The winds of change blew in today. The wheels of progress is rolling our way. BAD and GOOD can both take place. Bad it will change all I ever knew here and more people more rules less freedom less privacy. Good- I WILL CASH IN AND MAKE SOME SERIOUS CASH!!!! Probably wont spend it cause I am a tight wad but hey.... rainy day funds!
We are a Fil Am couple sharing our lives between living in Texas USA and Panay Island Philippines. We share dealing with two different cultures, building our solid concrete cast in place home beach side and exploring/ seeking new things. We hope you enjoy and join to be a apart of a bigger family here on this channel.
Thank you for being apart of our channel and lives.

Property Taxes here in the DFW area have been on a tear for almost 10 years now. Mine went up 78K the last cycle and I filed a protest and got a 65K rebate. A 13K increase isn't to hard to take as it's only a few hundred dollars. And your right in that you'll get some serious cash and you'll never have to work another day in your life if that's what you want. Like I tell my kids, money does not buy you power or influence but it gives you options. Use your options wisely and you'll be a happy happy family. And may God bless you both.

It was a nice ride about James and Melinda. Times are changing and the people moving here from other states ( Cali ) have really done a number on the property value. Everybody saw cash cow🐮 with them coming started selling off things. Rent houses in the city have disappeared, displacing a lot of people. As you know with the eviction band landlords started selling off their property. I know it's a tough decision selling off land that you love, that's it's been in the family. The only thing you don't want to let them box you in. When they do that it cuts the value of your property and they try to offer you chicken🐔🐓feed.

Its sad but this trend is going to continue and Texas is in the sights of many people. Farmland in Michigan has been slowly shrinking due to the many new subdivisions going in. Does Texas have some kind of exemption for personal property of the owners who have been there long term? At least though you will have your Philippine property to go to if prices get too high. BTW, how do you get around Philippine law that says foreigners can't own land? Good luck to you and Mel 😀

I grew up surrounded by cotton fields in Richardson. (Little o me got in trouble with the Police department because I was in the field torching a few cotton balls on some of the plants). I told them and my parents that I had rubbed 2 sticks together 😂 Those fields were turned into homes, the Highschool (LV Berkner) I later went to and now the delapitated Richardson Square Mall. Heck it's probably been torn down since I was last there. I still remember when Frisco was a 1 stop sign hick town. Look at it now. Nothing but Doctors, Lawyers and a few Cheesy people. Real estate always goes through cycles. If you're really planning on selling you better start liquidating when the market's hot the way politics and the economy is today it could turn on a dime. You got a beautiful house in the Philippines and like you said you can come back here when things settle down and take your RV and go see the rest of the country here at your own leisure and not have to worry about being tied down with farm tools and cows and deadbeat renters.

They forecast this area to stay hot no matter what just like it has done thru the last two drops. Here stayed hot as well as a few other places in the country. I have made a lot of money off of real estate. I stay wise to these things. Like everyone now commenting or cut your losses and scrap that house and all I can do is laugh because I know I will still make a chunk and that house has been just baby sitting a property for years while I waited for the values to jump. I own the adjacent property as well and now they are selling high high high.I made a fortune off one around the corner 2 years ago. Had jacked up mobile home on it as well.

@@TexasFilipino yes but the other side of the coin is how much money do you need? You want to enjoy life while you're young and have your health. I was in my 40s yesterday now I'm in my 60s. I've had a lot of time over the last couple weeks to think about the future as I came down to Florida to help a friend out with a project for 3 days and ended up getting covid and can't return home. Stay away from this, trust me it's no fun. Covid it'll make you realize what's important real quick.

With the mass influx of people abandoning places like CA it's no surprise that houses are hitting the market and getting 10 offers in the first day over the asking price. If you decide to sell anything add 20% to what you wanted and bids will come in over that.

once my neighbor spread something unknown with a stRong odor of "DEAD" on the field next to me, but he lived miles away so he did not have to smell it after it rained. The substance was a dried black colored substance, and decided it may be dried blood, but was never sure what it was, except that it smelled awful for a long time. Also not sure, but i think my neighbor did it for spite, since i was trying to buy a parcel of land that he was also trying to buy, so maybe he did not like that, i may have been the reason that he had to pay more for the land, since he ended up buying it.

I think every one in every state is haveing the same issue with property taxes. I really take issue to taxing on proposed value. Seems like they want to tax us out of ownership. I have multiple parcels and I get hit with an additional 500 school tax that is bassed just on parcel So if you have 100 acres in 10 parcels then you pay 5k, but I'd that 100 is one parcel you only pay 500. Our government is getting a little bit out of control

Just curious James...Isn’t farmland or agricultural land taxed at a much lower rate than residential or commercial property? If not then farmers and ranchers will demand higher prices for commodities and beef contributing to inflation which hurts everyone.
@TexasFilipino
@TexasFilipino 3 жыл бұрын
Yes we pay lower but they are making it harder to declare it. Then your house area is not ag exempt so they tax the holy heck of of that to increase it more. Lastly what has happened to us is we now have 3 major water lines going across our land now. We was forced to sell it. Then here come encore with a power line - forced again and big ass poles across the land plus we already had a power line going another direction. Now it is chopped to shit! So now we are told they want to build a new Farm to Market Road ( Funny since the farm is what is being squeezed out. ) They are planing to taking 60 foot of frontage off my beautiful land across the street. This will remove Oaks that are 150 to 200 years old! It is plum sickening. Again no choice and the squeeze put on. The farmlands adjoining me here are now sold off except one place. That place has been divided down smaller after the owner died and several inherited it. It will never be what it was as a community again. So I will probably thin down over the next 3 years - keep my house and chopped up land with easements that cant be developed if I did want to sell it behind me here and live traveling. Actually I am ready for it. Im just venting my sadness to see it lost to houses and swarms of people. A D.R .HORTON Homes Subdivision just broke ground a couple miles from here. Fox Trails I think is its new name. They bulldozed off the land and begun. Now directly across the road from there there are clearing and bulldozing as we speak.

just as Ben Franklin said in 1789, "Our new Constitution is now established, and has an appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes", and as Christopher Bullock said in 1716, before Ben, "Tis impossible to be sure of anything but death and taxes". in my own experience here in southern Illinois, a 20a bottomland pasture that floods after every heavy rain, which i purchased in the late 80's, the 2ax was only $20, but after the state performed some type of soil survey, sometime after year 2000, the tax is now $292, and the same 20a still floods. Your situation in Texas is the worlds truth. Over population drives supply and demand, and you have what the people want, and the people are willing to pay to get it. Hope you can hang in there and keep and enjoy what you have worked so hard your whole life for. You can beat them at their own game and "subdivide" before you have to sell, for you earned every penny that you can get. Should always keep something to go home to, also. Nothing better than raising hay and cattle though, so i do not know how i will feel when, and not if, i have to stop eventually. Great channel and great videos.

I have been watching the influx of west coast migration to Texas. I knew it was going to have a huge impact on the way of life there. Years ago I was going to buy property in Northern Wyoming or Montana and at the time, late 90's, many Cali folks had moved to the same area's. I was told the house prices skyrocketed along with property tax and everything else. That the area change so much and so drastically that you would not even recognize it. People born and raised there said the west coasters just moved in and took over with all their lefty/Liberal agenda's. That is the story I am hearing everywhere they go. Once they start moving into the area it will never be the same.
