I particularly liked one thing that Tuna said: for most players, the game is probably the campaign. So, I get frustrated people dismissing it as a simple tutorial. It is almost as important, if not more, as the endgame at least in the early life of the game (or for new players probably) . Just want it to shout this for someone reason.

I think the people saying they should be able to corpserush or snooze through a campaign boss are tripping. The bosses are the best part of the game. My issues are more with the white mobs being so lethal.

Will be a lot cooler with the remaining acts. Lots of cool stuff in the current 3, but feels like with 3rd, it was starting to ramp up and flesh out but it's cut off there. They probably have cooked some great things for last 3. 6 sounds intriguing too cus it won't be typical act.

for the artificer orb problem, they could use the system in Grim Dawn with components: you can salvage an item or a component through a npc but you have to choose which one to keep.

about the trials to ascend, all I really want it for the debuffs to go away in the boss fights. Those birds already have one shot mechanics and stuff you really need to dodge. Getting killed because of some vines or that blood pustule holding on to you, or not being able attack at all with melee because that phantom is trying to touch you a.. 7 times is just too much. The attacks and move sets we can learn over time. I'm fine with that.
@HiddenStr3ngthАй бұрын
Yeah, I lost to ruin because it's underneath the boss to and completely invisible. As melee, and yes, it was very annoying in general. But there are other mods that are even worse for melee, but do nothing to ranged. Like the volatiles on every mob one.
@fang_xianfuАй бұрын
The thing that frustrates me about it is that the runs are so long. The Sekhema boss felt considerably easier in terms of mechanics than campaign bosses, and I assumed that was because a Sekhema run takes long enough that learning a complex fight would be too frustrating. It was good design. But then in the chaos trials, not only are the bosses just as hard as campaign bosses with multiple phases and many mechanics to learn, there's three of them so by random luck you may get one you've never done. My chaos run took 14 attempts, and I had my first run be the chimera boss, 9(!) runs the tornado chicken boss, one run of the vulture, and then the last 3 the tornado chicken again. And the whole time was just learning the boss mechanics and which of the penalties felt most punishing in the boss fight (as a ranged character, ruin was basically a freebie but the ones that try to stop you moving are death)
@GeneisHavocАй бұрын
Some of those mods need tuned down. I ran lightning runes in my first chaos thinking if I just paid attention nbd. Those runes are fucking huge and there appears to be no cap. The entire room was covered within seconds.

I made a post on the drowned city one. Navigating that to the next zone, apex of filth is easy. Havent fully worked out the pathing for apex tho. In case anyone wants to know how to navigate drowned city, follow the roads. Not neccesarily the path on the minimap but actual road on the tile layout. In my experience, if you follow this north east, you'll find an open area marked vile nest where you get mobbed and a checkpoint. Take the road leading right after this and follow it. Bam you found the apex of filth. Its the same layout as the zone in the past and the nest area is where you fight viper. Take a right after that fight and you find the apex in the past zone as well.

So far it feels like PoE 2 zones are less randomized though? So might become quite easy. Was already easier doing it 2nd time on cruel. Haven't wandered too much. Mainly just because I wanted to do every little side objective, even the ones that are pretty irrelevant.

On the topic of map bosses. I really enjoy current system. Because they are not in every map, devs can really justify high drops from them. Also in the past, I often played some builds that really struggled on map bosses, and the option to skip boss maps for builds like that is awesome.

It might have been a "short notice" on the implementation of the end game but they certainly knew that designing an end game was a major and important part of the scope of PoE 2 at the beginning. I just wish they were more cognizant of their past lessons learned on some of these things. You could argue tweaking things is all the fix needed for a good portion of the complaints though so fair enough. Let's see what the future holds.

