I had a puppy that ate poison. Our vet recommended the exact same way to treat it. Thank goodness I had all the meds. Puppy lived a wonderful life for 19 years.

When I was in middle school, we had adopted a sweet dog from a friend. He was a bit of an outside dog with her, so we let him go outside a lot. One of our neighbors fed him a rat poison laced treat....we didn't know anything was wrong until in the middle of the night I heard him throwing up over n over again...turned the lights on to clean it up and the living room floor was covered in blood n he was just laying in the middle of it struggling to survive. My dad scooped him up n rushed him to the hospital but in the end, we had to put him down that night to end his suffering. He had hemorrhages all throughout his body n there was no saving him.

Im glad this dog could be saved. A few years ago two of my beloved dogs had been poisoned. I don’t how or why. My first one was already dead when we had woken up and the second one was in the process of dying. (This was when my parents were separated and my mum had my siblings and the dogs) she had rushed him to the vet but he couldn’t be saved. The first one was Odie, a pure black lab and the second was Tyson, a ridgeback cross red heeler. I also had one of my cats at the time, Simba, shot by a BB gun. My sis probably saved her dog's life after it ate a whole box of black chocolate ( like 70 % cocoa). It was the beginning of the pandemic, the only emergency vet open was two hours away, all the drugstores were closed ( it was like 9 pm) and she went on Facebook to ask for help to get some hydrogene peroxyde (which the emergency vet had recommended) A complete stranger answered her. She was living 7 minutes away. That lady was awesome. The dog vomited so much black chocolate, it was everywhere Thanks to that nice woman, the dog is alive today, in great shape, and even had a litter last year.

Years ago, a friend had a dog that was half yellow lab mixed with Great Dane and Wolf. He was enormous. The wolf showed in his facial structure ( big scary teeth) but he was the friendliest goofball, he just didn't realize he was too big to be a lap dog. He spent much of his time in the backyard that was fully fenced in. One day, a neighbor threw meat over the fence that had been laced with rat poison. It took him days to die. He didn't go without suffering either. All because someone couldn't see how friendly he was, only how scary he was. 20 years later and I still miss him, even though he would most likely have passed from natural causes by now anyway. He wasn't even my dog but I still think about him all the time. You were loved Max.

Tbh I don't get why rat poison isn't banned yet. Same with glue traps. Yes rodent problems are real/annoying but an unfortunate amount of lives are unintentionally to stuff like this (more than 100 pets die every year, over 10,000 kids are endangered, and anything that preys on mice/rats are harmed as well). Super sad stuff. Just glad the pooch in this video got to the vet soon enough

My cat ate rat poison, it was just under a year ago, he’s an outdoor-indoor cat, he ate rat poison, we managed to treat him (thanks to my uncle) and he lived for another year, then he ate rat poison again, we didn’t have enough money to treat him.. he died in my arms that night

In 5th grade my dog named Teddy bear had cancer on his jaw So we had to put him down. The only thing we could've done is to cut off his jaw and replace it. But then he wouldn't be able to eat. It was devastating and I cried on the way to the vet, and the way back. But I'm glad this owner was able to save her Dog.

I have a similar story but it wasn’t rat poison my dog ingested it was a whole bag of gummy bears after she vomited and was dehydrated for the whole night along with drinking a lot of water but the next morning she was right as rain unfortunately I suspect her eating those gummy bears led to a rapid onset of diabetes which we didn’t have a clue about until it was too late and unfortunately she passed away only about a week ago so moral of the story no matter what your dog eats if it’s a lot of it take them to the vet after even if they seem fine the next few days it could just save their life.😕

unfortunately you're not going to get a response from chris on this. he doesn't actually manage this channel, and even if he did theres a lot of comments to get lost in ): I would recommend maybe asking your local vet, or other people online in the field? I know from people ive talked to that theres certainly a lot of pros and cons. I wanted to be a vet when I was younger, but decided later on it wasnt right for me. vets go through a lot of heartache; there are pets you cant save, or pets you can save but cant because the owners dont have the money. its definitely a stressful path. but theres also a lot of fulfillment in helping animals feel better when you can. you have to make sure you arent sensitive to blood, needles, or gross injuries or anything like that though, since theres a lot of that in the field. definitely a lot to think about.
