POE Bad? My Take on a Hard League

POE Bad? Path of Exile Necropolis league has been very challenegeing for new players. Does that mean Path of Exile is now a bad game? POE Bad?

Happy to hear u found your way! I felt like this the first time playing but maybe u should/could set your personal goals with PoE a bit smaller. To do a own MF build after only playing for 2 leagues is a realy big step but maybe thats just because i cant creat builds myself. The league overall is realy heavy i would like to have an option to turn off the lantern/corpsedrops and so on maybe they will add something like that. Hope u still enjoy PoE cause it realy is a great game!

Historically speaking, leagues like this have a lot of controversy, a lot of people complaining, and a lot of people proclaiming that PoE is dead, and they are quitting forever while the league is active. However, after the league is over, people will lament its removal from the game, and relentlessly beg GGG to bring it back. So, if you want to make the perfect item, then play this league now! Once it's gone, its GONE! GGG will not bring back this amount of power back to the core game. Are there issues? Yeah, literally every league has issues, especially two weeks in... But this might be one of the most powerful mechanics to ever be put in the game. A week or two from now the difficulty will be gone as most people will have amazing gear. So spec into the wheel that reduces the power of Haunted Monsters in the bottom left of the Atlas tree until you can handle them. If anyone bails on this league they will regret it a year from now, they always do.

As a player who doesn't enjoy juicing too much, there are a few reliable and easy ways to make currency that I do while alch-and-go mapping. here's a couple you could consider for your video: 1- Chaos recipe. This one is the easiest and requires no investment at all. Just pick up unidentified rares in white and yellow maps, and throw them into your stash until you have 4-5 sets to turn in to the vendor. (a set is an item from each equipment slot, body, helm, gloves, boots, 2 1h weapons, belt, amulet, 2 rings). you get 2 chaos orbs for each set as long as all items are unidentified. 2- leveling support gems. this one is better done in red maps because you earn higher exp/hr in them, so your gems level faster. basically choose a support gem that meta builds wanna use (like crit damage, inc duration, spell echo, etc) and buy 2 weapons from any vendor, put them in your weapon swap and socket the gems in them. the gems will gain exp and level while you're doing normal mapping/delve/heist/whatever. When they reach Lv20, you can vendor each gem with a gemcutter prism to turn it into Lv1 with 20% quality, then list it for sale. 3- use the atlas passive points you get for completing maps to specialize into content your build can do. Many of these are just free money that you get while mapping. Doing Expeditions in yellow+ maps gets you Tujen artifacts that you can trade in for currency. Harvest in red maps gets you a lot of juice that's always in high demand in trade. Essences are also great money if your build is tanky and good at bossing. Just pick a mechanic or 2 that you enjoy running, and play the game.

This is my second league and I got to end game but holy crap as a noob I’m getting my ass kicked and my drops haven’t been good. This is why I’m kind of liking last epoch a lil more right now 😢

I've only played two leagues I skipped the last league.... I followed a very basic ball lightning guide which I switched to a Nova build once I got the transfigured gem... I have been having an absolute blast, once I wrapped my head around the crafting mechanic using the morgue this has been the most deterministic experience in crafting I've ever experienced. This is by far my favorite league although I will admit it is spicy at times

It all comes up to what eachone considerd fun with time consumed ratio, this league seem to be convoluted as for necrocrafting and more nolifers friendly as for new pinnacle bossing, but we all know GGG can dump anything in our belly couse there is no competition

You need to setup an entire tab for like 10c or 5c items, stash all of them in there. If players trying to buy stuff or immediately try to grab your shit, you probably something much more interesting than you thought. I don't sort through 90% of my drops anymore. I let others players on poe trade do that for me, and then I double check if I need it or want it, ahah.

After hours of mapping for shit loot i rage gambled my bank for scarabs trying to hit the big one. Didn't hit, idk if i feel like coming back. Its just not fun to have my maps getting bricked left and right by dumb mechanics. Now I'm stuck in a position where my build feels weak, they nerfed the expensive drops that were keeping me profitable (anarachy allflames), and all the content that is "easy money" (essence, harvest) profits have been nuked into the ground by the new scarabs. You cant run it without fully juicing if you wanna make any decent money per hour. Think I'll come back on tomorrow and bulk buy and sell corpses trying to make my archmage what i want it to be, but im losing motivation quickly that ill be able to afford or obtain chase items.

im not a new player and im playing RF. i still die more than normal. im having a worse time with a build im trying to make work. imma need a lot of currency tho. i hope i can craft something that will give me divines. also, trying to manage all the coffins and crafting corpses is really lame. wish they was a faster way to do it. it takes too long imo. cant wait for the next video.

