Team Plasma was definitely an anomaly in the Pokémon world. Taken in by the ideals of a young but earnest king, and led by an intelligent, charismatic leader, they were united by their dream of freeing Pokémon from the cruel and inept. However, the supposed nobility of their goal was tainted by their actions. By stealing Pokémon from all trainers they defeated (using their own Pokémon, but really, what else could they have done), any good they may have accomplished was made inconsequential by the misery they left in their wake. Everything came to a head at the end of Black/White, when the King's Ideals were defeated by the other hero's Truth (or vice versa). Sage Ghetsis, revealing his scheme of regional(?) domination, was also defeated. So the dream was shattered, and with N gone and the Sages in hiding, it seemed that Plasma was dead, though its impact would affect Unova for years to come. And then, it returned. Ghetsis, now allied with the scientist Colress, created a new Plasma, one that refused to play with the hearts of the people. Instead, it would gain power (for that was its true goal, after all) through force, and fear. The members that joined because they wished to help Pokémon, perturbed by the reveal of the lie, left the group, trying to help Pokémon their own way, and later actively trying to halt the efforts of Neo-Plasma, which seemed to revel in its power over others, treating Pokémon in general callously, with no regards to their wants and needs. Their second end was permanent, their leadership apprehended or in hiding, their members arrested, and plans thwarted, again. The differences between the first and the revived Team Plasma was always fun to point out. A friend of mine puts in a way that just seems perfect to me: First Plasma, "Hi, we're PokéPETA." NeoPlasma, "F*** it, we're terrorists now."

Not quite, close but not quite, I've done a lot of looking into this and the basic deal was the ghetsis was always running the show he just used as a figure head using his love for Pokémon as a front in order to try and convince people to give up there Pokémon in order to make conquering unova easier, when the player eventually brings the plan crashing down there's a schism in the ranks of team plasma with a small minority who acutely fallowed N and wanted to help Pokémon and the vast majority knowing of the true intent of ghetsis who went on to try again only to be beaten, again

Saphiria TheBlueDragonKnight Nice analogy. With still a great difference. Here, Ghetsis doesn't succeeds completely in taking control of Unova thanks principally to the efforts of the main character. He was pretty close, yes, but he was at last stopped....for a while... Meanwhile, Sidious literally corrupted Anakin Skywalker, turning him into probably one (If not the most) of the deadliest biological war machines of story, manipulating an entire galaxy and dominating it for almost 20 years.

There are times when Pokémon wish to battle of their own volition. A time where the only way to understand someone is to battle them. Pokémon battles aren't just for competition nor for sport. They're ways of making bonds, making connections. A way to learn things we didn't know. And at least when we battle we don't massacre or kill them. Yes. The true meaning of Pokemon battling. There are a lot of reasons. Forming bonds, training your Pokemon and making them stronger so they can protect you. You take care of them and in turn they will take care of you. Which is why us trainers take initiatives to prevent them from severe harm.

When it comes to the state of the competitive meta-game I have to side with Team Plazma. The way everyone goes about it is just plain wrong and cruel. Players simply breed or get people to breed them the perfect pokemon, there's no love in that though. Those pokemon are literally tools for war. How come we suddenly treat pokemon in the exact same way that we were fighting AGAINST in previous gens, why? Just why?

yes, but Ghetsis didn't intend that to be his goal... Only N sided with that view... Ghetsis used that to make people release their pokemon, so he would be all powerful...

Galactic Nova Yeah I know what you mean. Ghetsis was a total evil maniac but N's ideas are really what made me challenge Meta Game Trainer's approaches to 'Making' perfect Pokemon. I mean don't get me wrong I am a Pokemon Breeder myself but I breed Pokemon with love and time and with the intention of them being my partners, yes they'll have brilliant IV's but I consider them my friends and not tools for war.

Craft Gaming - Drayna and ice yeah, but it depends... if you have completed the game fully, you need something else to do, so you breed them as tools... When its part of a mission or when its fun and exciting, I use love and care... So it depends..

Galactic Nova Nah I use love and care even in competitive. I don't breed tools I breed partners for life... and the Pokemon that I don't want I wonder trade them away, to help other breeders.
