YT wouldn't let me upload the clear picture without having 65% of my audience blocked from the video! it frustrates me just as much as you, trust me! unblocked videos are available on patreon for certain members if you are interested in becoming one! otherwise, i have linked the video i am reacting to in the description box if you wish to watch alongside me :) thank you for your understanding!

Stacey I had the honor of being at this show. I was in the Air Force stationed in California. Iron Maiden played Long Beach Arena 4 nights in March of 1985 and sold out every show without radio AirPlay, without mtv, with protest about their music being satanic. I attended 3 of the 4 shows and since have seen them 19 times. If you get the chance you HAVE To go see them live. The crowd alone is worth the price of admission. Everyone in their Maiden shirts from throughout the years. The album is Live After Death. One of the best live albums ever produced. Up the Irons Stacey!

This song's epic poem inspiration is written by the same English poet who wrote an unfinished poem in an opium-haze which inspired Rush's song 'Xanadu' ... which I notice you have not seen. Rush's live version of 'Xanadu' from their 'Exit ... Stage Left' live dvd is legendary, not only is it one of Rush's best songs and live performances, it pretty much ranks up there with any live performance. You'll love it. Thanks for the reaction, Iron Maiden's 'World Slavery Tour' - which this performance is pulled from - was my first concert experience at age 15, then I saw them again at Red Rocks the next Summer. It was life-changing.

Bruce is the Energizer Bunny who keeps on going and going!! Lol.. The bass player Steve Harris has always been the main driving force for Maiden. They are basically his band. He has always been the main song writer and when you see him mouthing the words, it's likely he wrote the song. You mention the distinctive sound of the band, and that would be Harris's galloping bass style, a trademark of any Maiden song!

Agreed! Bruce & the band taught me a lot, especially about literature. I wasn't in the "smart kids" lit class that got to read this poem and all the other classic greats. But being a metal head, I learned so much from lyrics and the literature that inspired a generation of metal and prog-rock musicians. (Bands like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Rush, Yes, Deep Purple, Frank Zappa, Rainbow / Dio and many more.)

The earliest live concert video for Iron Maiden was filmed in late 1980 when Paul Di'Anno was the vocalist... There were a couple of earlier gigs filmed at Ruskin Arms and the Marquee Club in 1980 (They were not the best quality though) when Dennis Stratton (guitar) was briefly in the band in 1980. The 'Live at the Rainbow' video showed early Iron Maiden performing songs from their first 2 albums, which included 'Wrathchild'... 'Phantom of the Opera' ... 'Killers' ... 'Remember tomorrow'... w/ the line-up of: Di'Anno (vocals), Steve Harris (bass), Dave Murray & Adrian Smith (guitars) and Clive Burr (drums)

"Still Life" is a great deep track from Piece Of Mind that deserves more attention. Nobody EVER reacts to it, and very few people seem to even talk about it. I wish there were more live clips of it, but I've only found one decent one.

Nicko's drum kit hasn't appreciably changed in 40 years. The only differences between the kit here and what he uses now are a ride cymbal & the two chinas in the back & the chimes. Outside of that, its pretty much the same. Same number, sizes, & configuration of the drums themselves. As far as the song goes, it was written by Steve Harris, the bass player, who has written about 85-90% of their songs. I remember reading an interview with him where he said he got the idea for the song because he read the poem in school as a kid. The song is faithful to the poem & a few of the lyrics are direct quotes from the poem.

Each Iron Maiden song is several songs all rolled into one. They are just AWESOME! :) BTW - there's only 1 place you should be at a Maiden concert - and that's at the front, in the mosh-pit!

Yes, I think the mix sounds better on that version. Bruce sounds more articulate, and I feel that the 3 guitarists give it a fuller sound. Great reaction! Up the Irons!!!

Not better but still very good...we just saw Maiden at the peak of its performance, but it was amazing to watch the guys playing it 23 years later, already in their early 50s (Bruce still 49)

@@Trygvar13they were absolutely incredible on the World Slavery Tour! I saw that tour in Cleveland and Twisted Sister opened for them. Twisted Sister hadn't turned into the more commercial version that they become later on yet so they were actually really good as well that night. They played a lot of stuff off of their debut album which was actually pretty hard and a little more my type of music than their later stuff.

Miss Stacy, the beauty of your reactions, are because you don't have a musicians ear. That alone is the reason why great musicians are loved so much. All music is soul music. If it makes you feel anything deep, it's soul music.🤘🔥🤘

We must always bear in mind the great ability and versatility that Bruce Dickinson has shown in his life. He has his career as a historian, he has written books, he has written a film script, he has been an award-winning fencer, in addition to being a Boeing 747 pilot. It's not unusual for him to give these historical connotations from time to time, not so much now. I like your reactions. Greetings from Argentina to be able to show the video on youtube without being overridden by the algorithm some youtubers do is to invert the image from right to left, sure you knew it...but, I hope it is worth the help.

It's with reason that Iron Maiden has an unbreakable live reputation . Steve Harris , the bassist , is the only original band member . Also , Bruce is a certified pilot and is into history , I remember seeing a clip of him even driving a WW2 tank .

I was lucky enough to see Iron Maiden perform 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner' live in concert in 2008 on the 'Flight 666' tour (They had not performed it live since their 1986/ '87 tour) ... and u can check out that live clip from that tour as well 🤘🤘 This clip was from their 80's heyday on their 1984/ '85 'World slavery' tour (Their 1984 album was called 'Powerslave') which was captured on film and audio for their live record (and concert video) 'Live after death' in 1985 when Iron Maiden was a 5-piece band (Vocalist Bruce Dickinson, bassist Steve Harris, guitarists Dave Murray and Adrian Smith, and drummer Nicko McBrain) Nicko McBrain (drums) joined Iron Maiden in 1983 (He replaced drummer Clive Burr) for their 4th album 'Piece of Mind' and has been the band's powerhouse drummer... His kit was always built very high because McBrain is a tall fella, and the audience at Maiden concerts unfortunately never get a good view of him playing live but he's got a following... Steve Harris (bass) is the band's founder/ co-producer/ songwriter and from day 1, he has always been a manic performer onstage and gives 100% of his energy! His drive & dedication has been Maiden's constant boon since their inception in 1975 in the pubs of London. Some of the more 'epic' songs by Iron Maiden that became live favorites included - 'Sign of the Cross' ... 'The red and the black' ... 'The Clansman' ... 'Paschendale' ... 🔥🔥

Fun facts Nico McBrain the drummer was a guest on the Sooty show a childrens show for a drum battle against Sooty. Bruce owns his own jet a pretty large one and he's a trained pilot and a historian. Steve Harris the bassist once said in a metal magazine he believed Nightwish was the way of the future as he liked the concept of that style Symphonic metal was new back then. Bruce performed a song for Arjen Lucassen called Into the black hole. Part of the Ayreon's project but was only Audio there is no live performance with Bruce. Arjen had a couple of different singers perform this live but listen to the Audio version you'll hear Bruce's distinctive vocals. I was born Febuary 21 1974 same birthdate as Floor Jansen lol except different year. My fav band in the Eighties was Iron Maiden, Metallica, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath plus much more. I've developed over the years to Enjoy newer styles of music Ayreon, Sabaton, Epica, Nightwish just to name a few but i'll always enjoy these classics that brought me into metal and opened my ears. Thank you always great reactions from you.
