I LOVE THIS GUY. People tend to automatically put producers and dj-s in the same basket. IT IS NOT THE SAME. I love producing and I never had in mind to play in front of people. I just love writing and making something new. I am experimenting with production for about a year now and It was trial and error. My sound doesn't sound professional and my music skills are really not that great. But I still love it, I love expressing my feelings and being able to plant it in someone else.

I hate seeing so many people downplay these showcases of skills because of little hiccups or they're not showing what the artist's are doin. If you are really about dj'ing you're paying attention whether there's enough content or not. Listen and learn. Great class DVS1!

Is there actually a need for a 'masterclass' for beatmatching based DJ mixing? Cool thoughts on DJing philosophy etc but I struggle to find a need for a supposed 'masterclass' for DJing that relies solely on one technique.

I’ve reviewed video today… still not impressed. I have to admit transition was smooth an seamless, he was fast. Maybe tracks choice wasn’t too good, and no culmination, everything started flat and finished flat. I’ve seen dj’s who were able to build crazy as f@ck energy within two first tracks. I’m 45 y.o. techno guy. I’ve seen many, many dj’s and have experience playing on parties. Conclusion: technical but emotionless.

I know quite a few dj`s living in Sweden, the Midwest and in Berlin that are better than DVS1, but do not get booked all around the world. Same as there are plenty of hard working and brilliant actors that never gets to feature in a Hollywood movie. It is also about who you meet, timing and a bit of luck. He even says so himself at the end.Same as Ryan Elliott, brilliant Detroit dj that know is picked up by the Ostgut agency. He was lucky to meet Matthew Dear and be introduced Ghostly International. Same as Marcel and Ben was there at the right time to be picked as residents at Berghain.
@irisssss604
@irisssss604 7 жыл бұрын
^ And?... what are you trying to say?. You have to ask yourself WHY them DJ's aren't getting booked around the world?.. Luck is being ready when the opportunity arises and i believe you create your own luck from the decisions you make and the work you put in. All these little time and place moments that happened for these artists happened when they were ready enough to take them with full force. DVS1 meeting Derrick or Klock would of been irrelevant if he wasnt an amazing DJ with a unique production style under his belt. But he was ready and had the skill set when the luck of the moment happened for him.
