Guitarist Jim Robbins was tired of putting Gaffer / fader tape on both his headstock and behind the bridge of his Guitars to eliminate what he refers to as 'string ring'; that 'chime - like sound' that goes on after the playing has stopped. This is commonly encountered by high gain / de-tuned / 7 and 8 string Guitarists as well as more traditional Guitarists who utilize a more percussive playing style.
