Many years ago I met C.C. and the band at Shades in London, and C.C. asked me for a copy of a live photograph I had of him. I sent it to him and a few months later I came home from work to find he had sent me a handwritten letter to thank me for it. I was and still am blown away he took the time to do that, something I'll never forget, what a star..

All I know is, there was a time when Poison reigned supreme on FM radio and MTV, and it was an absolutely magical time! Open Up And Say Ahh was the first album I ever bought, and it sparked in me a love affair with hard rock and heavy metal that's still as strong as ever! I also credit C.C. with rekindling my interest in playing guitar after putting it down for about 4 years, so that's a nice bonus! Poison absolutely was part of the soundtrack of my youth, and for that reason, will always have a special place in my heart, mind and soul. God bless C.C., Bret, Rikki and Bobby, and may they continue to tour and make great music for years to come!

Open Up And Say Ahh was an album I got for Christmas and I Iearned how to play every single song on guitar on the album I got that album on cassette tape and a walkman for Christmas in 1990 but in January of 1991 I had to have open heart surgery and I took that cassette tape and my walkman with me to the hospital and I was in this little "surgery consult room " and here came the nurse with the IV bag and needle so when she got to the room I was in I told my mom "hey mom hand me that walkman" she did and I hit play and Nothing But A Good Time started playing I was rocking out and I was just a kid but Poison made me not scared of IV needles anymore. And I pulled the headphones off and asked the nurse ARE YOU EVER GONNA STICK ME WITH THAT IV NEEDLE? She said I just did lets go to surgery The nurse told my mom "WE'LL TAKE REAL GOOD CARE OF HIM WHILE HE'S IN THE OPERATING ROOM WITH US" I said "ok let's go so we can get this done" That nurse told my mom "WE'RE GONNA HAVE HIM WITH US FOR ABOUT 6 HOURS HE'S GONNA BE JUST FINE" Let me just say it like it is OPEN HEART SURGERY FOR AN 8 YEAR OLD BOY SUCKS Yeah you read it right 8 years old and having open heart surgery .

I was so blown away by their Live performance I saw them a couple of handful of times Live ever since then. I know a lot of people say they are a girly band and suck blah blah blah but I say Hell No !! They are GREAT !! CC rips on Guitar. Rikki's Drum Solos kick ass !! Every time I saw them they Opened with Look What The Cat Dragged In and that happens to be my Favorite Song by them. But at the same time they have so many good songs to Jam to it's ridiculous. Hey, This message is for CC in particular, in response to this video and some of the things he said. First i would like to say, " cry tough" from 1986 is still one of my favorite songs, and i listen to it atleast 2 times a month. ( i have alot of favorite songs ) : p so i am a "fan' of the band.. BUT! I want to say in response to what you said about " being lucky"?? NO! You guys were not lucky! You all had a " LOOK", while its true every band in those day had a similar look, there were some unique differences among " that same look" and you guys had a unique look of your own. Infact, the chemistry, the look, the sound, Bretts voice ( not the best, but unique and cool ) You had your own unique style. And you were signed because you guys worked hard passing out those flyers all along the strip, and because alot of people in the area were into your look, sound, and style? YOU GOT A RECORD DEAL! ( keep in mind everyone, the record companies at that time were signing left and right because "hair bands and hair rock, as it was called were SELLING! records were selling, posters were selling, concerts were selling, cassettes were selling, and the "look" was selling.. IT was a very lucrative situation. So "poison" was a popular band at that time, on the sunset strip circuit, and they got a deal! It really had nothing to do with luck.. As for all the people that didnt make it? they didnt have "that something" that the ones that did make it had. For whatever reasons. There were also alot of "posers" putting bands together too! And maybe alot of the bands that didnt "make it" were giving off a phony vibe? I think its safer to say, poison was MEANT TO BE! Just like VAN HALEN was meant to be! Its had to be! ( not comparing with you cc with eddie, but you know what i mean ) I will say as a fellow guitarist myself, you had a cool sound, and you are a character! a unique person, and it showed and your light was shining! And that is a good thing.. NO ONE IS THE BEST GUITARIST! There are so many greats, and so many other people that are really good.. Its a personal thing. If someone is able to touch someone with their sound or style or phrasing? then that is great, and thats it.. the people who are born to do it? make it.. The ones that arent do not. Playing any instrument is an individual and personal experience. You cant try to sound or play like other people, because you really cant sound exactly like someone else anyway, and you shouldnt.. ITs your voice and your feelings, being expressed through your instrument. ( im speaking to everyone ) And you had your own voice on guitar CC, and it was cool! Im sure you inspired and influenced many kids to play guitar! same with rikki on drums. He had cool sound and style. When you think of 80s hair music? POISON will also be somewhere in the top 15 bands of that time period! ( I WAS THERE TOO ) IM STILL THERE IN FACT! AND I DONT WANT TO LEAVE! IN MY LIFETIME, SO FAR? THE 80s WERE THE BEST! AND I THINK, THE MOST EXCITING AND CREATIVE, TIME FOR MUSIC AND BANDS! THROUGHOUT ALL OF HISTORY! ( AND ALOT OF OTHER THINGS TOO !!! ) : / Check out a song by Eddie Money called: " i wanna go back" .. Congratulations on changing your lifestyle to a healthy lifestyle CC.. I hope you talk with JESUS and keep in touch with him everyday! Just as i do too! He is my best friend.. And he saved me from myself too! that is what he does, and why we all need him! He forgives us for our sins, ( ONLY if we are sorry and want forgiveness? ) And he saves us from ourselves! heals us, gives ups peace, joy, insight, perspective, guidance, direction, and so much more! ( lets not forget the best gift he offers us who want forgiveness and help to reconnect with God our father, SALVATION! ETERNAL LIFE! All the best for you, your family, and the other guys in the band.. And thank you all for the great music and the good times and memories! And one more thing! ITS NOT OVER, TIL ITS OVER! : ) Poison should be working on a new album! Call it: Poison " its not over, til its over"

C.C. Has been through a lot over the years and he admits he had such a bad addiction and was in such a bad place in his life to me that’s the first step to sobriety is admitting you have a problem and want to do something about it I love the fact they are all together again despite everything they have been through they were and are like a family they all started this young they love each other and at times hate each other but the most important lesson is that they have learned from each other it’s like being married to 3 other people and to still be able to do what you love and to have an audience especially with how horrible the music scene /industry bring how it is today I’m so proud of all of them over coming all the negative stuff to be able to still be here today to perform
