Is a monthly plan required? It was to my understanding that you could also use these cameras with just the thumb drive storage and that no plan was needed to use these cameras. I just got a set for Christmas and if a monthly plan is required. I’m going to send them back.

I have the siding clips for all my blink cameras, never had one come off, I'm hoping this one will hold, camera is kind off heavy, but, that might actully help keeping it in place.

Curious to see how it holds up on windy days, but yea if you strike a good balance between the weight anchoring it and not putting too much downward pressure on the clips, it can probably hold up well. Would be interested to hear your thoughts after you have it setup for a while.

Sometimes 3rd party options pop up later that aren't officially supported, but if you are still on the hunt, it may be worth looking into some other camera brand offerings like from Reolink, which has hard wired options for 24/7 recording too.

Best to use lithium batteries. Other batteries will probably drain way too quickly.

They weren't rechargeable from what I remember. Hard to say how long it would last because it depends on how often the lights are triggered from motion and the brightness setting.

I've had my blink system for 3 or 4 years. I'm confused on the USB stick you put in the module. I never had to do that. What is it for? I'm looking at adding the floodlight camera to my system.

The Sync Module 2 and USB stick is only needed if you don't have Blink's monthly paid plan usually. However, for some cameras, the Sync Module 2 actually helps offload some work from the camera. The USB stick is used to record videos, but if you have the monthly plan, it will be saved in the cloud and the USB stick isn't needed, unless you want a local backup too.

Yea that's a good assessment. Ring has higher-end offerings, but I still prefer to recommend security camera brands other than Blink and Ring because they both require monthly fees to get full functionality, whereas other brands give you all that functionality and even more sometimes without any monthly fees.

I bought it 2 years ago, and the only time that I see the beams on with just a flash is when I change batteries, they never work by motion or manually with my phone, I have been using the camera only, lights never turn on.

Is your Blink app fully updated to the newest version? Also, ensure that you install the latest firmware updates in the app for the camera and floodlight mount. When you installed yours, did you follow all the steps in the exact order like in my video? I think the order you install each device matters a lot with the Blink system.

Hmm that is strange. When you first put in the batteries and set it up, did it light up? Or can you manually turn on the light to ensure that the batteries are good? If the batteries are good, you can try to turn the camera off or inactivate it, then activate it back to see if that helps. If it doesn't help, I'd reach out to Blink support to see what else they recommend because sometimes a last resort is removing the camera from the Blink system and adding it back. Also, be sure that your settings exactly match mine in the Blink app under Floodlight Settings. If you go under Video and Photo settings, do you see any option for color or light aided night vision that you can enable?

Some of the Blink cameras still require the Sync Module 2 even with a cloud plan. The Sync Module 2 can also add additional functionality (with or without a USB drive attached to it). For example the Blink video doorbell lets you use it without the Sync Module 2 if you just have the cloud plan, but you won't be able to pull up live view at will or at your leisure, you can only see live view when someone rings the doorbell. However, if you have the cloud plan with the Sync Module 2, you can both pull up live view at will and record live view. If you just have the Sync Module 2 and no cloud plan, you can pull up live view at will, but it won't record live view. If you have the cloud plan and a USB drive attached to the Sync Module 2, it will record to both cloud and the USB drive, but if you can get away with just the monthly plan and have full functionality for your specific Blink camera, that's best.

Yes, it definitely does. If the batteries are good, I recommend that they watch my full video and follow it exactly as outlined to ensure they set everything up in the correct order. They may have to delete all the cameras and the Sync Module 2 and start over, but if they follow the steps in my video it will work. They can also check to ensure that the camera is Armed and not set to Disarmed.

Hey @georgelieux150, most likely Blink has updated the app so you have the newest version of it, but the steps and setup process should remain largely unchanged once you go through the setup process in the Blink App by tapping the option to add a new device.

Just installed this yesterday and while the camera is working fine, the motion detection is not triggering the floodlights. When I removed the alkaline battery covers and put the back on the lights did come on briefly; so there is nothing wrong with the lights per se. The motion sensing menu is enabled in the App. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Doesn't seem to have any official way to hard wire it, especially while maintaining a good seal to keep it weather-resistant. Even with a solar panel attached, depending on the brightness output, it may not last the night. I'd look into a brand that you can run wiring to even though it's not as convenient, but then at least you can max out the brightness and have things like 24/7 recordings.

Yep it does. The floodlight is actually decent, but the actual Outdoor 4 camera is stuck in the 2000s with 1080P video quality.
