Good advice. I have three books and use all three to identify what I intend to eat. Always keep an uncooked specimen for 3 days after you ingest them. The ones in your allotment look like Chicken of the Woods. And yes, Death Cap is cruel, because you think you are getting better just before the toxin kills your kidneys and liver!

Great video! One point though: Angel wings are edible and very good... not poisonous. Common names can be confusing so do your own research to be sure of what you are eating, but the Pleurocybella porrigens (the one shown in the video) is edible and very good.

I suppose it depends on the mushroom. But handsanatizer kills bacteria/viruses it dosent wash off chemicals/poison. So washing your hands is probably better. Or better still dont touch👍

Nothing should happen, u actually have to eat the flesh to get significant amounts of toxin into your system. Theres a vid of a guy chewing on a destroying angel and spitting it out, nothing happens to him

Calling the angel wing one of the most deadly mushrooms is a bit of a stretch for me. Though it indeed has lead to deaths, all of these cases were in Japan, all of the patients had pre existig liver/kidney conditions and all of the patients were rather old (around 70). Some people in Europe have eaten the mushroom for years or still eat them without damage. Now i dont say it's harmless but mushrooms like cortinarius orellanus or some inocybe/clitocybe are definitely more toxic

I really disagree with this, there are plenty of edible mushrooms in the UK which have no poisonous lookalikes; boletes for example are often delicious and there are simple rules you can follow to avoid all of the toxic ones. The one in your video looks like chicken of the woods which is totally unique in flavour and unlike anything you can buy. It's also a very simple mushroom to identify. There are some other great mushrooms like the giant puffball and trouping funnel which are also delicious and easy to identify based on size alone. It's true that you shouldn't eat anything without being 100% sure of the ID, but I think it's wrong to put people off like this when there are some really safe mushrooms to get started with as a novice.

Well, it can be a bit irritating to be honest how people in the UK are so panicky about foraging in general. I've seen an English guy afraid to pick a plum off a plum tree because it didn't come in a plastic box with a vest before date. I grew up picking mushrooms since I was little and it's not magic, just common sense and not being too cocky. Basically, I don't pick anything that remotely resembles anything poisonous.

Yes, Bolettes are excellent as a beginners mushroom because the few harmful look-alikes make you sick rather than outright kill you. Totally true. Bolettes are also fairly universal. I pick them here in Australia.
