13:25 They added this league that you don't have to go click the map on the atlas after you favorited the first. You can select an empty slot, then select a favorite map slot that already has a map selected. Makes it way faster and convenient :D

Important question. Does passive "drops only favourite maps" work for blighted maps from blight boxes? I tried it for few maps and probably got some common currency from blight chests but not sure

Abyss takes a long time in maps and doesn't yield the best rewards for your time unless you are doing delirium alongside it.

I dont have either singular focus or the other , im just doing full shaping nodes , 12 fav.maps , chisel alch vaal , rusted carto scarab , 4 x 6additional pack sextants , and my choice of 2 league mechanics and 78+quant on maps, im basicly getting 100 fav.maps when i run 40-42maps , i have no problem sustaining whatsoever i have done 72 city squire , beach , dunes , cemetery , glacier , and im just rotating and i still have 3x72 to go , i really dont understand whats problem , im guessing people doesnt even chisel their maps. ( im also having tons of random maps that people buy 3.5c ea on bulk , and i dont have to give up shaper elder syntesis maps etc , my cortex count is 5 atm )

I think shadow shaping is for the time before you get the voidstones. You can effectively block other t15s and 16s so every drop in those tiers will always be the maps you want. With voidstones its not possible in the same way.

late but, even when you have a full atlas of t16's you still drop lower tiers. its just that they dont actually drop and whenever you drop a t14 or t15, you gain some points towards a pity system and when you have enough points youll drop a t16. since t15's can still drop, the +1 map tier works.

I'm farming mesa, even without the map nodes, only alch and go and eldritch I was able to self sustain pretty well, don't have enough to sell, but never need to do anything else than mesa, gonna try this with the nodes and maybe switch to a better map, I just love mesa layout

Im essentially breaking even, only because of the altars occasional boost. The altars if picked up early in the map give like 5-10 maps. Only thing im not doing is sextants, and thats because my tree is aimed at challenges right now. Once i can respec my tree and take sextant nodes ill be over sustaining for sure

I was running scarabs with T16 dunes with four voidstones with all fav slots with singular focus and all atlas map nodes with sextants and I was getting one dunes every three or four maps. Maybe it was the bug idk, I’ll try resetting it and go again.

Hello Grimro great video! I have question but it's about legion. I sometimes have difficulty to fast kill generals in juiced legion with sentinel if they get empowered should I focus on clearing everything else except 1 general or maybe even sometimes 2? I'm playing CF wander I'm at like 1,4M CF DPS I also have reap for ST so like 3M combined but I ahve to ramp for a bit and idk if it's worth for me to miss a big chunk of mobs and rewards while focusing to kill the generals :P. Especially when I started vaal'ing my maps so if I roll 40% PDR and enfeeble it's really noticeable :P.

Hm I've never used reap so I'm not really sure man but the best advice I have for you is to focus on damage and grab an inspired learning also if you're not a glad you'll want explosions somehow. It's ok to skip the generals though yes.

You forgot to mention one mechanic. If you use Shadow Shaping + Wandering Path you can infinitely oversustain by just running whitemaps. 100% chance to drop a connected map, and then you favorite all other connecting maps making you ping-pong between only two maps. I have chosen Shore and Crimson Temple but there are other viable options. In addition you have like 40% chance to duplicate map drops and like 30% quant/rartity on WHITE maps. Your connected maps will so often get doubled, and when a guardian/sirus map drop it often duplicates. Very good for safe leveling or map boss rushing. You also have 60% increased effect of modifiers. Very rippy but if you alch vaal packsize is EASY 40-60% and 250% quant.

@@mitchdudz4086 Yes. I am doing this with T16. So with a 100% chance for a connected map to drop with 40% chance to duplicate map drops, you by definition oversustain by 40% by running the map white. All kinds of guardian maps drops, however you are not able to take the notables increasing their chance to drop as Wandering Path disables notables. I am not advocating doing white maps, but just to make a point how easy it is to sustain. A lot of other map drops will be doubled. In addition to the maps you have to favourite (and therefore block) you can also block like 7 other maps that are bad layout, and you will recieve pretty nice implicits on all map drops.

If you do another mapping video, you should test whether Singular Focus negates map equity. The difference should be pretty noticeable in terms of total T16 maps dropped. I was under the impression it does kill the map equity because you get basic currency instead. If you're sustaining anyway then obv it's no problem but it might be good to know to weigh risk/reward. I would test it myself but I only have 2 watchstones :/

I find the ping pong method between 2 maps works best for me. I'm running Crimson Temple and Necropolis with Singular Focus at about an 80% Crimson rate. Maps are overflowing on chisel, alch, vaal, sextant and go with no scarab. Necropolis isn't bad on a build like bv, great density and no doors.

