To give you an idea about Karen: I replayed Pokemon Crystal (Virtual Console) I had only Ursaring left against her Gengar. She also had Murkrow in the back. I figure Ursaring can handle both and then I'll heal my team afterwards. What does she do? Her cheeky little self has Gengar use Destiny Bond (I didn't know it had it). And I lost to her cause of that.

@@honeyham6788 Lugia only used Calm Mind four times, so it would be a 3x Aeroplast (4.5x counting STAB), not a 6x. As for Lugia's set, it seems that it has those moves because it's the exact set that he used in the Battle Between Legendary Pokemon Tournament (assuming it also has Psyshock).

I can agree that Umbreon is huge in Competitive and also being the best eeveelution to pick. But not for the current Generation where it's kinda hard to have a good Umbreon-Moveset... Sadly :/

Hey, Silph! I would love to see some exhibition matches between notable trainers from kanto and Johto once the official tournament is over. I think Silver vs Giovanni and Clair vs Lance particularly would be awesome to finally see! Also, I know I'm getting ahead of myself here but how would you feel about having the Hoenn True Power Tournament be in a doubles format? Double battles were introduced in gen 3, and it would be a nice change of pace. Anyway, love every single one of these battles, thank you so much for making it possible!

Whoa! Four uploads in four days! Way to go, Silph! This tournament is having no delays! Anyway, before watching, this is a tough match to predict. Lugia is a huge threat, but Falkner doesn't have Multiscale on it, and he ran into perhaps the single best anti-Lugia trainer in the tournament. Falkner had better have Roost or Recover on it, otherwise Karen won't have too much trouble beating it down. As we saw with Sabrina's Mewtwo, even an Uber Pokemon can underperform if you don't have the right set for it. If I was Falkner, I'd hold it in reserve until the biggest threats to it (especially Mega-Houndoom) are eliminated, then work on walling Karen's remaining Pokemon. If it can heal up after the first Knock Off, Falkner will be in a good position. Falkner's Staraptor is probably an even larger threat than Lugia, as it almost certainly has Close Combat. A key move for Falkner winning would be predicting the switch into Gengar and hitting it with a huge Brave Bird attack. This battle could also be decided by speed, as there are so many fast Pokemon on both sides. Will Staraptor get the jump on Weavile or Mega-Houndoom with a Choice Scarf? Will Gengar turn out to have Thunderbolt, and mow through Falkner's Pokemon? If I'd seen either of these two best teams battle before and saw the sets, I could probably figure out which one was gonna win ... but without that information, all I can say is that both the chosen sets and predictions are going to factor heavily in deciding the winner. Edit: Yup, it was prediction. If Karen had switched in Gengar or Falkner had triple-predicted Umbreon, he would have taken it. That was really the deciding moment, as Umbreon was the uncontested MVP of this match. Stalling three Pokemon into the ground, including one of the biggest walls of Ubers! What a match!

@8balln8 killingu65 While I agree that Bugsy would smash Karen (er, I mean, he'd beat her in a battle), I don't think they'll meet up in this tournament. Bugsy would have to beat Jasmine and then either Pryce or Clair (almost certainly Pryce), while Karen would have to beat either Silver or Morty (almost certainly Silver). Even in the loser's bracket, Bugsy is most likely going to run into Clair, who has a lot of Flying types and probably some Fire coverage.

Bugsy vs. Karen is looking a little more likely now, but after looking at both teams a little more, I don't think Bugsy would win that one, anymore. He could, but Mega-Houndoom would be a big problem for him, as it can withstand at least one Drill Run from Mega-B.
