I Attempted an 8 Player Pokemon Nuzlocke

I got together my friends Alpharad, CDawgVA, RTGame, Ludwig, pChal, SmallAnt, and CaptainKidd, and attempted to completed Pokemon Platinum with them. I complete gym 1, then pass the save file to alpharad to gym 2. He then gives the file to CDawgVA to beat gym 3, etc. until it returns to me to finish the elite 4 and beat the champion. Can we do it? and how much of a mess will it be?

To be fair, Jan does insanely difficult Modded games as HC Nuzlockes regularly. Even Garbage Green, his own brainchild, was eventually defeated by him. Pokemon Platinum is just breakfast Wheaties with Chocolate Milk to him at this point.

Great video. One thing really stands out and sticks in my brain: how Ludwig's sabotage feels so different to CaptainKidd's, narratively speaking. Ludwig seemed to me to fill the in-story role of 'spiteful traitor', like his personal beef came first. Leaving (what he presented as) only one Pokémon because he 'wanted pChal to suffer'. The antagonist you love to hate. Meanwhile CaptainKidd seemed more like a meta force of raising the stakes. It's not personal, in-story betrayal: it's authorial, almost. He left what he thought would be entertainingly difficult yet still viable options, having had the truly OP mons like Smant's Lucario carry the game this far. The setup for tension and (hopefully) triumph. An interesting distinction, that imo adds a layer of thought-provocation to this fun challenge run and video. Good stuff. (Before you come for me, Ludwig stans: I'm speaking narratively. This is the first I've seen of the guy, I'm not making any real-world character judgements. In fact, I tend to believe that if anyone is truly a dickhead outside of playing at lighthearted villainy for content, people don't usually agree to work with them so readily.)

Its also about timing and behavior. Ludwig's sabotage was relatively early on and personally targeted towards the next player in line, who could (and did) fix it, and seeing the how easily handled it was was entertaining for everyone to watch. Kidd's just comes across as petty dickery right before the end and seems to have only entertained *himself*, and yhe way he went about it was actually fairly annoying to several people.

Gotta be honest, Captain Kidd intentionally sacrificing all the Pokemon almost made me not want to finish the video. Ludwig's was at least funny, and it wasn't right at the end of the run, so there was time to fix it. Ludwig made it entertaining by giving it the twist of "I seemed like I was helping but actually I'm being petty!" Kidd was straight up from the start he was killing them because they were too good, not any entertaining reason or method. It wasn't fun, especially after seeing how much effort got put into that Lucario. Honestly I only kept going because Eric getting attached to the pokemon at the beginning made me want to see if he got more pokemon to be attached to... PChal and Smant's sections were my favorites, they were what I was hoping the whole run would be... people working together.

I just watched that part… I hate Kidd now. Not only was he being more cringe than Ludwig (who was throwing on purpose out of spite), but he didn’t care for the rest of the run or the Pokémon that he got killed for the sake of content and the “haha”s. Even Alpharad put an effort in his “I don’t give a $&€£¥@ about these Pokémon” without reaching the cringe area, because he didn’t want to lose. Yeah if CaptainKidd was trying to be funny by killing Lucario (among other things), he failed. It just felt like a really uncool move, especially after Smant spent so much time training it up. Ludwig's trolling was at least entertaining since it was a lead-up to Pchal, who is the most equipped in this group to play around that kind of thing - and was made funnier by how easily he fixed it after Ludwig tried so hard to sabotage him.

That's what the difference is, placement and the next player. Jan is a great player who could fix anything and this was only halfway through the run so even if he couldn't do much others could and as you said the villain monologue everything made ludwig funnier.While kidd did it at the end of the run specifically targeting anything good and left crow who to my knowledge isnt a high level nuzlocker like kidd and Jan with so few options he basically said this is the team your using and it seemed like he did it to make it more difficult for no reason and it would be pretty clear if he looked in the box someone already did what he did aka sabotage its so unnecessary for a second person to do it and it feels like even if ludwig didn't kill them all kidd would and well idk. Meh leaves a bit of a sour taste
