The lore reason behind quillboar always hanging around those thorns is because the Boar Ancient, Agamaggan, the biggest and one of the oldest Wild Gods, was covered in huge thorny brambles. He fought the Burning Legion in the War of the Ancients, finally falling in battle near present day Durotar. The quillboar originated from his life force and they believe those massive thorns to have grown from where the mighty Ancient's blood was spilled.

The "twitch" that the raptors do is a Jurassic Park reference. The Velociraptors in the movie do this and in the kitchen scene their talons clicking on the floor are used to create tension. In WoW, you can't hear that, but the Devs probably thought people would remember the scene and provide their own thrills, through their memories :)

Those familiars were little bastards before the revamp. They had a large agro range, very close spawn points in the cave and those fireballs hurt a lot. It was almost a guarantee that you would die if you tried to solo the totally unskippable cave quests.

I believe the Quilboar cultivate the spiky plants/craul because they live in and around them, use them for protection, etc. They also see it as a manifestation or inheritance after their dead Wildgod, Agamaggan, who died during the War of the Ancients, and spawned the craul as well as the quilboar race. I like the Kul Tiras Marine. (lvl 6-7) it has a charge attack that does 500% normal damage so it opens for 40% of your health. If you aggro 2 of them, you can't even run away from full health.

Those Thorns are the blood of a wild god named Agamaggan, Who died during the War of the ancients. When he died, his blood was spilled across Kalimdor, and from his blood, those thorns started growing. And there ya go, a little lore lesson

In Camp Narache (the tauren starting zone) you are tasked to kill a few of the thorncallers which is likely where all the thorns came from

The thorns grow where Agamaggan's blood dropped in the War of the Ancients! Agamaggan was slain in the land currently known as the Barrens, near the Field of Giants. The Quilboar believe that wherever Agamaggan’s blood fell, the land grew the thick thorn vines that characterized him. The blood spilled also created red gems called Blood Shards.

The shaman quilboar bring the thorn seeds with them in order to grow the Thorns wherever they go. The Thorns of course strangle the land and turn it into a more desolate and habitable environment for the quilboar. It's in one of these Quest texts for the tauren starting zone

1. i said pointless not useless 2. yes you are in desolace and lets say wow has currently 10million active accounts which is a fairly low estimate. of those 10 million lets say there are 5million ppl who level alts regularly and although that might be a bit high i still go with it because alot of ppl check out the new leveling currently. of those 5 millions lets say there is are 2 million ppl leveling right now and id say from those 2 million ppl leveling right now there are around 1 million ppl at a level where they could go to desolace to level. from those 1 million ppl there are maybe 100 ppl in desolace and that is a huge estimate while 999,900 are not in silithus... id say thats pretty pointless :D

*spoilers* The legion invades through a portal in the Tomb of Sargeras. After we shut down the portal we follow Kil'jaeden through his portal onto his ship above Argus. We kill him and the ship begins crashing. To escape Illidan opens a massive portal to Azeroth using the Sargerite keystone. When we get back to Azeroth turns out the portal is two-way, which was intentional on Illidan's part. We then all invade Argus using Velen's ship.