1:25:00 What I dislike the most about the Trial system is how random the difficulty can be. As much as I DESPISE the labyrinth, it felt like an actual test of my SKILL as a player. Thanks in no small part to SuitSizeSmall, I am actually able to plan out my Merciless Lab ahead of time. I know Izaro's weapons and his moves, I know the zones and their connections, I know if there's a Golden Key to get from an Annex etc. And if push comes to shove I can just wait until tomorrow to roll a different layout. In PoE2 ascending is exponentially more unreliable because: 1. The trials have MUCH more random factors (i.e. Encounter Types, Afflictions, Ultimatum modifiers etc.) so the smoothness of a run can vary WILDLY. Plus the Sekhema trial requires a level of Meta-Progression, that as if I had to farm Cruel Lab to make my Merc Lab easier, or even possible. 2. In PoE1 the first 3 labs are free to attempt - while in PoE2 only the first 2 are. 3. The trial difficulty that is supposed to be parallel, is offset, due to the the fact you can ascend again in Act3. In what I can only assume was a very last minute change, the story version of the Trial of Chaos does grant the second set of Ascendancy Points, even though it is supposed to be the Tier 1 version of the Trial aka. the Tier you likely already completed in Act 2. Due to this, the 7 Stage Ultimatum and the 2 Stage Sanctum will NEVER grant Asc. Points (because why subject yourself to a 7 stage, limited resource Trial, if you can use the 4 stage one that's lower level and you can infinitely retry) However now there's an issue with the level scaling of the Tier 3 Trials: I am finding plenty 3 Stage Sanctums, but only 7 Stage Ultimatums around Level 68 - but due to the Ultimatum being only "Tier 2" I have NO CHOICE but to try and beat the 3 stage Sanctum, as it is the only one that can grand my next points, or I have to trade for some very expensive Inscribed Ultimatums, which are likely much higher level. And if I fail the trial I am out those resources, when in PoE1 that part of the progression was free. It feels VERY bad right now, because I have to farm low tier maps on just 4 asc. points, because my build is not yet strong enough to even attempt those challenges.
@TheFacelidАй бұрын
I dislike these trials as well, specifically for forced content. But like Ziz, I like having them as an optional way to farm specific rewards. But like you said, the random nature if what makes them unbearable for me. I played a summoner, and due to the lack of balance between the various minions, I just had pretty low damage. The many aoe effect from the boss just kept killing the minions, while he chased me around, so I just could not keep going for long enough, and would eventually lose. For the first 3 runs, I had negative effects back to back, with nothing to make up for it. It was absolutely impossible. On my 4th run, I made it to the boss again, I got the vendor, who then sold me "cannot take damage until next room is cleared". So I could just go afk and wait for the boss to finally fall over. It was so frustrating and a massive waste of time. When I finally got my ascendancy, I didn't get the "YES! FINALLY!" felling. It was more like "FINALLY! I can finally get back to playing the game! What a waste of time"
@soulstealer5625Ай бұрын
@@TheFacelid The way it was phrased in the livestream it was them brining the league mechanics back and oh look you can ascend via them as a happy bonus! So you can grind them as their own mechanic. Trouble is these mechanics are unpopular and highly subject to rng. Tying such mechanics to something as critical as ascendancy is fucking wild.
@thatepicwizardguyАй бұрын
The trials are poorly designed right now. Its complete RNG for most players/builds and you can still fuck up and brick your run. Then youre back to praying for another good RNG roll. Theres no good argument for them staying the way they are. Its makes most players frustrated and doesnt ADD anything of worth to the game

3:50:14 - That merchant choice to have your next purchase be free is not limited to only that merchant. It would've been really good for you to buy so that you would get one of the end room relics for free since those tend to be rather expensive. More than 180 for sure.

If the NPCs are going to be this relevant, they should add depth to that. It is an RPG, after all. Like maybe you quest to help them acquire new tools and, in exchange, they help you with your gear. Maybe they could provide small boosts to your affix rolls or add an affix of your choice (which would obviously need to be limited so it's weaker than a naturally found affix).

Someone showed me a screenshot from a forum where GGG staff were talking, and it fills in so many questions I had going through this game, as well as confirming many fan theories. If you're feeling gaslit by others when you think to yourself "PoE 2 is just a re-skinned PoE 1 mod" and they say "it's ea"...the stuff I read suggests you are right. From the perspective of the devs doing actual coding, they are talented and that shows up. From the perspective of the management, this was a re-skinned PoE 1 put into EA so they could sell as many supporter packs as possible and make a quick buck. It's basically a league of legends situation. Do they follow in Riot's path and forge a real game out of this with it's own identity? Time will tell. But if you're frustrated because campaign and endgame feel like different games, endgame feels aimless, melee feels awful, and there are glaring contradictions in design choices...yeah, that's not just you, and it's not just because it's ea.

I'm new to PoE, and I don't get this community's obsession with "Crafting." It's not even crafting! Crafting would be like "I want a flaming sword, so I need iron, wood, leather, a fire elemental core, and an expert blacksmith." What PoE has is just drunken magic gamba. It reminds me of cracking booster packs, except instead of getting 6 cards per pack, you get 1 card per 6 packs. Don't get me wrong. It can certainly be a fun system, but "crafting" it is not.
@mike951221 күн бұрын
In old PoE 1, and apparently in very late game for top-tier players with a massive amount of currency, you can do something close to real crafting where you have more control over what is on the item. GGG doesn't like that, however, so it is like you described it, no real crafting happening. Most players depend on trade, but they don't incorporate trade into the game.

Honestly kind of tired of people saying PoE2 needs to somehow change to cater to PoE1 zoomers. It really doesn't. There's nothing wrong with 2 being it's own game, and it'll probably do better having it's own identity rather than constantly trying to straddle worlds to make all types of players happy. That's the whole reason they made it a stand alone instead of an expansion to 1. In the end, it'll serve GGG better to have two distinct games serving 2 different types of players. They won't lose money if people prefer to play 1 rather than 2, they're both going to live on MTX sales regardless.
@sgt.pepper5078Ай бұрын
People don't want poe 2 to cater to poe 1 audience, that's a silly argument, they want poe 2 to be a better game than it currently is. Part of that is recognizing what poe 1 has done exceptionally well and poe 2 is lacking. This has nothing to do with the speed of the game.
