Long comment incoming: So a fun potential detail regarding Love Will Come to You. I don't think it's ever been confirmed but I've seen the theory that the old man by the waterfront during the video is the same guy from Dancing on Broken Glass who was last seen staring out over the water after the apparent death of his girlfriend/wife. As to the song itself I've generally taken it as a song about heartbreak and moving on. The lyrics come from the point of view of the previous lover who passed away and they are telling their partner that everything will be okay. The lyrics at the start for example: Life doesn't run a clear course It flows through from within It's supposed to take you places And leave markings on your skin Basically saying that you can't know where life is going to go but the fact that it leaves those memories and emotions is what shows it was good. It was valuable enough to you to leave that imprint. Even if it hurts the fact that you feel because of it is because it was something real or as the song puts it "a sign of something true" It then goes on to follow this up with: And your tears have been worthwhile They got you through To a different place and time where all is new To the start of something fine Like morning dew Your love will come again to you Aka that pain is also how we cope, it's what will help get us through the hard times just let ourselves let it out through our sorrow and grief, but that eventually that will fade and things will be happy again. Like morning dew which symbolizes the dawn. The night ends and the sun rises to the sparkle of morning dew. Beauty and joy out of the darkness. As to standstill: This song is a really special one to me personally. I mention on your previous video for the songs Psychosis and Someone Special that I've had dealings with depression and anxiety and that has largely in part come from exactly what Standstill talks about. That feeling where you feel like you yourself are at a Standstill. You keep messing up, failing, procrastinating whatever and it starts to eat at you as you feel like you've messed up your life or made some horrible mistake that has ruined everything. But as the song says Yeah, it's alright if you fall You just get up, just go on Never mind the hurt, even if you burn 'Cause it's all gonna be so much better The moment your true self's shining through Even if you messed up you just get up and keep pushing even if that first step is out of the frying pan and into the fire making things harder you just keep pushing to try and reach what you want at which point even if it's been difficult and even if it took a long time you'll still get that satisfaction and accomplishment in the fact that you tried. Even if in the end you don't get everything you ever wanted you weren't at that standstill and were always pushing forward. In my case I've spent a lot of time feeling like I'm at that point. I hid behind lies I told myself I kept thinking I'd start changing things tomorrow and it just would never happen and that created a downward spiral. I'd end up feeling trapped by the weight of how much I'd screwed up and the time I'd wasted. Thankfully things are better now (again I give some credit to Poets of the Fall for this as their music played a good part in helping me work through) but I'd say it's fairly obvious why songs like Standstill hit especially close to home for me. It's not their most complex song but it's a great example of one that really touches on real issues people go through and can become almost an anthem for that and to help guide them forward. Also on a fun lighter note towards the center of the song one of the lyrics says: Through all these dawns Oh, winter blues Still wondering why And what's the use Oh, the first hello To the late goodbye When I'm made new, yeah Late Goodbye is a clear reference to a previous song from PoTF. A nice little callback for fans of their music. Especially given that Standstill is one of their more recent songs while Late Goodbye was their debut single.

I saw this and thought, holy hell thats a lot of text. So i put on some coffee and settled in for the "Stephen King" "book" And you know what, i enjoyed every word. I love how you broke down every inch of the lyrics. AND, im happy that you didnt mentioned the lollipop "indcident" =)=)=) keep on being you, coz i enjoy it very much.

@@Reckyj yes! I'm always for "go with the flow". And tbh, i find it annoying when i see so much edited videos, when they make cuts in the middle of the sentence even for 10 times, just cuz they wanna look perfect in each word but in the end it looks so stupid. At least to me. So that is why i like this "spontaneous style" :)

The coming song video "Stay 4 Ever" (in 15th March) will feature a revamped song from the original "Stay" one that has evolved through times when they've sung it during lives. So maybe you can hear the original first (or the already more sophisticated one from Live Moscow 2013) then hear the new stuff!

Welcome back! I think it would be interesting for you to listen to the original version of Stay and then hear the new version they're about to release. That way your experience will match all of ours. Songs I had to listen to several times to like: 'Dancing on Broken Glass' definitely because it is a really stark diversion from all my favourite songs by them and it took me a while to get used to the different sound, and 'The Happy Song' which makes my skin crawl in ways I can't quite define (though I think that is intentional). It's still not one I listen to if I can avoid it. Looking forward to whichever song you'll react to next and crossing my fingers for 'Heal my Wounds', which I think has been recced for a couple of weeks (months?) now by various people.

To my interpretations, they lost somebody/someone and someday there will find love again. The Oldman probably lost his wife/girlfriend (probably the lady in dancing on broken glass), the mother and child husband left them, the dancing couple, when the guy was dancing alone he stumbled and fall yet when he finally found her they dance in sync. The tattoo couple found love in their own perfection. Sorry for my English is my 3rd language.

It is a lollipop 😂... the moth, don’t know if it is a drawing or whatnot... check out the poster for the movie Silence of the Lambs... not sure if they did it on purpose though... The music video will be for Stay and the version of the song is called Stay Forever... there is no old video for Stay. Check the band’s FB page for the little story 😉 You should listen to Standstill again and pay attention to the lyrics, I find them very uplifting just like Love will come to you... withdrawl, yeah happens to me too when I haven’t played Poets for a couple of days... nice video, take care 😁
