This workshop demonstrates how visualize point cloud data in Unity (2018.4). Using the Pcx importer package and a point cloud scan acquired with the Scanse Sweep 3D LIDAR scanner we'll create an interactive walk through with a first person character controller in Unity.

00:00:00 Introduction
00:02:00 Install the Pcx - Point Cloud Importer/Renderer for Unity and import a binary .ply point cloud file. Download the unitypackage for Pcx from: github.com/keijiro/Pcx/releases and see github.com/keijiro/Pcx/ for more information on the different import settings for .ply files.
00:05:30 Transform the point cloud scan to roughly fit the units in the Unity scene (1 unit = 1 meter).
00:08:32 Add a plane underneath the point cloud model, this will become the surface the first person character controller can walk on.
00:09:50 Create a new material/color and apply it to the plane.
00:12:39 Install the Unity Stardard Asset package and add a first person character controller to the scene. Delete the main camera.
00:17:12 Fine-tune the first person character controller settings (background color, walk/jump speed, etc.) and try out the scene.
