Sick of dying in POE? The Fourth Vow is budget friendly (I paid one divine for almost perfect rolls), and in conjunction with a Divine Flesh Timeless Jewel, capped or overcapped chaos resistance and the unique flask Taste of Hate, provides incredible mitigation of hit damage.
You'll still be susceptable to damage over time, but you'll be very tough for anything else to kill.

Note that to keep this video a reasonable length I don't cover all the nuances of "physical damage suffered as elemental" like Taste of Hate and how that interacts - just be aware that those mods ARE good with The Fourth Vow, but weaker than chaos alternatives.

Yeah 4th Vow is incredibly underrated at 1% of the ladder. Dawnbreaker is indeed very good too but hard to get even semi-good Crucible mods on.

I managed to smack +150 armor, 40% inc armor on that thing, with close to 100% base and high def roll, now it has a whopping 3k armor. The rest tree is negligible, but Im content as it is

@@sirgog You still have to build up a good chunk of armor to make Fourth Vow effective. Alternately you could use a Doppelganger's Guise to achieve the same effect, without needing to stack armor. It'd be interesting to hear of a comparison between Doppelganger Guise and Fourth Vow. At a certain amount of armor, Fourth Vow should be the superior choice, but I've no idea how much armor that is. Sounds like your wheelhouse. :)

@@ArawnOfAnnwn You are right, the two compete. I'd suggest 4th Vow in most use cases, Doppleguise in Divergent Boneshatter builds though.

This Unique is excellent for paly self-cast Forbidden Rite. I could play Forbidden Rite, as soon as I hit Lvl 55 and coudl equip the unique with only 50-60% chaos resistance.

I knew Fourth Vow looked good on a Jugg, but the synergy with Divine Flesh brings the tank to a whole new level. You're the man!

The problem is this body is reliant on armour that can be easily reduced by certain map mods or even ignored. As resault, your elemental defence is still gonna be higher than most builds, but phys reduction is quite terrible. Armour is reliant also on flasks and determination. Less armour, flasks or aura effect and you loose your defence. Combimated with eater altars with -60% less phys reduction, you are gonna see the weakeness of the armour. You can see similar weakeness with certain rares or expedition mod: monsters overwhelm 100% of phys reduction. Instead I play with doppelganger. It gives flat less damage taken to phys and chaos which also works great with the legion keystone and this defence cant be reduced by any mod. In combination with arctic armour which effect also cant be reduced, you can take like 60% less phys damage and with the keystone roughly 25% less of the elemental damage. Also reduces effect of the penetration. Conclusion: The fourth wow offers close to 50% elemental damage reduction at most times, but sometimes less and those times you can also loose most of physical your defence, making your defences more random. Doppelganger: About 25% less elemental damage taken, 40-61 less physical damage taken if stationary. Phys reduction cant be reduced.

This is unrelated to fourth vow, but I'm sure you know about the bloodnotch thing. Long story short, I've been playing cast when stunned for a while, with the jewel combo and EB. Now, if I'm not mistaken, EB should not remove the natural 50% stun avoidance of energy shield... However, after more than a week of playing CWSt, I can confidently say that this avoidance never once occured. Testing without EB also did not seem to make a difference. Did they mention something about removing the avoidance, or did it just get stealth removed? It would line up with the general sentiment of stuns getting worse this league I've been hearing. Am I missing something?

do you think this or lightning coil would be better for a pathfinder build such as the totem TR build? what about rolling a CF champ, you think this would be more perfered then its usual defenses?

Default to Coil on Pathfinders unless you have investment in armour. CF champ can definitely use this well, but I'd get the Divine Flesh and chaos resist first.

You can also have +2% max chaos resist with some jewels if it's located at Eternal Youth keystone with the +30 Dex/Int nodes.

wanted to try this out on a chieftain, not even using anything besides the vow and divine flesh and it's still feeling giga tanky. even using a bow it's more than enough to get me my first lvl 100.

I assume on a Chieftain you can't use Darkscorn well. Pity. Get one of the helmets made, they are nuts. On a budget, non-fractured you can get them with non-awful mods for 50c. Non-budget, buy one that dropped fractured for 5 divines and Deafening Loathing it. Either way use Ichors to hit 6% more conversion (7% Grand/Exceptional, 8% Exquisite/Perfect tiers) And the armor/ES mastery is bonkers.

