You accept things as they are, not as you wish they were in this moment. This is important to understand. You can wish for things in the future to be different, but in this moment you have to accept things as they are.

"Never accept the world as it appears to be. Dare to see it for what it could be." -Overwatch See? It sounds wise when you say the exact opposite too. Honestly what's wrong with both? They aren't mutually exclusive. Sure we need to be realistic and accept reality. Sometimes it's important to also imagine what could be different, and how.

@@libertyprime9307 The problem is that he is not talking about philosophy. What Rinponche is trying to explaing is a literal way of perceiving the imediate sensorial experience. It's not about the meanings you attribute to life.

I'm confused about some things ..is being aware of awareness the same as mindfulness? Also, when meditating, do I have to be aware of my breath and let the thoughts pass? Or do I have to be aware of me being aware of my breath? And lastly, am I one with the breath during meditation? Or is the breath one with the thoughts and I'm just observing both? Edit-Do we reach meditative awareness of thoughts through normal awareness of the breath(if we are using breath as an anchor)??
@atmajazone
@atmajazone 4 жыл бұрын
I read Rinpoche's book joy of living. Based on the book, yes, its the same. With or without object, what we do is we recognize awareness and maintain it. The object like breath is just tools to maintain the recognition. Rinpoche also suggests to not stopping thought and emotion, instead just be aware of it, if we get lost then back to object. I suggest you to try meditation without object. Search and read Rinpoche's first and second article on Lionsroar, thats how to do it. You will get more understanding with it.

You could try searching online for meditation centers close to you and asking if anyone there can help. Even if they themselves cannot, they may be able to point you to someone else who could. You could also look for meditation teachers who work at or near universities, since universities sometimes have religious centers in there for students and teachers to use. Perhaps also people who teach on retreats?

You try little by little to free yourself from thoughts, overtire it will get better. If your mind is to full of things you might calm yourself first before you sit for meditation and lastly if few thoughts cross your mind softly is not that big deal.

Are you concentrating too hard? Meditation is watchfulness meaning gentle awareness and continued remembrance of the sitting, not trying to pick one object and rejecting others for long time. If done this way you can do meditation without side effects. Namaste.