I feel like Shadow Shaping might be the node for Atlas strategies like Blight, but we sadly dont know how it works internally. While we know that Singular Focus converts non-favoured maps, I wonder how Shadow Shaping works. Does it change the drop pool of maps?

Shadow Shaping is great for running 1 or 2 voidstones, since you can guarantee all your T14/15/16 maps are only 1 map. Combine that with Grand Design + Stream of Consciousness + Blocking Everything except Simulacrum and you have a pretty good setup running only the 2 easy voidstones + Alch and go + having insane density with Sim in 70% of your maps for free.

I really wish I could apply your knowledge to my play-sessions in PoE some more, to farm currency using the beautiful sentinel mechanic...but I just can't even get to t15 maps this league. I just keep dying to off-screen attacks,various ground degens that elude my attention, mobs that spawn on top of my character...dozens of lightning mirages following me around packs of sentinel buffed monsters that I try to kill for that sweet juicy loot...man, it's just not fun, it's bullet-hell dark souls... :( . And I don't wanna cheese my way around all that by using EA or Skeletal Mages, cuz those builds are "broken" anyways. Also, played SM to death last league and I'm burned out of that as well. Regardless of my personal dissatisfaction with this league, thank you *so* much for explaining all these tricky to grasp at first glance mechanics to us. Your videos really help out a lot. Whenever I watch one of your vids it's like "Oh god how dumb am I... Why didn't I realize that sooner??? Now it's so obvious! haha" :P I hope 3.19 will be more playable and enjoyable. 3.18 felt like being stuck in a really toxic relationship where you wanna break free, but can't. In the end I had to stop cuz I really began feeling depressed, cuz everybody around me in-game seems to succeed most of the time, and I just fail and die. Especially when seeing videos on how to farm this or that. Makes me feel like i'm just too dumb to play a game, even though I know that's not true. But that feeling still manifests. And that's not fun at all...and with pretty much only 5 truly viable AND affordable builds available to pick from...but I digress. Many feelings and thoughts on 3.18 in my head, and most of them aren't fun or positive. "Sentinel" though stands out as remarkably positive though. Probably one of the best things to happen to the game since maps were first implemented. *on-topic edit:* In the end I managed to oversustain maps in general, by using that small-node empowering big notable, which made small nodes more powerful. With that, map drop and duplication nodes became twice as strong. If you spec into that only, and farm ANY rare map that you can clear quickly, you get an absurd amount of maps, especially if you manage to clear stupidly juiced maps with high IIQ. I sometimes got 6-8 maps per breach/delirium sentinel buffed pack, along with stupid amounts of currency. But as I said...surviving that type of stuff with the current AN crap...it borders on luck, unless you use those cheese builds. It's absolutely sadistic from GGG to expect dozens of thousands of players to go through this kind of experience, thinking we'll all like it. But I digress yet again...I'm just really pissed and disappointed that for the sake of my mental health I have to stop playing PoE so early this league, cuz I love this game so much...or rather,what it was before 3.18 minus the sentinels which I totally adore. I'd even take the old atlas any day over the difficulty of 3.18 ...I just hate AN with a passion. I avoided it in 3.17 and now I just absolutely hate it, cuz it prevents me from enjoying my favorite game.

Even if all maps are t16 from voidstones before a map drops it rolls tiers 1-16. If it were to hit 5 and you have all t16 it would get deleted. If it were to hit t15 it would roll up to a t16 and drop. Basically it makes the chance a t16 will drop the chance for a t15+t16. As for having over 100% a to 14 has a small chance to roll up to t16 also.

Grim actually has a video on this titled "[PoE 3.17] How The Voidstone Buff Means Infinite Map Sustain For EVERYONE". The gyst of it is that despite all your maps being T16 with void stones, when maps drop, they can still drop as a lower tier map. The map equity system then will slowly upgrade those maps until they're T16s at which point they will drop. So having 100% chance for maps to drop a tier higher drastically shortens that map equity process.

Was raising this question for 8 years. Quantity does not affect map drops. It’s only pack size. So if you boost a mob quantity with sentinel it will not increase chances to drop map. Am I wrong here??

I think you are confusing "Maps found have 15% chance to be 1 tier higher" or 3% with extra chance to drop maps. If you have 4 Void stones in your Atlas, you will always get tier 16 maps from a tier 16 map. There is no other reason to select those atlast points, you are wasting a lot of points for nothing.

The reason you only drop t16's is because the game will only drop maps that are actually on your atlas, and like you said with 4 voidstones all maps are t16. But lower tier map drops still get generated internally, it's just that they won't actually drop unless they get upgraded to t16 through your passives. That way upgrade chance actually does net you more maps overall. Also all this only applies to "natural" drops from mobs in your maps, league mechanics and even stuff like "map boss drops x additional maps" from altars can drop lower tier maps still. But idk if the upgrade chance applies to those.