All leagues can't be winners. Personally not a fan of this one but I set a goal to get the full armor set and got it. The seasonal challenges are pretty easy this league but the league mechanics are too RNG to be good (both the map area mods and corpse crafting). The core changes to the game (moving certain crafts to beastiary, updates to atlas, T17 maps, how to summon ubers) are really good. If you want to feel better i accidentally sold a perfectly rolled flask worth 1.2 divine for 30 chaos so I had my meltdown too.

Don't worry Hawg. I played in my second league Ancestors for the first time Lightning Arrow MF and it was brutal. I was hardstucked at level 93 with MF, in Affliction one league later I brought TS MF to 100. It's all about experience and learning the strengths and weaknesses of a build

PoE is and always has been hard, but Necropolis is in a different league of its own when it comes to difficulty. T17 maps are basically a brick wall for anyone doing uber bosses if your playing SSF.

Being a southern boy from Bama, I appreciate your funny videos, personality and sense of humor. On the PoE end, I never really played much before. This is my first league and it wasn't the necropolis that turned me off specifically. I got to level 41 in act 4 following a build guide and it honestly started to get so much info overload that I just quit. Also, I'm not sure I'm into a game that is all about trading for stuff on the market.

The game does not need any trading at all playing SSF (solo self found) is in many ways superior to playing trade league. It’s just two different games which I personally like, I usually play trade for a while until I’m bored and the switch to SSF. When playing trade u can live out your power fantasy to the fullest and min max your character by only interacting with the parts of the game u like, playing SSF is much more actually playing the game and being forced to learn the mechanics in order to progress your character. If you don’t enjoy trading just go Ssf and try it I love both game modes

most of the complaints I've seen have been about "abuse" cases that people are mad got patched before they could "abuse" it themselves. As someone who plays self-found it hasn't affected me in the slightest. IMO league is great (graveyard is meh, items you can get seem OP) and i've been playing since open beta. Definitely not the worst league by far. Recommend more people try SSF

I think a lot of PoE content fails new players even when giving good advice, usually by leaving out important context that would make that advice make sense enough so people understand they can still do what they want eventually. The big one that comes into play with a hard league is: "You should start by following a build guide." That is entirely correct. BUT it leaves out the context that would make it palatable enough for many new players to actually do it. PoE is a much more account-based adventure than a game like Diablo 4. In D4, you might share a stash, but your characters might as well be entirely separate, as there is nearly nothing that relevantly transfers over to a new character. PoE is miles apart from that. Your second character gets access to all of your most important resources (currency) and tons of items both rare and unique. In PoE, your character is not "your character", your whole account is "your character". When advice says to start by following a build guide, they literally mean to start. The idea is you play that rock-solid, can run on fumes, starter build just to get your initial influx of currency and gear. As build science has improved, a lot of these builds do have paths you can follow to invest currency into them to let you play that same build into other content. But its also entirely expected that you will play that starter for like 75 hours, investing very little currency into it so you can build up a nest egg that you then use to inject rocket fuel into the character you actually want to play long term in the league. You can spend like 10 chaos to get some items you can use from very early to blast through the campaign at hyperspeed. Then you can channel you currency into actual awesome items for your desired build. And if you ever do hit that brick wall where you are frustrated with your desired build, you can always hop over to your starter for a play session, get a new injection of currency, then go back to your desired character. "You should start by following a build guide" does not mean that you have to play that starter build someone else designed for the whole season. In affliction, I played my starter for about 1/5 of my playtime and then made a couple self-builds. This does lead to a valid criticism for some folks though. "You mean I don't really get to play what I want until 75 hours, then like another 25 hours to speed level my real character? Man, I aint even planning to play all that much more that 100 hours. I am spending more time setting up than doing what I want to do." That is all very fair. PoE is a game made to provide an experience where you can play an uncapped amount of time without running out of things to do. It pays for that endless nature by having the minimal investment be much higher than other ARPGs. From my estimation, you need to want to be playing PoE for more than 250 hours in the span of a league for it to feel like it is worth it. Then every hour you spend past that makes it more and more worth it. The estimated time needed also does go down slowly each league you play as your knowledge lets you progress quicker. If that is more than you wanted to spend, there is nothing wrong with that. But it does mean PoE probably isn't for you. But you are in luck, Last Epoch is a great game for that under 250 hour play target. Even D4 for all the shit hurled at it (rightfully so) actually is a pretty good experience in that amount of hours, and really only loses its luster and gets stale as you start to approach the higher amounts of playtime. This investment hurdle makes PoE very often a great match for the subset of the community that wants to make content about an ARPG (twitch, youtube, etc), as they naturally are going to be putting in a lot of hours.

It’s not about it being hard. It is genuinely not fun this league. And as we try to use the same mechanics that more full time players are using, GGG nerfs it. So there is a widening gap between those 1% who have literally thousands of divines, and the rest of us who have 1 or 2 if we are lucky. GGG is actively screwing the non-elite over. It’s messed up.
