Haven't played this version but Renegade Platinum is not a difficulty romhack or a difficult romhack. I remember one surprise battle that gave me trouble, but other than that it was entirely manageable using the same team of 6 pokemon I liked throughout the whole game. Drayano's romhacks have never been about being difficult, they're just not made for 5-year-olds like the base games. It's a very gentle tweak. Radical Red is a difficult romhack, Renegade Platinum is not.

I was about to say it. Yeah this game is really cool, some of the changes force you to do the side quests that you couldn’t miss on a regular play, but yeah the battles are unbalanced. It would’ve been great to have the possibility to choose difficulties so that you can appreciate the update without trying multiple times to win badges…

These remakes genuinely hurt my soul. Gen 4 was my jumping on point to Pokemon and Pearl was the first game I ever beat. And I was so excited to see them on the switch and then I immediately wished I hadn’t spent the money when I realized how awful they were.

It’s cause other than graphics, a fairy typing, an xp all, and other modern stuff, the game is actually almost identical to diamond and pearl. Personally, I think while it’s bad at being a remake, it works as an excellent remaster.

There are pretty similar to the original ones. The undergrounds have been expanded allowing you to catch wild Pokémon that you couldn’t have in the original before getting the National Dex. But no trainers in the game benefit from it. Candice, Volkner and Flint still have Pokemons that don’t match their type… there is no Battle Frontier, the TM are disposable again…

Only some, not all. Version 3.0 (called Reilluminated Platinum) will have up to Gen 8 at release, and then later Gen 9

For now, only the original 493, plus the Lampent and Tinkatuff lines, are in the game. But, if they have any Alolan, Galarian, or Hisuian forms, then you can get those as well in addition to any future evolutions up to Gen 8 that they may have. A few examples of this are Sneasler, Wyrdeer, Obstagoon, Mr. Rime, Alolan Marowak, Hisuian Arcanine, Kleevor, and even Sirfetch'd. As far as I know, Palean forms and Gen 9 evolutions are not in the game.

You can tell they regret remaking Johto and Hoenn leading to fans begging for remakes of each generation. I can imagine Masuda getting migranes rubbing his temples hearing nothing but SINNOH REMAKE WHEN. They were NOT in the mood to give Sinnoh the same treatment after all the fan resentment that got really bad by gen 8. So they just outsourced it to some other developer who knows little about the series and were just told to slap something together. GF never forgave us for how badly burned they got by the SW/SH and Dexit backlash and has more or less abandoned the adult fans ever since.
