I actually just made this in a budget build challenge, the damage is pretty solid along with survivability. I used the Fenumus set to get around 2k es/s on hit thanks to storm burst's hit rate. A vitality watcher's eye is probably an amazing combo for it to give like 5k total gain on hit. It ended up around 10-15m dps and 100k ehp, along with that huge "regen", on a 2 div budget!@@Rohan780AWE

the purity of fire sublime vision + perfect dawnbreaker + tempered by war defencive setup combo would free up a TON of suffixes on gear, and also make you insanely tanky. however, you would not be cold converting. you still benefit highly from sources of phys as extra. cloak of flame is likely a better choice over doppleganger for this build. you could likely go replica emberwake with all of the increased ignite duration. still use defiance of destiny. max ele + phys hits covered by the defencive setup above, and small hits covered by defiance of destiny. a setup such as this would likely tank ubers easily granted you have enough regen.

Controlled Blaze is a very interesting gem I somehow got some chunky numbers on paper (realistic situation) but I felt like there was a better using than smite ignite Thank you for the video, I'll definitely be looking more into theory for it, though shield charge is just plain fun by itself

very interesting setup. I like that you can stack the phys as extra on the scepter without doing anything insane. tried blaze with 2h tec slam and it felt doodoo so cool idea to use shield charge for it o7

Been eyeing this build for a while and thinking of perhaps playing this league as tattoos are coming back. Unfortunately, the +1 to gem level tattoos did not come back and so getting the level 24 Shield Charge is much harder than what's shown here. Any tips for where we could get the last +1? Is double corruption the only way now?

Great video and build too been working on using Controlled blaze as well but don't have anything this good yet. What is your opinion on DELI farming in terms of currency? I've been doing Grand Design + Destructive play + Growing Hordes to get 100+ pack size in each map. A TON of fun but the loot outside of bosses is so lack luster.

It was better a week or so ago when the deli reward compass wasn’t so outrageously expensive. I was doing 80% deli scarabs with it and doing ok, maybe 8-10d/hr. It wasn’t nearly as profitable as the 25d/hr I was making running Uber Shaper but I really wanted to be intentional with this build and specialize it for juiced mapping and not just fall back to what I knew would be best profit wise. Plus, this was 1000% more fun than Uber Shaper.

I think it would be a difficult league start. Dawnbreaker would a good shield choice, but it would be quite squishy without the Defiance of Destiny and it would be a while before you could source a Progenesis. Without those two things I'd not want to push into harder content early and that's where I feel like I make most of my early league currency. @@Suzu520

Honestly league starting this I’m not sure, I have no idea what early maps or day 1 gear would feel like since I rolled this from my TOTA elementalist after completing the TOTA specific challenges. My guess is that it would probably lag behind the more traditional league starters as a lot of Controlled Blazes power comes from hitting APS breakpoints which would be more difficult to do. Losing the amulet would make it feel squishy.

Why do you use "ES recovery" Keystone if enemies can't damage your ES which defend your mana? You literally always recharge your ES without it, you just gut 40% of your sustain or is there any "Take % damage from mana before life" that i cant spot?

I think Defiance of Destiny is a pretty rare drop. I remembered looking early league 3.23 (day 3-4) and it was pretty spendy. You might want to try this out without it as I imagine it would be on the squishy side without that recovery mechanism. Otherwise, I don’t see why not. You can get nice Dawnbreakers for cheap early for a shield.

The majority of the damage contributing to ignites here is not fire, the reason this works is the Shaper of Flames ascendancy from Elementalist. A chieftain variant of this would do significantly less damage, probably not viable.

Amazing video. It looks functional, it looks good! Of course an obvious question is: can you build this from scratch or does it require 20-30 div to get going? Or is this basically ''Go play ignite elementalist and build towards shield charge as you go?'' Other then that, I'm impressed at how you managed to make this work. Those are some big juicy ignites!

To be honest, I'm not sure what it would feel like to play from scratch. I was so far past league start when I sat down for this project that I didn't test out that gearing level. At minimum you'd probably want a Defiance of Destiny and could go from there.

The thing is: its not lack of creativity. It's the league mechanic itself that made Controlled Blaze (which is a melee only support gem) to be unpopular. I'm sure this will change in the upcoming league.

I was testing MoM + EB + Wicked Ward, but I ended up dropping MoM and forgot to respec out of Wicked Ward. Oops. I updated the PoBs in the description a few hours ago to fix this.

