you're basically ollivander's for ballet.. like.. look at the feet and then disappear in a gigantic store full of things that look the same to try and feel which one will fit and either it goes wrong and hurt or it "sparles"

3:30 we have baby ballerinas at our studio, and in last years performance they couldnt focus on the steps so they were just waving to their parents in the audience and picking sequins off the ground 🥹🥹 this year they have a penguin costume for their performance 😭😭😭
@kerriemckinstry-jett86255 ай бұрын
I don't think it really matters much because when 3-year-olds go on stage in adorable costumes, there's always a collective breath & "Aw..." and "So cute!" from the audience. I doubt many parents expect 3-year-olds to do much on stage. 🤣
@NightWink1295 күн бұрын
@kerriemckinstry-jett8625 I must be channeling my inner-Asian-Mom then 😂, because I'd expect my toddler to be doing the choreography, otherwise there'd be no point in having him/her start that early.

I love dance, sadly ended up giving up ballet just before pointe. I’ve never jet glued a shoe. I have however done lots of work with cyanoacrylate glues (like jet glued) in keeping live coral reef tanks. One of the cardinal rules of that sort of glue is ALWAYS have a bottle of 100% acetone (can get from a beauty supply) and paper/wood stick cotton swabs on hand (the plastic sticks will dissolve in acetone). If you use enough of that sort of glue frequently at some point no matter how careful you are you will manage to glue your tools to your work surface or your fingers to each other. If you have acetone at the ready you can get yourself out of that mess. A cotton swab soaked in acetone can be rubbed between the parts (usually fingers) stuck together and slowly work them apart. Also, yes as Josephine says, while the glue will seem dry in about an hour, most formulas take about a day to fully cure and stop being reactive. I’d imagine not only are you likely to have issues with potentially getting stuck in the shoe, but even if you avoid that fate if the glue hasn’t fully cured it isn’t going to be nearly as strong as once it has fully cured.

I was just remembering my first pointe shoe fitting. Both my Mom AND my Daddy came with me, & it was one of the MOST magical moments of my short-lived, but intensely beloved, dance "career." I wanted to be able to dance en pointe more than anything else, from the moment my Mom took me to see my first ballet, "Coppelia," & I had FINALLY arrived! And, as I was thinking about it, tears just sprang to my eyes. I don't know why, but it just made me so emotional. I miss my parents, & I miss dancing, so much!

They do make special shoes for people without toes. My uncle had to have multiple amputations over the years, so he started with no toes and ended up with no leg below the knee. They just end where the foot does. Though some people might find prosthetic toes to be helpful. But yeah, pro tip, if you crush your entire foot but it doesn't hurt, go to the hospital because you have nerve damage and not going to the hospital is a great way to end up with an infection, up to and including gangrene, and they will keep having to cut off more of your leg if the infection doesn't go away. Also the infection can cause organ damage. My uncle ended up in dialysis and had a heart transplant due to that. All because he kept blowing off my aunt "nagging" him to go to the hospital because his crushed foot that had been run over with a car "didn't hurt".

My first ballet class was in an old church. It had really good acoustics and i think my preference for jumps comes from it, because the ceiling was so high. One of the downsides tho, we could not regulate the temperature at all. The windows were beautiful, but couldnt open. We only had one small door at the side, which was not enough to air out the whole room. But it was my first studio and so i will foreever remember and love it. ❤

The studio where I dance is in a 150-year-old church. We have stained glass windows. The church still has a very small congregation, so when we perform, it's in the sanctuary in front of the pipe organ. We've yet to do something with live organ music, but our artistic directors have dreams of that being a thing one day. (ETA: Where I studied as a kid was a converted paper factory.
