There used to be a enhanced A2 peep that had a standard small and the larger was in between the diameter of the standard a2 large and small. One of the best sights made for a fighting rifle. Havent seen one in like a decade.

The best aperture for a fighting rifle is by far the CSAT rear aperture by XS Sights.

Subbed due to your Paul Harrell tribute, stuck around for your quality content. I run a carry handle on my 10.5 and a 20 inch. Mostly for looks, but also to keep sharp on irons. Interesting insights. I'd rather a group go lower than higher : hitting belly with a chest hold is better than hitting air over the head. 👍

Fascinating stuff. I’d also be curious about the difference in zeroing a carbine length sight radius vs a rifle length. I’ve managed to do it myself but it’s never very precise for me. Rifles length is easy but carbine I always have to redo it a few times.

The 0-2 aperture is for use in low light or moving targets out to 200 meters. The small aperture is what you normally use. The point of impact for the small aperture is 2.5MOA higher than the 0-2 aperture with a 20-inch barrel. Over 3 MOA with a 16-inch. As for the point of impact shifting left to right between the two? I've never noticed it irl.

I think the windage shift is so minor it won't matter.
