I think for anyone new to model railway would struggle to follow if a CDU was needed for DCC Digital Point Motors. I think the voice over helped Wayne. Keep up with your layout.

Thanks for this. Building a new layout and stuck between Cobalt and MP1s and I think you might have persuaded me to go with the latter… size, variable pin etc. makes sense. Coming along nicely!

@@davidspottiswoode3831 yes they are definitely a great option, especially when you have limited height under the board like mine.

SOLENOID MOTORS DESTROY PECO TIEBARS !!!! A known problem dating back to the days of the chunky H&M Solenoid point mechanism, is that such motors will eventually destroy the Peco plastic tiebar, which renders the point useless. If you want longevity of reliable operation without having to replace your PECO points, you really should install proper "Motor driven point mechanisms" such as Fulgurex (Swiss made). Such mechanisms wind over the point slowly, and when used with Peco points require the problematic "hair spring" under the Peco tiebar to be removed. This is done easily as the baseplate under the tiebar has four metal clips (above it) that can be bent and the baseplate removed temporarily, simply to get at and remove the tiny hair spring !!! I've used Hundreds of Fulgurex mechanisms for over 40 years on numerous exhibition layouts, and have not found anything comparible whether British, American or even Japanese made. Indeed Fulgurex mechanisms order by mail order direct from Fulgurex in Switzerland (they speak English) are far cheaper than buying them from British shops. (Switzerland like Britain is NOT in the EU, which means NO VAT)

MP1 motors are great. Using ferrules on stranded wire will make things easier.
