All pathing nodes in POE 2 allow you to choose between +5 strength, dexterity, or intelligence. The support gem requirements were designed so you can convert any 1 pathing node to add any support gem to your skills. Balancing it out with gear requirements is going to be a bit of a pain, but should scale with you throughout the game as you increase the number of support gems each skill can hold.

For faster casting, maybe a good use (at least early on) would be to put it on the skill that is bound to you weapon (e.g. fireball for the fire staff) as these have no mana cost iirc.

Not sure how closely we should read early teasers/spoilers, but Glaciation says “50% more”, while Hypothermia says “+25% more”. Note the plus. It’s possible there are times Hypo will be better. If the difference isn’t a typo.

All critical affixes I saw so far give base percentage crit, this +15 base crit on weapon might be commom.

Kinda curious with how much pressure there is to actually give us more support gems how some of them are Attack only when they could also work well for spells (Ice Bite, Innervate, Iron Grip)

I can see many of these support gems in different loadouts for party play. I will be solo 75% of the time and with a friend 25%. I imagine it will be optimal for each of us to change out a few gems to compliment the other.

Considering the number of support gems you can use for each attribute directly correlates to the number of that attribute you have selected on travel nodes, and each support seems to only add 5 of a given attribute, I dont see how you are getting to the idea that stat requirements are going to be so high. Additionally, while identifying high tier rares will be a good source of new items, using 2 essences and an augment for the base of your crafting projects simply should not be underestimated. Yes, bases might be expensive, but so will well rolled items.

Are Essence mods unique? Or is IT possible to Start crafting with one Essence and keep using them in the further process?

Essences just work like a targeted exalt, so you can keep crafting your item after slamming the essence yes

Do the greater essences upgrade to a rare item with a random number of mods or does it take a 1/2 magic item and turn it into a 2/3 rare item?

Essences with cold/lightning/fire modifiers could give +gem levels on staff weapons early on for huge power boosts for sorcs

I do not think you are right about essense crafting if the magnitudes of the essenses are anything close to what we see in PoE1. You will use 2 essenses and an augmentation (or whatever the name is now) between them very often. Do you know if the essenses di not ha restriction of the tears of rolls based on the basis you are using?

Agreed. Essences look to be a foundational element of end game crafting from what I can see as they allow you to guarantee two of the mods, unless of course the tiers of mods are significantly below what you can find through non-deterministic methods. If they're close, it will still be "good enough" and what most players will use for their end game items. They'd have to be much worse for them to not be heavily used at end game, or at least that's what I would think.

Gog - I think you forgot there are Greater Essences that can upgrade a magic item to a rare (so you can get 2 guranteed Essense mods from an item). At least it wasnt mentioned at around 2:30 when you talked about Essences and crafting. Edit: I also want to add, GGG indirectly confirmed you could use both a regular essence and a greater essence on one item in an interview, when they stated the greater essence is essencially a second guranteed mod.

The big difference is that Herald of Ash is a seperate skill entirely and can be scaled by Herald related nodes from the tree. This lets you build a main 6L damage skill and then also build out a DoT via Herald on a seprate 6L.

I hope theres a third level of essences that rewrites a rare item, just like in poe. Im starting to worry about this whole crafting system. Guess well see how it goes. Crafting is one of poes strong points, not sure why the need to alter it so much

So people don't have to use auto crafting soft for spamming 2k+ alterations just to hit 1 mod and repeat it if craft is failed. And imagine people who dont know about that soft and just wants to craft something

IMO change will be really interesting. Core goal of GGG I think here is to make direct monster drops of rare items interesting (if the monster is tough enough, OR if you get crazy lucky on a non-special monster)

I'm discouraged by how much the game seems to force you into many-button, combo oriented gameplay. I would greatly prefer having other options. I think a lot of people are going to dislike having to play a piano as part of the core gameplay loop.

@seapeajones I think it's what a lot of people are going to have to do. Problem is, doing ANYTHING other than combat SUCKS on controller, so it's going to be super annoying switching back and forth all the time.

I would say, dont knock it til you try it, especially when there seem to be cool options like wildshards that add a bit of flexibility to how skills work. But it's also fine to not like it, either at first in early access (maybe they'll change it over time in a way you'll like) or not at all. It's ok to not like things.

@fang_xianfu I've tried it in all sorts of games over many years and, without exception, it significantly reduces the fun I have with a game. I definitely will dislike it if in fact you are forced to play combo/many-buttons. That being said, I'm fairly sure I will love everything else about the game. I'm hoping I find enough work arounds to at least make combat bearable. I know it's OK to not like things. I'm just sad that it's happening in a game I would otherwise LOVE.

the more cast speed support is only faster if and only if you have at least 100% inc attatck speed already other wise mathematically you will cast faster with the other support this is ignoreing the less damage. i have no idea why would anyone use it

-10% IAS in Act 1 is a lot more devastating of a drawback since you're already so low on other IAS mods that might otherwise mitigate it. If there is a Mud Flats of PoE 2, that item is a death sentence for that zone.

It really depends - if you can Spectral Throw this for example you can use it very strategical....maybe you can even use it with totems or minions.....also...leap slam might be awesome with this (not as movement but as a devestating blow)
