Just a heads up, Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow did in fact have cardboard trays in some print runs. One of the difficult things about these games is that between prints, some aspects changed. Coloration, inserts, tray or no tray, etc. For yellow I know the ESRB rating was totally missing on its first print run! then later had the pixelated "E", then finally the solid "E" that we see today. Crazy to be a pokemon collector when you gotta know all this stuff. haha Great video and thanks for covering these games! I can't believe the prices, honesty. Glad I got mine pre-2020. :D

The manuals for the double flap releases will also have a "U/" prefix or "-2" appended to the text in the top right corner. The boxes with the Y cardboard fold at the bottom (I think that's what they call it) are the earlier releases but there's at least 2 variants for each r/b/y/crystal box (double flap and y fold). There can be a white or black E rating for r/b/y and also a no E rating variant for yellow. Hope this helps and keep up the great work!

It was one of the best decisions I ever made because at the start of 2021, the prices doubled, then tripled like crazy. After 2 years of game hunting and collecting (Boxed games in both English and Japanese versions), I finally got all mainline games and spinoffs. All of them have also been quadruple-checked for authenticity. So I can’t thank you enough. That was my last chance to get every Pokemon game that I wanted before the price hike madness started. The prices are cheap for 3ds right now. Many people still have their first copies still and they're not that old. In addition, not all the people that grew up with 3ds games have a disposable income. Also online people seem to practically advertise the ds, gba, and gb/gbc games. Finally, not many people are nostalgic about the 3ds games. But you do make a good point. Right now is probably the best time to get into 3ds collecting. I bet in 5 years or so the prices are going to rise dramatically.

So great to finally see the Pokemon series covered. You have a good looking set there for sure. I am missing a few inserts from my gen 1 games due to being a bit careless when I was younger, but the big three are still in great shape. Your copies of Ruby and Sapphire should have come with an eReader card each. Lady Astrid for Sapphire, Gentlemen Nils for Ruby. Platinum comes with the Rotom insert as stated in the comments already. Everything else seemed complete as far as regular retail goes. But you are correct with there being variations to all of the games. Currently, the Japanese versions are also increasing in price. The Japanese versions of RBYG come with a physical "Pocket Monsters Town Map" which is a neat addition. The JP Black and White games also come with a cardboard slip cover over the regular DS cases. So far, the most expensive Pokemon game, I think, is the big boxed version of Pokemon Box Ruby and Sapphire. $2000 CAN even opened. Was a great $50 investment at the time. Can't wait for the silver play button video. Keep up the great work!

Thank you SO much for uploading this video, I'm thrilled! On my birthday in 2015, my uncle gifted me his copies of Pokemon Black, White, SoulSilver, and HeartGold. All have boxes, most or every piece of paperwork included, and HeartGold is the special box-package with a functional Pokewalker. I had NO CLUE my collection was worth hundreds (I have other games too)! I was pretty young back then, but nothing's heavily damaged. This is awesome, thanks again.

Welp, the prices are even MORE expensive now than they were back in 2020. Recently I just got Pokemon Platinum (legit cartridge only), and the price for just the cartridge was $110 dollars. The entire DS cartridge and box brand new was priced at $350 dollars. DAMN! 😳

@@WantBadtime I say settle with just the cartridge whenever you can and make sure it is a legit Platinum cartridge and not a fake cart. Given that retro Pokemon game prices are only gonna get worse from here (especially with how much Scarlet/Violet has rialed up the Pokemon fanbase with its mega unpolished state, making fans desire even more the older games), you definitely should get some of these Pokemon game carts sooner rather than later because later on prices will get worse, much worse.
@WantBadtime2 жыл бұрын
@@generalcjg yep, found that in the hard way when I bought a repro Pokémon Diamond cartridge for $35. I was able to return it and get Pokemon Blue for the same price. Battery is still good.
@generalcjg2 жыл бұрын
@@WantBadtime Diamond and Pearl are solid, but because they run at 20 frames per second and have slow speed in general, the best version to get is Platinum (which is the rarer version to get of course) as that one runs at a good 30fps and fixed all issues with Diamond and Pearl.

Well if you manage your money well enough to have some disposable income, you can start collecting. Just have a plan and start slowly, such as if you wanted to collect all the Pokemon games, you'd focus on just that. Start with the cheaper games to get a feel for what to expect and move on up to pricier titles. Just be weary of fakes!

you forgot about the pokemon game that was only released in Japan: Pokemon Green
@vensakarakorwien57684 жыл бұрын
Ok, lets start correcting mistakes: 1. all gameboy color Pokemon game have actually 2 version of boxes. If the box has simple closing on both side, it has just a small piece of carton glued inside, that does hold the game. If it however has they Y style of closing on the bottom (flaps from 2 sides will overlap to create a double Y pattern - Y ending on each side), then it does have special carton insert that you can take out. 2. Carton insert's and gameboy manuals are not game specific, so you can get them from any game. Ads are partially game specific and some are more common (for example Nintendo club ad) and some are more specific (like ads for different games from the same franchize are only within that franchise). 3. Pokemon Emerald, Fire Red and Leaf Green do have the version that includes hardware (GBA Wireless adaptor for GBA). 4. No buying that in box will not guarantee that they are not fake. You can get easy reproductions of all Manuals, inserts and even outer boxes. So maybe you will buy a genuine game with reproduction carton. 5. Manuals for the first 3 games (Red, Blue and Yellow), are almost identical. The only difference is on the second page, where it is written for which game is that manual for. As a result many ebay listings with those are misleading and and of course reproductions. 6. Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green do have a poster included (mistakenly identified as insert in this video). That poster is only for those 2 games but it is identical. 7. All GBA cartrages are heavily faked, so you need to be very careful there. 8. Pokemon Platinum is the most wanted because that is the easiest version to use when you want to transfer your pokemons to the later generation. 9. Pokemon Pearl, Diamond and Plantinum have again heavy faked amount of cartages even to to point that artwork and manual are reproductions as well. 10. The most faked cartidges and also manuals or arworks are Heartgold and Soulsilver. 11. The most expensive version is SoulSilver or HeartGold walmart edition with a small figurine included - more expensive than Pokemon Crystal. 12. Pokewalker actually has a spare back part with a clip and not just simly "top half" or "bottom half" 13. Pokemon Platinum was the last "third" Pokemon game. And they were not that many of them (4 in total). 14. Pokemon UltraSun / UltraMoon double pack with Steelbook is the most expensive for this generation for NA region 15. Speaking of steelbooks, if you check other regions, you will find several steelbooks.
