if i understood correctly, assuming weighting of mods besides exclusives are equals (which it's probably not) in recombinators and items have the same base i'm assuming items are rolled using alts and eventually regal in second method low cost (no div in benchcrafts) merge 1p/*s and 1p/*s (exactly one prefix on each item) : you want to merge two non exclusive prefix, exactly one prefix on each item : benchcraft exclusive prefix mod on each item makes them both 1p1e/*s success chances from 1/3 to 31% (3 mods with exactly one crafted) + 59% * 1/3 (two wanted prefixes) => 19.6% => ~50.6% 50% half salvageable chances (you get one prefix back but loose the other) from 2/3 to : 11% * 2 / 3 => 7.3% + 59% * 2 / 3 => 39.3% => ~46.6% full bamboozle from 0% to 2.8% if one prefix is hard to get (hybrid) and the other is easy (flat), then you might not consider the half salvage of the easy prefix to be really a cost mitigation for the failure in that case your half salvage chances goes from 46.6% to 23.3% and your full bamboozle chances goes from 2.8% to 26.1% low cost + beastcrafts merge 1p/*s and 1p/*s same as before and assuming that prefix pool first or suffix pool first have the same weight in recombinators by removing all suffixes and by adding a random aspect to both items and benchcrafting an exclusive prefix gives both items 1p1e/0s1e if suffixes are rolled first => guaranteed aspect suffix so 100% => 2p/0s1e if prefixes are rolled first => same odds as the no beastcraft version so 50.6% with 46.6% half salvage or 23.3% half salvage if significant prefix roll cost difference between the two prefixes so you get 50% * 100% + 50% * 50.6% => 75.3% of success instead of the original 33%, with 50% * 46.6% => 23.3% chance half salvage or 11.6% half salvage if significant prefix roll cost difference additional things you might have to factor in: - items can't be magic here (>=3 mods per item), so you'll have to regal and hope it doesn't hit a prefix - if rolling attack or caster mods and extraenous prefix is added when regaling, you can craft cannot roll mod (1div) and annul if the prefix is very valuable - resulting items cannot have filled suffixes using this method, filled prefixes happens only with a crafted mod so you can proceed with prefixes cannot be changed + reforges/veiled/conquerorb etc

I recombinated into scour'ed item today. Before reading anything about 3.25 changes I wanted to move fractured T1 Fire res from donor item to one of the new high end bases. I recombined two magic items, one with fractured T1 Fire res, the other one with crafted Fire res. Twice I kept fracture but on the wrong base. Third time I received white item while losing the base item roll also.

What do you think about using low level essense spamming with combination of the addition of aspects to get 4 special suffixes. You can then add 2 crafted prefixes to have a high chance for 3 desored prefixes. This can be a really cheap alternative for multimode.

I just have a question since i didn't hear or read anything about it, what happens if i pick an item A with 3 prefix that i want, and item B with 3 suffix that i want, and use recombinator? i mean if both items have just those 3 mods on each item, will the recombinator pick the 3 existing mods on each item and put all those 6 mods together on one of the bases or it can get rid of one and add a new mod that doesn't exist in any of the bases? I was thinking in crafting a base using this method but i'm not sure if it is possible or not.

Just a heads up, NNN mods CANNOT transfer across bases if the wrong base type is selected, this is used for screening mods similar to using the same non-exclusive mods crafted on both bases.

Recombinatiors have always been one of the most complex crafting systems in POE. I intend to do some specific examples but it's going to take a lot of trading to set them up, as I'll be burning dozens of specific items in the crafts. Honestly only fossils require more crafting knowledge to use of all poe crafting mechanics other than recombinatiors.

I'm very aware of that... My point was that we have no idea how to make PERFECT items despite that post. Just reading it and barely testing is not enough. We either need a real recombinator calculator or insane amounts of money to test. And be real, only ones that have that luxury are mirror crafters. Look at Jenebu, he has ton of insane recombinated body armours. Also by "abuse" I only meant using recombinator perfectly. Its new (not rly, but recombinating is not the same as when it first came out) and the average player cant grasp all this info so quickly. Mirror crafters understand that post perfectly.

This is where I get kind of frustrated with POE because of how they handle crafting. Like most things if you are just playing the game and use recombination you will just get absolute trash out of the system and hate it. However, if you learn all the details of this system and like 30 more and work all that out you can make absolutely game busting items. I really feel like POE needs to do a better job with the floor of their crafting systems and maybe a tad better job of reining in the insanity of the top end. Yet typically what they do is try to rein in the top end but just end up making anyone casually engaging with their system useless and anyone who studies it able to break the game Thankfully folks like this group love working out the fields and sharing them but as we saw with timeless jewels that is not always the case that these things get shared and nothing about this system is shared to the user in game at all

Why not show this information in-game so that everyone can understand how the system works and use it more widely? This obscure way of doing mechanics disguised as a learning curve is very tiring, especially when we're not sure if it's content that's here to stay, so we have to invest time and resources to learn something that may not even be useful or lasting.

If you already know the majority of the game it's exciting, if you don't it's exhausting. Experienced PoE players have this horrible habit of taking their gradual learning of the game for granted. It's much easier to make sense of a puzzle when you're given one piece at a time. There's too many puzzle pieces that need to be in place before you can genuinely enjoy the game. The gap between experienced and average players is too large and the game is balanced around the top end. This is neutering build diversity and consequently the market. Newer players need "some" access to end game and reasonable income with their bad builds. Otherwise they have no way to fix them, or experiment and learn. And enough with the d4 comments and insults. PoE isn't hard. There's nothing difficult to conceptualize. There's nothing hard about insta clearing the screen and two shotting bosses. It's convoluted, wildly different ideas.
