@@ForceFreeTrainergirl06 what do you think happens to people who do sports like this? I was a figure skater and have dance friends- if you do a sport like this as more than a hobby for years you don't come out of it without some sort of chronic injury. It's just how it works- if you look at retires ballerinas all of them walk with their feet pointing to the sides rather than straight because of all the stress that go on their hips. Even Olympians tell you without the teams of physical therapists and doctors they have doing sports at that intensity takes a permant physical toll on your body. Humans aren't designed for this, taking it seriously is also knowing and accepting the repercussions that come with it.

I just love how you guided this young dancer into taking care of her feet for the future. You gently reassured her with your decision as to why it would be in her best interest to change the toe-pad and box shape of the shoe yet still keeping the rest of the shoe tight. Knowing you, you probably explained also the various styles of each shoe to help this young dancer to improve healthier knuckles and toes. This young 14 year old was actually very articulate as to how she likes her shoes but also the areas that she has issues. She was clearly goal oriented, may she be your life-long patron.

I’m a teacher in Alberta Canada and this will be the second year our studio hasn’t competed because of covid regulations. Our hearts are breaking for our dancers but we’re still trying to give them opportunities where they can mentally escape and create beautiful things. Sending love to all the American students that can still perform this year ❤️

All my love to your students. I went back to college as an adult for nursing and the last semester was interrupted by covid. I was able to cope better as an adult than many of my younger classmates. I felt for them as their dreams were sort of dashed. I danced for many years and looked forward to competitions and studio time so much. I would be heartbroken to not be able to have a big area to express myself and see others do so as well. That in person energy is so lovely. My best wishes to you and the studio 💜💜💜

The one thing that motivates me is trying to catch up (obviously without hurting myself) with the other dancers because I have always been a little behind all my classmates, I got on pointe about 6 months after them, so seeing them all get on pointe made me try even harder so I could get my shoes, then I finally did. :)

I dont know if you touched on this outside of the video but the cramping is from the tight shoe (specifically heel to toe, which is probably beneficial for ballet). Stretching and rolling the bottom of the feet will help, but the fix is the let the foot stretch when flat footed. The cost benefit is it would be looser when on her toes so maybe a more elastic sole?

Love it!! I have a question for you. Have you ever seen someone who's big toes point out straight and up a little bit when they point their feet, almost like a straight, hyper-extended leg? I'm a ballerina and I have this problem where when I point my feet my big toes don't bend and they point up a little bit. I know that sounds super weird but I thought a dancer might not be too weirded-out by it! Due to this problem when I point my feet in my point shoes the top of the box does not point with my foot. Do you possibly have any thoughts on a shoe that could accommodate this? Hearing you talk about snug-fitting shoes reminded me of this because I tried to see if snug-fitting shoes would point with my foot more easily but found that they don't simply because of my toes.
@melsoft1213 жыл бұрын
I would consider speaking to a podiatrist about that. My grandma had that problem and it turned out to actually be because her tendon along the first metatarsal was shortening, and she ended up needing surgery to fix it. This could obviously just be how your foot is built, but if there are other factors it’s better to find out in advance.

awww I've always dreamt of pointe shoes but am not a ballet dancer and it makes me sad because I think I'd do good in them. Since my mother took me to see Giselle I would imitate pointe in normal shoes (Ik, not good for you) and it was always super comfortable to me to stand with my weight on my toes like that and move around and even stand on one foot. But when I joined ballet at 12 I left after a month because I felt embarrassed, I was the oldest in the class that technically was for up to 10 year olds and they were way better than me. I felt so bad about being a complete beginner and being unflexible and just not being able to keep up... it was embarrassing... shame that there was no older kids beginners because I was in an intermediate class and the teacher would barely explain... long story short I'm 18 now and still dreaming of pointe but too embarrassed to ask to do ballet... doesn't help I gave up on ballet and got a new dream of figure skating not long after so now I'm here like : ballet or skating
