The fact that there STILL hasn't been another Pokémon Pinball game, and that there wasn't one for the DS or 3DS, which were perfect for the genre, is a damn CRIME. I loved this game and still play it from time to time. I was never super excited by pinball games in general because they're always just about getting a high score, but the addition of catching and evolving Pokémon was the _perfect_ motivation to continue playing.

Ill never forget the day the ball got stuck in the space between groudon and the top of the table. I screamed when it went to the catch animation

I’d love to see a Smash Bros stage based on this game with the table being randomly selected before each match and special Pokémon appear only as hatching eggs and attack similarly to the Pokéball summons. The main obstacle of the stage is the Pokéball is bouncing around the stage like a pinball and the flippers will throw fighters into the air for a couple of free hits. A game of pinball is being played during the match.

One cool thing not mentioned in this video is that is is possible to catch groudon, kyogre, and even rayquaza!

I remember Gen 3 being much more popular than Gen 2 where I live. Back in 2002 all the cards & merch in shops were Gen 1, CN was just showing Gen 1 Episodes in those days. Gen 3 was treated as the 2nd Wave of Pokemon with how it was promoted. I remember this game & catching both Rayquaza & Jirachi in it. To get Rayquaza you need to win 10 Bonus Fields. Ruby Field is Kecleon > See Groudon > Kecleon > Catch Groudon > See Rayquaza then the pattern repeats with you catching Rayquaza during the rematch. Sapphire Field is the same only Dusclops instead of Kecleon, & Kyogre instead of Groudon.

These Pokemon Pinball titles still have that old-school mystery about them. They are not as popular as the mainline games, so guides about completing them are somewhat unreliable. It's really difficult to differentiate false information from facts, some guides straight up lie about where to get certain pokemon. I have completed pokedex in both games, but I'm still missing the four extra pokemon in R&S that are not counted in the pokedex: Chikorita, Totodile, Cyndaquil and Aerodactyl. Some guides say they are obtainable, just really rare, or that you'll first need to complete the pokedex before they appear. Some say you'll need e-Reader cards for them. And some say you'll have a chance to encounter them after you have connected with someone who has them. It's kind of the same deal as with Mew in the first Pinball game, but that was actually possible to register in the dex. Even though the process of getting it sounded a lot like old wives' tale or a legend...

I have the sneaking suspicion that the design team for this game thought that Chinchou was a Gen 3 Pokemon which would explain why it's here. Still, it's cool that one of my favorite Gen 2 Pokemon is featured in this game. Never played this one but I love the OG Pokemon pinball so I would love this one as well. Very easy to pick up and put down. Also I cannot wait for the Pokemon Channel retrospective. 😁
@Paraspectre2 жыл бұрын

Played this game recently, and had an absolute blast completing the Pokédex. There are so many little secrets and surprises to keep you engaged, and even after losing a good run, it's tempting to start a new one since at least you might find new Pokémon you don't have yet. Loved the challenge of it, too, turns out you can get really good and consistent with some practice. Rayquaza in particular was especially thrilling to try and catch, since it essentially requires you going on an hour long play session without getting a game over, which is no small feat; you definitely feel the pressure! Instantly became one of my absolute favorite GBA games.

I remember this as the only Pokémon game my mom ever played, and liked. She was a quake player, so it’s not like she was a non-gamer. But she doesn’t like RPG’s at all, never mind one aimed at children. Probably helped it was easy to pick up and put down again. EDIT: Figured I should also mention she ALMOST completed the pokedex. She played it a lot.

I really fell in love with this game last year. The first game had kind of questionable physics in it, at least looking back at it, but this one felt solid and while I don't like chasing high scores normally, gaining a new Pokemon or two was a fantastic motivation to not get discouraged at a bad game and getting back into it. It's a really great pick up and play experience!

I actually like this one quite a bit despite not really being a pinball guy. The action poses for the pokemon were always great to me since they are unique to this game. Something that irked me even back then though, is how the locations in the game are rather generically named, instead of being actual places in the games. The first game was better with this and, even if it sounds like a nitpick, kid me actually felt like the first Pokemon Pinball was more of a journey because of it. I know, it's a weird hangup. I still haven't completed my pokedex in Pinball RS, but I do still have the save file. I can only really play it via Gameboy Player though, which means I don't pick it up as often anymore - it was very much a travel game for me.