Get a fractured base, essence of Torment until 3rd suffix you need. Then Wild Bristle Matron for Suffix Cannot Change then veiled chaos. Bench mana to block mana unveils and unveil (hopefully Onslaught) but any MS prefix is fine. Exalt if you only have 4 mods, then bench the last mod. Greater Ember until you hit shock avoidance, then hit the Eater side with an Exceptional once and Orb of Conflict to elevate shock. You do the Exceptional because it improves your odds in the elevation gamba. Then, once you have enough shock chance, use Greater eater currency until you hit Ignites occur faster. Quality to 20% and you are done.

Elementalist is definitely OP. So is Hatred, and scaling through conversion. Controlled Blaze is still the largest single contributor to damage outside of enabling things. The breakpoints for Controlled Blaze look solvable on other ascendencies, I think a stun ignite Chieftain looks pretty interesting using Concussive Force but I'm not sure if I have the energy to level another character this league 😅

That's definitely a possibility. I went and looked for that Palsteron video. I hadn't seen it, he has some good ideas I wish I had tried out before wrapping up this one. I'm not sure why I defaulted to Polaric Devastation and never tried out Infernal Cry.

Anomalous is best, imho. Normal quality doesn’t do anything for us because we have Shaper of Flames. Anomalous grants a lot of Ignite duration and the other quality reduces our APS.

Not a dumb question at all. You could do something similar with chieftain but very little of the tree would overlap. You'd also lose Shaper of Flames, which means if you kept the same conversion strategy would mean part of your cold hit wouldn't ignite, though most of the damage from the hit currently comes from Fire. It would require some thought but can be done.

I ran a half dozen Dunes with a Legion atlas setup and it was fine, but not as good as a Legion specialist like headhunter TS. Without projectiles it was more tedious to find every mob to pop it early which I think if you are running large quantities would become annoying. It was probably a 50/50 that I could get it open early. What often would happen is a single mob wouldn't fully blow from the ignite prolif / Herald of Ash pop and I would be sort of stuck doing a second lap looking for it.

@@VorajPoE heck yeah, glad im not alone. had this build on my radar for a while. gem damage buffs should be crazy, allows for some flexability. also war banner change is a bonkers cooldown for this. tree should be relatively unchanged. the removal of divine blessing and phys taken nerf requires some adapting for sure tho. im thinkin about droppin determination and doppelganger for cloak of flame, and since the base damage is so buffed up, you can get away with a slightly worse shield like dawnbreaker. patch notes say theyre unchanged, so should be a decent solution to phys damage

@@michu070 Ah, thanks for the tip on the banner. Missed my reading completely. Yea, going to be a lot of adjustments for sure. And having played shield skills before, I'm probably waiting until maps to swap over to save a lot of headache on looking for shield upgrades every few zones and just do WoC ignite. I whipped up some form of a budget PoB tonight.. still needs a lot of tweaking, but mapping set-up is 2.5m in like week 1 gear for me with no Convergence or clusters using a level 14 Shield Charge with 4400 armor Dawnbreaker (half the buffed scaling, doubled the armor on pre-buffed Dawnbreaker). Obliteration should also make for some very comfy mapping until we get into the scepter crafting. Yea, probably going to do the same with cloak. Just expecting to use a random corrupted 6L until week 2 or so. We'll see what happens to Black Morrigan price.

@@VorajPoE yep. going to be using a more traditional ignite setup for a while. woc is one of my personal fave builds that i havent played in a while, also a sucker for flameblast so ill be messing with that for a bit. hoping to be able swap to shield charge relatively early though. hopefully is doesnt take more than a few days but we will see. praying the black morrigan isnt too rare with it being in the core pool vs forced via scarabs, was pretty great. can only wait and see, but i have a good feeling about this build for this league

I actually started this project with Shield Crush + Shield Charge and it worked great, but mechanically I did not enjoy Shield Crush that much so I dropped it and focused on Shield Charge exclusively. I can confirm you should be able to hit dot cap with Shield Crush using more or less this same setup.

It is a nice build for sure, but the controlling blaze itself is rather lackluster, and definitely not build defining IMO. Just slap on a build and sometimes it will be better, sometimes worse than existing ones. In the map showcase your stacks on bosses were rather low (3-6), for deli maps it seems to work only if the momentum is high enough, and the stacks fall out really fast, so it is kinda the case of the "it is good if all other elements are already good". To be clear, I have nothing against you or your build, just a bit disappointed in the design philosophy on the ggg side.
