Gemling legionare 500 strength that can be used to use any colour support gems get max resists and then you just need to get armour and chaos res on gear , I think it will likelly get a attack speed nerf , glancing blows now also doubles block and you take 50% dmg so its big on effective life too

Worth noting that these Ascendancy skills can be supported by support gems, which ensures they're going to have a variety of builds for them They did say that in Q&A Regarding Pathfinder and flasks, they also mentioned that there's uniques that can allow you to replace life flask with another mana flask, for example. There's probably more stuff like this

The hammer of the gods skill teased in a previous poe2 announcement was stated to have a long CD. I think second wind support is back, and there it was teased that there may be a support that makes a skill happen twice as one of the examples of what poe2 support gems could do, so we may have on demand echo shrine buff for any skill we want. Meaning you could get 4 hammers drop by default potentially, but if you run chronomancer with the CD reset ascension perk, then you could in theory have 8 hammer of the gods for anything you want. Since passive stats are now select-able in poe2, then starting at the witch/sorc point isn't going to be too much of a determent as you march on over to the left side of the passive tree for big bonk passives.

The fact you get 5 max darkness per level is huge , if you are level 80 it's 500 extra life and with the lack of % hp on the tree it's gonna be a huge ammount

just the fact they can ignore stat type req on skill gems is insane for build variety, question is will it be a jack of all trades master of none, or will it be better than others. Likely the ascendancies for the other classes will outweigh it because it wouldn't be good if gemling was just the best at everything. They will definently be the goto for aura builds, get souped up spirit gear and just equip all the auras at max level. We also haven't even seen most of the nodes yet

I was looking at slam builds because the gameplay looked so meaty but Demon Fire Witch was very close, the only reason holding me back was that I kinda wanted to make a flaming minion/burning army build but it seemed like you loose minions when going into demon form. Luckily in the followup interview with Ghazzy and DarthMT Jonathan said that wasnt intentional and they want minions with Demon form to be a thing so looking forward to that.

They said righteous fire will be tied to templar ascendancy and it will be releasing with that class. It also will work differently. In a sense that it still burns you and the environment around you, but mechanically different.

There’s also no immediate upside and with the increased difficulty I’d suggest trying out an ascendancy that gives character power and then switch to gemling once you get your build fully together to support it in the atlas.

​​@@SargentD4Yes, but you have to upgrade those to 6 links then fill them. By default it's a 3 link and you get 9 at the start. Oh, and you can only use support gems only once, so no doubles. Find 15 more unique support gems. It is such a mad late game class, but none of the things we see so far work without massive investment I'm planning to play it btw..

Its not optimal, but the cost is a single support gem and 5 intelligence so it's worth it for sure

@@MrRafagigapr the thing is however is that because of the gem legionnaire ascendancy I can make it so that the only requirement for the gym is whatever my highest stat is meaning that I can scale it to maximum level. Depending on if raging spirits mainly scales with gem level and quality(especially considering the extra free +12% quality on top of whatever the gem is from the ascendancy as well) the doom slayer build may potentially be good.

im pretty sure raging spirits only procs on AoE/projectile fire spells, so explosive shot wouldn't count since it isn't a spell. you probably don't want to hard-cast spells as merc, but you could use herald of ash or cast-on-crit/cast-on-ignite socketed with fireball/rolling magma to proc raging spirits. super badass in a grenade build or explosive shot build. only problem is the high spirit costs and (probably) not being remotely close to minion passives on the skill tree

On the upside once Druid comes out, imagine volcano plus raging spirits . I reckon becoming a fiery bear is something that could potentially be very awesome with that combo.

Whichever one I end up deciding has the best chance of letting me make a powerful classic heraldbomber, assuming HoT, HoI, and storm secret are still in the game. One of my all-time favorite builds that I just didn't take far enough. From what we've seen so far, I'm guessing one of the sorceress ascendancies but we'll see. Other than that, one of the monk classes (the bell looks awesome) or chronomancer hammerfall. Hammer of the gods, second wind, whatever version of spell echo/multistrike works with it, and the cooldown reset ascendancy skill. Add in a couple of warcries and go bonk.

Ranger for the concoction, there's items that give extra slots but the ranger gets the concoction as a skill (supportable) and wouldn't impact your HP/Mana

Gorespike seems pretty good. Even at 3k life (which if we are even close to PoE numbers is like beginning of end game at worst and probably higher) its 150% crit multi.

I will play: Dual wielding 2h hammers for stuns and auto-attack skill. Melee Weapons have it's own skill that can be socketed into melee. Dual wield have it's own for dual wield also - so we can do frenzy/amok 2h stunner for auto-attacks.

I feel like Gemling Legionnaire will be a good all around ascendancy, and then blood mage can probably be an ascendency for any caster cause you get both defense and offense by scaling life plus leech and it doesn't seem tied to a specific type of damage like some of the others.

Yes I will try all of them, even if month ago I thought I only play one. But I guess I will start with witch and minions but tbh I don't know which ascendacny but blood mage sounds just fun. If I get good stuff next is warrior with dual wielding 2h weapons as Titan. Then monk acolyte or mercenary gemling, both look fun to play. Sorc chronomancer and ranger deadeye would be last, much later and probably just for test.

You can consume corpses to get power charges with a witch skill so if you cast the skill with cast on crit or cast on melee kill you could get loads of charges as long as you kill enemies and use their corpses in theory you could cast flicker strike loads of times

They nerfed flicker strike from what I've seen. No more frenzy charges and no more holding mouse button to teleport, now you hit three enemies and gain power charges, something like that.