Great video! I got Uber Maven, Shaper, Sirus in SSF this league on 4 link (March of the legion) explode totem thanks to the Fourth Vow + Divine Flesh with Jugg. Since the Pen doesn't work anymore it's just fixing a phys mit which Jugg already good at that. Last hole is DoT which still usually most of my death in Uber Sirus.

I would suggest that lightning coil takes the title of most underated defensive chest. without any additional investment it is 37.5% reduced physical damage taken from hits, and gets better with any amount of armour and increased max lightning res.

Coil is also the second most used chest in Crucible SC on level 90+ characters, it's widely acknowledged as good now. Needing to get 60% lightning resist to make up for the drawback isn't free so I wouldn't say it's no additional investment, but it's very much manageable. Also almost everyone using it is also using Taste of Hate

I've been thinking for a while that damage conversion is an oddly rigid part of PoE, it always goes the same way from phys to chaos with no way to modify that. Like what would happen if there was a unique that reversed the direction and made all forms of conversion apply the opposite way? I guess with this video I now understand the problem with making that work for converting damage taken at least. It would probably be completely broken even if it only worked on offensive conversion too, I just don't understand the reason why yet 😅

Player damage conversion (e.g. Cold to Fire Support, Call of the Brotherhood) actually works differently to 'damage taken from X' conversion like Fourth Vow. The whole system is a mess but I believe it was done the way it was to allow players to do zany things offensively, while preventing possible outright damage immunity shenanigans.

IH +CI does nothing for the penetration, it's just a 25% less dmg multiplier. Shaper balls, Atziri Flameblast, etc, still hit you hard. Plus you are CI, so you cant use the new jewels "immortal" setup (x% of dmg from stunning hits recovered as life). And lastly this setup is busted if you also play Jugg cause the armour ele mitigation double dips due to Unbreakable. Too bad that the Sanctum uniques are currently unavailable so we cant also use Eternal Damnation, that would be absurd mitigation.

@@lm7_gio You are wrong - it fou youse aegis aurora you have masive instant recovery - im able to tank most of stuff wich game throws at me on unifinieshed build - yes i agre it does not save you froom penetration but with high enough ele ress AND 25% damage reduction is good enough - on top of that im using Mavens helm for not taking crit or being immune to curses ( i use one magic ring - prob final setup gonna run 2x) and almost capped block - as long as i can tank one ball im good enough cuz ods of all getting thou block are slim and i have acces to vaal discipline as panic button and frost shield as main damage mitigation tool

@@ArawnOfAnnwn Yes in vacum - but it does not go over CI incandecend and he talkes about it with 75% ress - wich if you using my setup you always gonna have way higher - i have at moment 83% all ress and thats without shield skill tree and boots implicit for max cold - higher max ress helps with pen by alot if you do the math - not as much as conversion but i have both and on top of that instant recovery from Aegis and realy good block I even started to math out juggernout CI incandecend juggernaout just dont have yet idea for what damage skill would i go for

I realized this armour was going to be bonkers so I bought mine on day 3 hoping it would be a situation like delirium league. Where we the build designers/crafters would earn tons of money. Then after week 1 I saw just how many was for sale and realized that was not going to be the situation. My bro invested in a per Dex bow and per int wand, and he made tons of cash. Good for me that he is my actual twin and shares his wealth with me xD

Yeah, that's a fine reason to choose something else. It's like the "do I use Aegis, or a caster damage shield, or dualwield caster weapons, or use Annihilating Light?" question. All four options are valid & it comes down to preference. Sometimes though - a defensive chest might let you drop 2 life clusters & recover that damage another way.

@@sirgog it is more invest than aegis and not everyone play caster, base crit is much more worth + all other points and jewel you need that this chest make an good job. i dont say its bad, its an good deff layer but still cost it to much dmg and the best deff in this game is , kill enemys befor they attack u.

Sometimes people don't care about damage like at all. I am playing icicle mines deadeye and I almost have 0 damage mods on my gear. Instead I chose to go with for example a 2.3k armour and 2.1k evasion chest. I still clear t16 maps easly while facetanking mobs at 3.9k life. This video is for people like me, that value defense more than offense.
