POE Moon Dancer Spectre

These are very unique spectres.
They are insanely tanky as they have about 80% the life of a Primal Crusclaw, and 250% life added as extra energy shield.
They have 75% cold resistance and 0% of the others.
They have 2 aura skills.
The chill aura is not used at all.
The Energy shield Aura provides 35% of maximum life as extra energy shield, a small amount of flat scaling energy shield regen, and 25% faster start of energy shield recharge.
This is not used on allies, so might not be used at all, or only on themselves.
They use a projectile spell that scales with their movement speed.
The faster they walk, the quicker the projectiles fly out.
It does not scale with attack or cast speed.
Area of Effect does not affect the impact of the projectile.
They have 4 base projectiles, adding 2 additional for example will result in 12 total projectiles.
These projectiles can all shotgun, but targeting is a little bit clunky.
They might have a bit of additional overlap with the impact of the projectiles, it is hard to verify this exactly.
They have low base cold damage, sources of flat added cold damage should be decent for scaling, such as Bitterdream or Replica Covenant.
They do work with return for additional hits, but having them stand close to bosses for optimal benefit, means they wont be moving to increase the rate of projectiles.
Pierce can help in addition with return to make sure projectiles that have already hit the target can hit again upon return.
Oh yea, these things will DRAIN your FPS.

I saw some big add green circle move in a t17. Wonder if those guys are any good as specters. I tried the specter that mimics the first mini boss of act 4 that dashes and has a gigantic slam but it’s to slow.

My favorite is the tidecaller from the same tribe as the moon dancer, their multi-hit waves are so satisfying.

Looks like many of the wildwood Affliction monsters are available to summon as specters from the Allflame mechanic. I sat and desecrated for a long time, but I couldn't come up with the witches with the chaos spell projectiles. Only ones I saw were the Nameless varieties. Maybe I was in an area too low to get them.

thier behavior seems to just be walk at an enemy and stand near it, so you need to spam convocation to constantly keep them moving maybe meat shield would make them better mechanically, it would make them want to "attack" less and move around more.

I do think Meat shield is an option yea, I do prefer aggressive myself, I like to convocate them to me, and then let them walk towards an enemy with projectiles, aggro means they will do this from further away.

Man, i really wanted to make some tanky af spectre necro with mahuxotl this patch, cause i enjoy minions and you don't need to play zombies to benefit from mahuxotl anymore, plus wraithlord gets rid of annoyance of managing AG and utility summons setups. And now i learned that life leech is bugged and all discovered spectres are projectile based AKA gpu destroyers. I really hope there will be found some viable spectre which isn't like that.

But can they freeze? I think because how slow they move they would make a nice extra bit of artillery to have like one mixed with some Crushsclaws.

They can freeze yes, their base dmg is not that high per projectile however, so freezing might be difficult if they are not supported with enough damage gems.

They work with minion crit, just not with minion cast speed

Bitter dream feels pretty good early on, don't think squire will be the best option later on. Replica covenant should be a really big damage increase as they have low base damage.

A long time ago they used to be able to, sadly you can no longer use ice wall or smth similar to that. Good thinking for sure though.

hey can u do a vid on storm conduit, no one talking about it. It has a sirus beam like spell that has 100% shock and insane base dmg on a cd and absolutely destroys bosses. I enter boss room, instantly one shot boss. Also their spell basic attack has insane range as well with shock chance.

@@feather1ce i would say its ok, but i use absolution as well. i hv the spectres on a 4 link glove, crit dmg, lightning pen, minion damage. Just now i change to raise spectre of transience, free 50% crit chance...even before i was hitting 50% shock on bosses. Just testing how bonkers crit dmg will do. I am in like t10-t12 maps.

Their auto attack is a spell and the sirus beam is aoe. Spell echo wont work on beam sadly Beam and auto spell has insane range. can also use minion area of effect for clear, anything in their beam area is vapourised instantly.

Which support gems should I take with Specter?

I found the most succes with Spectre>Return>Pierce>Greater volley>Minion damage>Hypothermia - Swap for Faster Projectiles when clearing. This is a moving setup, so you want to convocate them to you, then let them walk towards the enemy again, and before they reach the enemy convocate them again and then just repeat this process

tried them with double movement rings, one midnight bargain and haste as well as offering an speed support. pretty whack, tanks performance with 5, dont want to know what the full 11 looks like. might legit crash the game.

So I saw the damage numbers and learned that both the projectile and the impact damage has AOE overlap, and I thought, "These'll be great!" And the damage is great, but they move like your grandpa with Parkinson's decided to mow the lawn. Speed support and Flesh Offering are not enough to kick them into gear. Yeah, they will eventually get the job done, but I ain't got all day, grandpa. Not for me, I'll use a slightly less damaging minion before I'll put up with crappy game play.
