Excellent video! Seeing this kinda content with data driven analysis is so refreshing. No speculation, just talking about how the times are. One huge factor you touched on is the general media seems to not be harping on Pokémon as much as celebrities haven’t made as much of a say about Pokémon as of recent, but I wonder does the hobby need that same spark or did the embers from the last time allow for a rekindling this time around? Only time will tell!

I think we're just seeing the usual Q4 uptick. The interest in Pokemon has risen during the end of each year for the last couple of years.

Other factors: 1) Streaming breaks & pack rips increasing in popularity. 2) Ease of access to grading via gamestop. 3) Straight to auction grading. 4) Economy is terrible, for whatever reason when economy gets bad crypto and cards go up. Accessibility & use cases for pokemon cards has made massive leaps this year.

There was definitely a limitation on ordering the PC prismatic etbs. I opened the email as soon as I got it and ordered within minutes and the limit was 4.

I had no limit at first, then it became 4 and then 2

@@PKMN2GOMOM show me an order, a single order, with more than 4. for CZ, 151, PF, SF, etc., etc., it's always been a case limit per order. But you could do multiple orders, to get more than 4

It's a mixture of both. If fans didn't fomo scalpers would make no money.

@ItsFinigan there's also been (from what I can tell) a huge increase in overall general demand, mostly due to 151. While scalpers and investors have increased that demand there's a reason even Japan is struggling with an increased costing price (there's a reason in the UK you can't get Terastal festival for less than £50, for context, normal Japanese booster boxes are £40 with 30 packs and Terastal is £50 with 10 packs.)

Ehh the caveat is a lot of people don’t like the chandelier crowns and you know prismatic is going to be filled with Tera chase cards based on the set name and preview cards. If it wasn’t based on the tera gimmick it would easily overtake ES but the crowns sort of throw a wrench in the wheel. Personally I won’t be stoked on it at all unless there’s a decent amount of IRs and SIRs that aren’t teraform. So we’ll have to wait and see.

there was never NO LIMIT on PC etbs. Always, always been a limit of 4 per order for preorder, a case. And you could initial put in multiple orders under the same account 4x4 or 4x3, however orders you put in. They then went from 4 to 2, and stopped accounts from being able to do multiple orders. needed a new address and etc.

Considering we are in a a recession of sorts, I would say comparing it to the Covid bubble isn’t an apples to apples comparison. I think more people are moving into the hobby and demand is just higher. Not to say there won’t be a “correction”, but I wouldn’t call it a bubble. These sets coming out just have a lot of attention, stellar crown booster boxes are still available for about $100, so it’s more that certain/future sets have a lot of hype as opposed to an over all market bubble.

I've always wondered if streaming breaks and pack rips actually help increase the value of booster boxes due to scarcity. Like it further promotes scalping behavior and the only way its going to be fixed is if the economy goes into a recession.

@@creativity.studio4967 same will happen with pokemon eventually imo. Maybe not in our lifetime but eventually kids will not be as hyped on it as we were when it first came out. Baseball cards were very popular at one point in time but I feel like it’s a dying hobby idk I could be completely wrong but that’s how I see it.

Countries like china and usa will print money like crazy during the upcoming years. China allready startet, usa will folliw suit. This will probably exceed what we saw during covid. This is just the beginning.

I genuinely hope that it is a bubble, but I sincerely doubt that it is. One side of things to look at is: The whole sword and shield era bar Evolving Skies was flat for a long time, and now the booster boxes are steadily climbing. I’m not an investor bro, but it’s fun to speculate on sealed product. It’s not my future career, and I prefer it to be an accessible hobby for everyone - even those who don’t have a lot of disposable income, but you can’t always have your cake and eat it too.

You’re right man. And what i have learned is that pokemon and crypto go hand in hand. Same trends, same pattern. What we will see coming months in new cards that will go up so much in price. But wil crash extremely hard. Lets say a $100 card will go to $250+ but wil crash back to 130/140. Making higher lows and from there correlate. Remember. Move by your collection plan. Not by your emotion and sudden price spikes.
