Lando T hasn't been anywhere near the force it was in the past this gen, so I'm guessing he based it on gen 5-8 sets, when it was way more obnoxious. I think mega Ray is the strongest pokemon in the history of pokemon (or at the very least the strongest up to gen 6 which is all the hack had implemented), so it being the "final boss" makes sense; and some of the strongest moves in pokemon reduce your stats as a downside so "contrary + moves with absurd base power that lower your stats" is a likely choice as well.

​@@NightKev Outside other Megas, he only things that might compete raw stats wise is Ultra Necrozma, Zygarde Complete, and Stellar Terapagos. Only thing that actually beats it raw stats wise is Eternamax Eternatus. Zygarde and Terapagos have higher HP, but are far weaker offensively and overall has lower stats. Eternatus has ridiculous defenses (255 HP, 250 Def, 250 SDef), but much lower offenses (slightly less than 2/3 Mega Ray's). Best alternative is Ultra Necrozma. Very slightly lower defenses, slightly but meaningfully lower attack (92% of Mega Ray's), but meaningfully faster (12% faster). However, up to Gen 6 only, a more defensive option is Zygarde Complete. Much less scary offensively, but over double the HP. Among Megas, two stand out. Mega Mewtwo (either one) is also a scary option, both have same BST as Mega Ray. Mega X is just as bulky, slightly stronger physically (but weaker on special side), and slightly faster (13%). Mega Y is even faster than that (21% faster than Ray), slightly but meaningfully more powerful and bulky on the special side, but much more frail on the physical side (70% Def). However, both have worse typings than Mega Ray. The other standouts are Mega Latias/Latios. Give them a Soul Dew (the older version), and they are much scarier on the special side offensively and defensively. Latias has 16% more SAtk and 125%(!) more SDef. Latios has 33% more SAtk and 80% more SDef. They have less HP (both have 76% of Mega Ray's HP), but Latios has just as much Def and Latias has 20% more Def. They have much lower physical Attack (Latias 55%, Latios 72%), but are only slightly slower (96% as fast). Among these, Mewtwo X is the best alternative. Best physical attacker, so the best contrary moves (V-Create, Close Combat and equivalents) are all available. Also, it has an item slot available. Without Soul Dew, Latias/Latios is much weaker, but with it they could spam Draco Meteor and equivalents to become much scarier offensively, while still using V-Create and Close Combat (and equivalents) to bulk up in theory. A much scarier offensive threat, and Mega Latias in particular would be an even scarier wall before boosts.

this is a funny concept. instead of making the gifted pokemon yours, make the gifted pokemon the pokemon of the opponents. this will make battles against troll 'gifters' really easy and battles against people who actually wanted to give you good pokemon a lot more difficult lol

Legit I think just the champion's team would make it impossible. I don't think any pokemon could stop that mega ray from getting going. My best thought would be a choice banded weavile, since it outspeeds as long as 1, he gives it enough speed EVs, at least 12 speed IVs, and isn't a - speed nature, and OHKOs with icicle crash with choice band or life orb (and has an 87.5% chance to OHKO with an nevermeltice), but that would require him to 1, get a weavile in a randomizer, which can't be guaranteed or even made reasonably likely, and even if he gets that, he needs to either get weavile in on a sack exclusively to extremespeed, since literally any boosts will either mean weavile dies to extremespeed, can't KO with icicle crash, or just gets outspeed and V created, or otherwise force the AI to pick ray against a weavile), and he'd still need to hit a 90% accurate move and avoid the possible extremespeed crit (Although I don't think the AI would use extremespeed there since both of its other attacking moves always kill) and all of that, including most likely a sack, just for one mon. And if the AI uses the stealth rocks before that, then weavile won't be able to be used at all during the fight before that , since 2 stealth rock switch ins, or rocks plus any chip, and the AI could go for the kill with extremespeed (also can happen off one stealth rocks round if the weavile is - defense nature) Other option would basically be something like a latios or other strong, fast dragon type that can drop a draco or outrage, but that still relies on preventing it from boosting, and if the rayquaza is jolly, rather than adamant like I was assuming (assuming that atsign gave it a useful nature and EVs, even though the AI rarely had that in the games before gen 7), then the only gen 6 and earlier dragon types that outspeed it and aren't mega pokemon are noivern (needs a plus speed nature, and with life orb you remove the risk of bad EVs, as well as the possibility of a low roll not KOing that exists without a boosting item). The other options are an arceus with a draco plate, or having a weather team to make something like kingdra or one of the rock type swift swim users outspeed. Only thing else I can think of would be a prankster sableye to burn it or a whimsicott or tornadus/thundurus with tailwind, but then you're sacking 2 pokemon potentially, and having to deal with boosts. The main issue with any of these is that none of them can be setup consistently with randomized wild pokemon.

I only wish that we had a reference sheet for what all/most of the pokemon had for moves and abilities since you only checked for some of them, part of the fun for these kinds of challenges (for me at least) is understanding the thought process of how different people make their pokemon

I genuinely want to see someone hardcore nuzlocke this, but with modified HGSS encounters so that each area has set pokemon you can encounter instead of just being randomized, but you can encounter all the pokemon gens 1-6. It seems like it would be... mildly challenging

Cool idea. Idea for a follow up: similar egglocke trainers, but you can't catch any pokemon. Your editors/mods make your starter options, and you can take one pokemon from any trainer you beat.
