songs, so if you watch the MV, just know it's going to be shorter because traditionally most Japanese MVs use an abridged version of the song. I think It's part of Japan's marketing strategy to make you buy the song or album in order to hear the full song. So, most of the time, to hear the whole song you have to see it live in concert like this. But as you heard, they also have a Korean version MV and they even have a Mandarin Chinese version of "Lightsaber", as well. Rumor has it that an executive from Disney happened to catch EXO's performance of "El Dorado" at one of their concerts -- in which EXO also has choreography that uses lightsaber-like lightsticks -- and that's how they were inspired with the idea to ask EXO to collaborate with them on this project. Also, as one of the big 3 Entertainment companies in Korea and around the world, SM has had a relationship with Disney for a long time now and SM has partnered with Disney to produce programs for Disney Channel Korea in the past. Many of the members of NCT got their start pre-debut as members of Korea's Mickey Mouse Club and they starred on the well known variety show which aired on Disney Channel Korea. As you may have noticed, at the end of 'Lightsaber," when they started their dance with the lightsabers, you saw that they turned on their rain machine. That part of the stage has a rain feature that can be turned on and off. So it was raining down on them the whole time they were dancing with the lightsabers. That's why they were wet at the end. That's also where the water they were dancing in came from. Water played a big part in this concert tour and they got wet several times during each concert because of the rain machine and moat filled with water that encircled that part of the stage.

I first got acquainted with K*pop a year ago... I think the difference between K*pop and other music is in the dance. K*pop is famous for its dances. When I got to know K*pop, I first watched the music video and K*pop dance is attractive to me. And the next step was to look at the meaning of that song and if the meaning and dance of that music was good, I would listen to that music... until I met E*xo. For me, E*xo is music without subtitles, which means I don't need to know the meaning. I don't have their lyrics, I just enjoy listening to their beautiful voice and wonderful music. Whenever I want to see K*pop or listen to it, I listen to other groups' music or watch other groups' music videos. But whenever I want to listen to really good music, I only listen to E*XO. E*XO has everything I like and expect from a very good music. E*XO dances very well and skillfully. E*XO has meaningful and beautiful music. E*XO has the best and most important characteristic of a singer group, which is the ability to sing. E*XO has the 8 best singers in K*orea. The 8 best vocalists in the history of K*pop. 8 vocalists and rappers. That means all the members can rap in addition to vocals. The power of the notes and the magical voice of E*XO members is not in any group. When they start singing, I am with myself. I say, are they really normal people? How can they sing so well and powerfully? It's as if they are extraterrestrial with a voice that comes from heaven. E*XO can perform live music in such a way that you scream with excitement and surprise. They sing so strong and well that recently they protested to them not to perform live music so much and not to show off your good voice. In addition to singing, they are actors. They are also very good. In fact, E*XO are the most talented and best singers, actors, dancers, and models in the K*pop and K*drama industry... I admire many groups besides EXO and I like their music, such as Stray Kids, Ateez, seventeen, TXT, TNX, NCT, Black Pink, TWICE, Girls Generation, BTS, and... but E*XO is an unrepeatable legend in the K*pop music industry. This talented group It has the best members, especially the talent of singing, acting, dancing, and modeling. E*XO deserves to be called the king/emperor of K*pop.

Please, remember that Kai was injured at that moment, so without Kai the performance has lost like about 30% of its effect. Please, watch the Japanese version at least for yourself. It is a crime to watch a Kailess version of that performance. Kai is a Dance Genius, without Kai it is not the same.
