Poilievre says Liberals now forced to do "exactly the opposite" of previous policy on inflation

During question period in the House of Commons on Monday, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre once again took aim at the Liberal government's handling of the ongoing inflation crisis.
"Isn't it ironic that the solution to the problem the government will have to pursue if it wants to make life more affordable is to do things exactly the opposite of what they have been doing for the past seven years," Poilievre said.
"On inflation, our government is taking concrete steps to reduce child care fees...doubling the GST credit, providing a one-time GST credit payment for renters. And Mr. Speaker, 500,000 kids will get dental coverage they've never had before," said the Minister of Tourism Randy Boissonneault in response.
The Conservatives and Liberals also traded jabs over the price of carbon.
"It's proven to him that Canadians receive more from a dividend then they put out on pricing," said Minister of Immigration Sean Fraser.

I'm 40 years old, I'm indigenous and living in Canada, and i'm broke. I have worked my entire adult life, and have been single for 12 years. If the carbon tax is effectively a fine for polluting as Justin Trudeau has said several times, why is it claimed that Canadians recieved the same or more in carbon tax rebates than they paid? That's the Liberal talk right now, Canadians will receive the same or more in carbon rebates than they paid in carbon taxes. If this is true, then why the tax at all? Clearly it's pointless if this were true. What's it doing, depriving Canadians of money needed now only to have it back after they've lost their homes, or had to go hungry, or risked freezing to death, etc? This is so true for most of us. My dad bought his first house while delivering news papers. I work as a carpenter and make so much more than he did, and yet I cannot dream of owning a house in Canada right now. I've worked this job for 4 years and the prospect of buying a house is getting further and further away. My savings are growing slower and slower with each passing year and my wage is going up. Liberals keep harping on about how they are making life more affordable for young people, and the middle class by charging those same people more and more for living in Canada each year. Our cost of living is going up, our house prices are on a free fall in rising price. We are getting poorer and poorer even though our wages are climbing. Getting a pay raise means nothing if it makes everything more expensive. Not to mention the ridiculous notion that carbon taxes are helping the environment. The carbon tax penalizes people who do things that are bad for the environment. If you heat your house to 28 degrees and drive a big truck, you’ll pay more in taxes than you get back. If you insulate your house and ride the bus, you’ll pay hardly any carbon taxes, and the rebate will be more than the taxes. Basically, polluters give money to people who are environmentally friendly.

Let me tell you a thing or 2. We eat everyday, gas in our vehicles regularly, have to pay our rent/mortgage/utility bills monthly. Kids may go to the dentist twice a yr. Sure it is great to think that kids will have coverage when they go to the dentist, BUT how about you lower the cost of everything else and we will take our children to the dentist when they need to. Reality is that neither the conservatives or the liberals will do what's best for average Canadians, they will both act in the best interests of lobbying friends and hand Canadians the crumbs. Conservatives are good at pointing out where Liberals are falling short, but never have a real plan to address the issues because they don't actually have the desire to help.
