@@stacked-racing Wait no, my venusaur took down most of Lorelei's pokémon except Jynx. Yes it's a double edged sword but venusaur can easily outspeed her pokémon and take then down except jynx. Besides, her dewgong has the ability thick fat- which cuts damage from fire type moves so charizard is a bad choice here. Venusaur may not do much against Erika and Koga, but don't get rid of tackle or teach it return and it can easily take them down. Venusaur has the advantage of being part poison, so it doesn't get poisoned. The only "real" threats are Sabrina, Blaine and Lance. Venusaur stands an equal chance against the rival since his team is well-balanced anyway.

At the end of the day......Pokemon has some great music. Every new game and generation has at least a few pieces of music that are just outstanding. But there's something about this one.....It may be the nostalgia. Something that just says "a test of skill and grit", something I just can't find in a lot of other gym leader/elite 4 themes. In my opinion, FireRed and LeafGreen are THE definitive Kanto experience and the best way to experience the region. They don't have all the headaches and technical issues that the Gen 1 games have, and they're not a cakewalk like Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee, not to mention those games are technically remakes of Yellow, not Red and Blue. These games are an actual challenge, plus they have a lot of extra content like the Sevi Islands.

Pro Tip: Believe it or not, Pokemon has Easy, Normal and Hard mode. Bulbasaur (Easy): Beats first 2 Gyms with ease, resistant to 3 and 4 and when you reach 5 you've hopefully already caught a good team. Squirtle (Normal): Strong against 1, resistant to 2, weak against 3 but there's a Diglett Cave nearby, at 4 you'll start to struggle. Rest isn't that hard. Charmander (Hard): First 2 Gyms are a pain in the ass, 3 is normal, 4 and 5 are easy, but the last gym might cause problems if you don't have a water type...

Pokemon Yellow doesn't even give you a choice in the beginning, your best bet is to catch a Caterpie in the Forest and raise it to a Butterfree so it learns Confusion, helps you get past Brock a lot easier. After that, it eases up, particularly since you have a chance to get all 3 starter pokemon.

They inserted an upbeat and happy sounding bridge and continues to a more upbeat version of the chorus (complete with its thick Gen 4 baseline). Which tbh I really like. SO I'm not saying the HGSS version is bad, it just feels different. FRLG sounds more serious and intense while HGSS version sounds more fun. I think this is due to the fact that u fight Kanto gym as a fun extra challenge in HGSS but in FR/LG these gyms are basically your main career as a trainer.

To be honest, this is by far the most strongest Gym Leader track in the entire series. It clearly beats Hoenn's track, as it's BPM is nowhere near this. D/P/PL's track I would say is second, Johto's would be third, and Hoenn last. The remaster of the Kanto theme in HG/SS really made me have chills.

0:28 gives me flashbacks to watching my Pokémon's HP slowly tick down from a hella strong attack, or the enemy use a healing item when I'm on my last leg, or my last Pokémon stay fast asleep...but then right after that dip was when Charizard pulled through with 10 health or Vaporeon hit back harder or Raichu woke up just in time :)
