My son trained in ballet up to the age of 14. At 7? yrs (6?) he auditioned for the Royal Ballet School, a whole day process. After each stage some children were sent home. He made it through until about 5 pm, at which point their musculature and tendons were closely examined. They explained that the potential for him to develop seriously debilitating damage was unusually high. He continued dancing until he found that he was beginning to feel serious pain when dancing.

Extremely proud of Sławomir and Irena and their two sons doing such a great job. They were great dancers in Poland, Sławomir was the principal dancer in one of the national operas in Poland for a long time and Irena was a first soloist. We had 2 great Polish dancers and choreographers Wacław Niżyński (aka Vaslav Nijinsky) and his sister Bronisława and now Sławomir and Irena as the greatest teachers in USA!

You effectively can't spoil a *baby*. Taking care of his needs will simply makes him learn that you, his parent, is there for him, what ever he needs.
@JustTheTruth-Please2 ай бұрын
100% truth! My "baby boy" is 32 and he spent his baby time in a multi generational home so all his needs were attended to immediately. He was "spoiled" and as a result of the love he got he is full of love for his family now. I was very lucky to have such help and love for my kiddo.
@isabelleblanchet36942 ай бұрын
@@JustTheTruth-Please Mines are 11 to 18 yo and we never let them cry. We carried them all the time (yay for ergonomic baby carrier) as they did not want to be put down. (Turns out 2 are on the autism spectrum and we have suspicion for the other 2). One of those with ASD did not talk before he was 5 yo, he has a language disorder with his autism. If we did not answer his cries as a baby and he learned that crying/requesting help was useless, I can't imagine how much further behind he would have been. He worked hard over the years and is graduating high school with top marks this year, except in French and English which he has average marks, but he still pass both classes and is good enough to be in advanced English. (French is main language here.)

Babies eat brain cells. 😂 Love MBA. They're hilarious. The 20 turns weren't all in 1 day, but it didn't take her long at all. They made a video of them going to the atm so Eva could pay her. 😂 They sometimes do boys do girl ballet moves and girls do boys moves. They're all ridiculously talented. Even the guy who has only been dancing for 2 years. The teachers are amazing. Not just in talent, but in the way they push their students without being mean about it. And omg Victoria is amazing. She's 11 or 12, I'm not certain.

Melanie is a star in the making! She's absolutely phenomenal - one of the best dancers there, if not the best. I love Slawomir and his sons - especially Slawek. They're so funny, and keep the class in stitches. I have a theory that it's because they bring so much humor to the class that they are such good teachers, and naturally have such good students. Every student wants to keep working with them, because they're good teachers, but also because they make the class fun. So they try very hard in that class (I think it kind of puts the lie to the old attitude where the teacher felt like they had to be mean in order to get the students to perform at their maximum capacity). Irina is a bit more stern, but she's just Irina! Even if she's not as funny (though I have seen her be funny sometimes, outside of class), students still want to work with her, because she's such a good teacher. She's not mean though. The students are not afraid of their teachers, and not afraid to express their own sense of humor, either, and many of the students are quite funny too. It makes me wish I was young again, and could move to Arizona and study ballet there. (I studied modern, jazz and improv, and I did start kind of late, certainly too late to become a professional ballerina. My feet are a bit deformed, anyway, which has only gotten worse as I've gotten older.) I remember one video I saw where there was a guest instructor - maybe he was a friend of Slawomir’s, I'm not quite sure - but he had a very strange way of pronouncing French words, like for “plié” he said “plee”, and the students didn't get what he was saying (or any way they acted like they didn't know what he was saying). And then when they didn't respond when he said “plee”, he started yelling “Plee! Plee! Plee!” They were barely suppressing their giggles at his pronunciations, but none of them acted at all as though they expected they might get in trouble for “being disrespectful”. He seems to be a pretty good teacher just the same, and didn't seem to take any offense at their behavior himself. I guess anyone who was a friend of Slawomir’s wouldn't be very likely to get offended anyway!

They select students with specific physical characteristics and train them to do lots of turns, or if they have extreme flexibility they work to increase that. They are very very selective at their school. Being snarky I would say $$$$ is in the water there. It’s an expensive school in an affluent area

There was a ballet dancer at the olympics and it was fun to watch. I think the closes thing I can see outside of ballet is the georgian and circassian dancers, insane dancing. Then there is the break dancers and for martial artists that goes to the capoera martial artists that have those insane flips.
