Rinpoches aura is beautiful! One of the biggest things I've learned for meditation is breath control. Simply focusing on the breath going into my nose will force my body to relax and alter my focus to something positive. Don't stop meditation practice people. Yongey is an enlightened being. Even if not everything makes sense he is helping you in unseen ways. Many thanks to you!

Thank you very much. For me it's always so helpful to see that others have same kind of struggles as I do. Then I don't feel so bad about myself and I realize that all things I encounter are quite normal, and part of the path.

Perfect. For the last five days I have been meditating near the spot where Buddha's foster mother attained Parinirvana. What better place. Imagine it. All the greats sat around where I sat looking on and helping Prajapati Gautami attaining Parinirvana. The spot is lovely and serene on the banks of the Ganges. Wow. The Buddha watched on, Sariputra and Mogallana watched on, Kassapa, Bhaddaji and the other disciples watched on, Visakha and Amrapali watched on, Theri Uppalavana watched on and helped Prajapati Gautami to have her last bath. The five hundred nuns were sitting around meditating. It took time. I was on that spot imagining that scene through my monkey mind as I tried to meditate. Namo Buddhay. Namaste. I hope to one day take you to Maha Prajapati Gautamies Parinirvana stupa so that you can meditate there where the Buddha sat meditating while his foster mother slowly passed away.

I understand what you talking about. The key is awareness. We more awareness when we are not confortable. When we confortable, we are not awareness. So be more awareness with your unconfortable. Like me is itching and tingling in my feet. So i just watch it and not judged it. And then suddenly we to be bored to that itching and tingling in my feets and my mind switch other awareness like my though who want finished the meditation, again i just watch it or to be awareness. I just watch all my uncomfortable again and again when meditation and thats make me not getting bored

I love how you make it all make sense and easy! Everything is normal, every struggle and setback included. You also seem to demistify meditation, in a way. I also very much appreciate your playful ways. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this on the subject before. Thank you, you're really so helpful!❤

I actually thought about something similar while studying today, but didn't listen to myself. I always forced myself to stick to the plan, and plans never worked for me in my studies. So today I thought maybe I should change the lesson when I get bored, instead of continuing the same lesson when I can't read even one other word of it (so it's just killing time and no outcome). Your technique is also the same, you say that repetitive things get boring for us (as humans), so instead of wanting to stick to the plan, just listen to your inner self who wants new things once in a while. And of course I'll try this amazing guide in my meditations as well as my studies. ❤❤❤🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Please allow me to comment. I love your videos and regularly listen to you. I do research on Buddhism in Bihar where the Buddha operated. My dream is to one day to take you around to the different stupas and villages in the Buddhist story I have identified. I'd love to show you the place where Prajapati Gautami attained Parinirvana, where the five hundred nuns died simultaneously with her, Prajapati Gautami's nunnery and her cremation ground. I would like you to meet the descendants of Amrapali, of Jivak, of Ashoka. Thanks to Xuan Zang I found Ashoka's first Buddha relic stupa, and his own relic stupa with his first sangaram. I would like to take you on a tour to all these places and meet the descendants of the Buddhist character you love so much. This is my dream. I hope one day it comes true. The Buddha will help me. he will draw you in.

By brain disorder do you mean depression and stuff like that? I cured my depression by just meditating more and when unpleasant sensations arose just resting my awareness on them. For six days for several hours a day I had intense unpleasant/painful sensations around my eyes and forehead. On the sixth day I began to see that that dark, dense block of unpleasant sensation was made of many many negative thoughts about myself, feelings of rejection and hurt, and feelings of regret for not having been able to be a better person. As soon as I saw that all those bad feelings just melted away and I felt immense relief. 50 years of depression just evaporated. If you want I'll tell you more about how I did it. Keep in mind I was meditating hours a day, it took me over a year to develop the ability to do that.

In Buddhism, we say that meditation alone can give you calm, serenity, an easier time dealing with the struggles of life. But, we believe the real difference comes when one practices good behavior (particularly what are known as the 5 Precepts, but also just being a kind person makes a difference) along with not only breathing meditation, but also something called “insight meditation” or Vipassana. Not everyone will agree with this advice but from my tradition this is what we believe. Either way, best of luck to your practice. Much metta & Karuna ❤️

I experienced that too. It changed for me when I decided to do a 10 day silent intensive Vipassana retreat. It was very hard, but at the end I could see real results. I developed a daily practice and did another retreat a year later. That was over 20 years ago and now I have completed dozens of retreats. Meditation has changed my life and how I see the world. It’s not easy and it isn’t quick, but it has worked for me. Best wishes and keep trying.

The essence of meditation is the observation Observation of your body, your sensations, your consciousness and mental factors. Feelings of any kind are just mental factors to be observed. In time, with years, we night notice how bad feelings, while still coming and going, do not effect our lives so much, we are kind of dinstant from them, observing them, observing what happens within US. We have a kind of wiseness.

Look up his video on "pizza meditation." It's about what to do when you are trying not to think of something, and that effort backfires. Let the mantras come, neither push them away nor attach to them. Over time things will clear up.

About the pizza example - We want change of the food because we want the permanence of pleasure. I would not say it is deeper About wanting to control something - We indeed want the permanence of a pleasure by trying to control what is not controllable. The rule is to let go of all of it.

I live in Sweden. I tried meditation when I was in my 20's a few times, but it was White Woman Meditation... Which is where they put on "Rustling leaves and bird noises volume 3" on the CD player and tell you to breathe and imagine a garden. Now, I have ADHD and aphantasia. Even if I COULD imagine a garden, I'm sure my ADHD brain would quickly walk out of it if nothing was really going on in there. 😅 I think your philosophy and foundation for meditating is a bit more inclusive honestly. No hate to my fellow white women, or the bird noises, but that brand of meditation is not for everyone lol.
