Not sure if this is my PoE 1 brain talking or not but i dont think going chaos DoT on the crit multi and spell leech ascendancy is the play. But i will be watching your progress to see how it goes

Try linking poison dot into freeze (chaotic freeze) which then sets up crits (biting frost). Especially good if essence drain provides recovery, leveraging blood mage recovery and crit. I wouldn’t bet on sticking to one element given the weapon/tree swap GGG implemented.

It’s not it was not the play at all Leech doesn’t work with minions, or dots.. and chaos is all around pretty weak for bossing.. leeching is a pure debuff to yourself this way.. you actually can’t sustain at all with dots and the on hit most likely won’t be enough to keep you topped off

Personally, i didnt see any good ascendnacy node on the monk but you can play anything with any class so its possible!

add in dark effigy and it helps getting that mob you hit with contagion in the middle of the pack

I think I may have gone insane and start imagining non existence skill in my dream but I remember there's a support skill that increased spell damage at the cost of your minion's life, or your own life if you dont have any minion. If you use your own life, then the increased spell damage effect is greater. Does anyone also remember seeing this skill or have I gone insane?

The only skill i can think does that is Dark Pact from PoE 1. If its a support now then that would be fantastic

+1 to level of supported chaos skill is not that insane. Idk how much they scale per level but I doubt it's 25%+, especially after level 20. And also we've seen staffs with +5 to level of gems iirc? So that also dillutes the power provided by the support. You're right that it might be used and maybe it even gives +2 later on, but it's not crazy.

I wish this ascendancy actually did anything for chaos dots. I hate that they got rid of the heal on essence drain. It's not even a drain anymore. they should change the name.

I wanna say I have seen Hexblast with Impending Doom and Blood Mage with insane critical damage boost will go off. Combine that with the effigy.

But then i would be playing Hexblast. Its already a Meta skill in PoE 1. I rly dont wanna play it in PoE 2.

I will follow your progression closely cause i plan too play blood mage too and we don't see all node from ascendency but the personnality of the witch is minion AND chaos so i think some node will touch chaos too

I dont think anyone got that far into the progression to get all the Ascendancy nodes. It would be very strange the Bloodmage to not have some more Utility Nodes or a random DPS one where it scales off life and not being able to deal crits or something.

Yes! Thats what I was thinking. Probably a little ambitious to start at the bottom of the Tree and go through minimum 20 passives to reach the first dps node at the actual beginning of the game though. If i get some good gear imma roll a gemling boi though! If thats what you want to do go for it! Itll be a blast.

Thats also a reason Gemling would be good because one of the nodes allows use of the same support gem in 2 different skills. Im going to be on the safe side and gather some gear then most likely switch to Gemling if Bloodmage turns to be medium. I think its possible to have a 6 link on Essence Drain but the duration will be very short so most likely would have to scale Skill Effect Duration on the tree or possibly even use More Duration Support.

@@PartTimeExile fair enough.. hard to know now how easy or not it will be to stack int on gemling.. maybe its rough as a first build so BM sounds fine... thinking otherwise as i really wanna play chaos , going BM Crit Hexblast - taking spell leech, crit scaling with hp and progenesis node to be tanky af. hmm..?

@@PartTimeExile tried to make somewhat of a tree for gemling but the pathing is just so extremly long both for chaos nodes and MoM, not sure if it will work tbh..

I’m goin chaotic freeze support with drain ailments which adds freeze to then get the effect from drain ailments!

Dark effigy with +limit and wither on hit is gonna be your go-to on bosses I think. I couldn't find enough scaling vectors to make me want to play chaos dot though. I think we need to wait for a chaos ascendancy.

@@bobbysnobby If anything, I honestly think Gemling Legionnaire might be the Ascendancy for Chaos DoT but I want to try a normal Witch build. It would be crazy that Chaos DoT isnt supported to some degree.

I dont see why they wouldnt just copy paste Essence Drain from PoE 1 cuz its not a strong skill. I could see them lowering some numbers but thats about it

You can make curses into auras with blasphemy support and no they are not considered ailments.

Unfortunately, No. Unless something changed or they include another support gem which would allow Blasphemy to apply Ailments.

Bloodmage might not be the right call and ED Contagion seems kinda shitty based on the fact contagion hits one enemy. Then you have to aim ED to hit that one... Seems real cluncky. ED Contagion is known for its buttery smoothness albeight 2 button playstyle. If its not smooth its a big no for me.

Ive missed many Essence Drain hits during PoE 1 so its not a deal breaker for me. However, I have faith that ED-Contagion will be buttery smooth. If not, I will make it smooth. I did bring the skill back from Death in PoE 3.25. If anyone can do it, its me!
