As much as I hate backseaters, I also hate people who say "the game doesnt have a good ending!! It doesnt matter what you kill!" For this game because thats completely false. If we know toby fox, especially after the snowgrave route proves it in capter 2, your choices DO matter, and I guarantee you the games true "good ending" will be impossible if at any point in the playthrough you hurt people, just like with undertale. Backseaters suck, but I dont understand how people miss things like the very clear instructions by ralsei not to fight, unintentionally. And im not gonna shit on eric for anything. Im just confused why he fought everything first after playing undertale LMFAO.

I will say that Toby literally said that there are no branching endings to the game like in undertale. Will your routes with the game change throughout based on your previous actions? Probably. I'm almost confident even some parts of the ending will ultimately change, but the consequence will likely stay the same. I actually kind of appreciate that change, bc it makes it more friendly towards newer players vs undertale which uses a much more brutal and exact approach. You do have to really go out of your way to deviate from the normal route, which is nice for those going in blind for example. I'm playing my game by fighting enemies until they are tired and pacifying when I can (if that's not possible, I spare). Letting people have that much control over their playthrough is a nice change of pace to me at least. On the whole backseater situation, happens in literally every story based game with choices or any game with complicated mechanics for that matter, doesn't surprise me at all.

@@Firefly256 Yeah, in a way there is more then one ending for each chapter. I really hope people give deltarune a chance after undertale, bc I really do think it's got it's own story to tell seperate from what undertale had to offer. I know we loved all the choice based endings in undertale, but the illusion of choice can make for just as impactful of a story along with a very compelling moral conclusion for the player to take away from playing the game.

I dunno, the first save-point that you find in the Dark world claims that Kris has seen them before, 'the light only you can see'. In fact, Kris appears to have a save-file before you overwrite it when you use the point. There's probably save-points in the Light world, but because saving in the Light world isn't really required game-wise (yet), we don't see any of them.

@@invalid_user_handle I think that’s definitely a possibility! But it’s worth noting that it’s uncertain whether the “you” is referring to the player or Kris in that dialogue. Toby recommended only those who play undertale play this, so going towards a twinkling light to save would definitely be second nature for any player coming from undertale. It’s hard to say exactly what the role of save points are yet and why they aren’t present in the light world. I’m super excited to see more of the story and possibly find out why though :o

The thing about chapter one is that not much of it is particularly challenging. The fights, puzzles, and even the story are all pretty simple. That’s why the Jevil fight is so important for players who enjoy a challenge; if you don’t do it, it’s easy to become bored with the game.

I agree its a bit weird he is the only darkner her isn't affected by different fountains and can travel through them without Chris's. He is hiding something for sure, I think that part is obvious. But I do believe he also has an ulterior motive.

My belief is that his loyalty ultimately lies with the story, rather than with any of the people involved in it. He's there to guide the involved characters, and us (the player experiencing that story), through the fulfillment of the prophecy and the isekai adventure laid out by the game. I think he is sincerely well-intentioned, and legitimately cares about his friends, but has the fulfillment of the prophecy as his underlying sense of purpose, to the point where he will hide things, brush off questions/concerns, and prioritize it over peoples actual desires/free will.
