My theory is that rhys isn't the killer and Joe is ,it's all in his head and if you watch the series you'll realise that rhys does not interact with anyone else but Joe showing he isn't actually there .rhys actually exists but he doesn't even know who Joe is.

Ngl I went into this season thinking it'll just be Joe being the same person again and while his actions don't completely abandon him I was so pleasantly surprised to see that the season was formulated as a who-done-it and so far I am hooked. Great job Penn and the whole You team!

I was really happy that there was a change for this season, as much as i liked the other seasons, i was happy for a change and was interesting to kind of be rooting for Joe, as he seemed to try to become a better person. so excited for part 2!

I am glad part 2 will clear up some of the plot. I personally didn’t feel a chemistry between kate & joe, like he wasn’t exactly obsessing over her like we’ve seen. It felt more obligatory, because he was being black-mailed, and not genuinely obsessing per-say. Also Kate’s reacting to Gemma being slain didn’t carry well for me, I mean she’s not a sociopath, just emotionally contained. So it just didn’t feel like a natural response. But I can see how that helps maintain the illusion of the actual killer as a plot device.

You mean, Joe is actually emotionally connecting to somebody for real and it isn't an obsession? It's the most interesting part of what they're currently doing. Showing the flaw is his perception of "love" itself. The initial lack of chemistry feeds right into that.

@@Anxsighety Joe isn’t capable of “love” we clearly know this, because when he was with love he started obsessing over his neighbor, and then Marianne. Joe’s problematic attachment stems from the rejection of his mother, so he chases delusions, and so once he actually gets who he wants it becomes “boring” so he chases his next obsession. This season he’s trying to detach himself entirely from obsessing and simply escape his past. The only reason he engaged with kate was because he didn’t want to be caught.

I’m thinking that Joe has lost his mind bottling up his desires and after everything with Marienne, he developed an imaginary friend in the form of Rhys. So far, the only time we’ve seen Rhys interact with someone other than Joe has been with the announcement of his political campaign, and even then, I’m not sure that’s accurate. Feels less obsessive this season and not focused on Joe much at all in the sense it's all about ther Rhys almost getting 'in the way' of the plot. There isn't a 'love' interest this season either I would say, it's like Joe half wants to like Kate out of it being his deafult to be obessive but his heart isn't in it anymore - I cant tell what his motivation is this season outside of the mysertious messenger - if Rhys wasn't there, what would Joe be doing. I wonder if there will be a season 5 and if it will just be about Joe on the run and move even further away from the shows 1-3 origin.
