The quality of locally produced firearms in Pakistan, with a few exceptions like Daudsons, does not meet international standards. Daudsons, for example, is transparent about the materials they use and even offers warranties, which is commendable. Unfortunately, other local manufacturers, as well as some international brands available in Pakistan, do not provide such assurances. As a consumer willing to invest hundreds of thousands of rupees in a firearm, I expect it to be well-made, reliable, and worth the price, not just overpriced. I have used products from Wah Industry, which claim to manufacture under license and assert their products are not clones but made with the same machinery as the parent company. However, there is a noticeable gap in terms of quality assurance and finish, which raises concerns. It’s an industry standard that when manufacturing under license, the product should meet the parent company’s specifications, including quality control, materials, and overall finish. I’ve noticed that in neighboring countries, companies are successfully manufacturing firearms like Webley and Smith & Wesson, strictly adhering to the standards of the original brands. This raises the question: why can’t we achieve the same level of quality here in Pakistan? While emotions and patriotism are important, a firearm's primary purpose is self-defense. If the quality assurance is in question, then the very reliability of the weapon becomes uncertain. When it comes to safety, we cannot afford to compromise. If we cannot trust the quality of local firearms, then what is the point of purchasing them at all?
