One of the few DS games I could play over and over again. This was the first Pokémon game on my channel and the first Pokémon Ranger game I ever played. I've played Shadows of Almia (my favorite) and Guardian Signs as well, but this one was definitely the hardest. Enjoy!

Story: (Also known as "Pokemon Ranger: The Road to Diamond and Pearl")
With the help of Pokemon, set out on a fun-filled adventure! You play as a Pokemon Ranger in the Fiore Region, where you work to preserve nature and protect Pokemon. Circle Pokemon using the Capture Styler with Nintendo DS stylus control. Use each Pokemon's special abilities to clear obstacles and to help capture other Pokemon. Capture and interact with more than 200 of your favorite Pokemon. Work your way up the Pokémon Ranger ranks by succeeding at official missions throughout the Fiore region. Pokemon Ranger is unlike any Pokemon game you've played before. You control your character using the stylus, and all Pokemon are captured using a Capture Styler instead of a Poke Ball. Since you're a Pokemon Ranger and not a trainer, you must release each captured Pokemon back into the wild after they help you.

I agree, I remember getting the first game for my birthday in like 2007 with my DS, then the second or third one I got for Hanukkah but I remember the experience of each one. The first is definitely the most nostalgic but they all had totally different vibes and atmospheres, amazing music and story I really couldn’t love it more I’m considering finding them on eBay or something

Just played through this game again myself for probably the first time since it was released. I was a bit worried about being spoiled by the subsequent ranger games, but I had a surprisingly good time with it, and I think it holds up fairly well. Surprised I don't ever hear people talk about this game's soundtrack, there are some pretty nice tracks in there. And yeah, like another comment said, for me this really sparks some memories that were tucked away in the corners of my mind, it was pretty surreal actually. Appreciate the longplay upload as well, especially since, for as much as I like this game, it definitely has its headache moments. It's nice to be able to experience some parts of the game without actually having to suffer through it yourself, haha.

I played this as a kid and totally forgot about the pokemon assisting you with capturing, that or I was REALLY bad at trying to capture Entei, I remember failing that fight LOTS

Because it's really hard. Steelix, Entei, Charizard and the final fight at the end (Entei again) are the hardest battles in the Ranger franchise in my opinion.

What emulator did you use? Or did you just plug a DS straight into your PC and use a capture card?

I own an original copy. However, I used the Desmume emulator to capture the gameplay. After the 4th mission, I found it impossible to continue the game with just the mouse, so I used my drawing tablet as a smooth stylus alternative.

2:19:48 - 2:29:20 THESE FRICKERS. OHHHHH MAH GAWD THESE FRICKERS. These three have turned into *THAT ONE LEVEL* for me. The Muks? Oh, easy, they're not much of a problem to deal with. *Usually.* The REAL problem is that DAMN GRIMER. His gunk trail lingers WAY too long, and when you combine that with how the Grimer and Muks are almost always gravitating towards each other... ...how the hell did they expect a little kid to get past this when it's taking adults multiple tries and at least 10 MINUTES to get past it?!

From what I recall you need to wait until their attacks sync up and fire inward towards a point, then capture all of them at once. The Grimer can be dealt with by using Assists which slow it down or stun it - combo this with a Fighting Assist to cut the amount of loops needed for capture in half.

I played this game once because the Pokemon came out a movie the prince of sea introducing the ranger. That time I was playing pokemon black and white on phone using emulator almost finish the story line so try to find other pokemon games that didn't tried before. Found this game and I tried,then MY FINGER IS HURT AND HOT DRAWING THE CIRCLE, during the temple challenges. And I gave up,thank you for let me knowing the whole story line,still guessing thought should I install emulator again and give another tryout.😂

Running the game in the emulator with the mouse is not so easy, damn raikou entei and suicune they gave me some problems but I captured them :D

Charmander at the beginning is big! And Slowpoke thin... Venonat seems very hard to catch XD Staryu is quite big too... Grimer's sudden splash^^ Strange that Tangela lives in the underground. But nice hopping

Playing through the game now on mobile because of the recent delta emulator and had to check out gameplay to see if there some trick to make captures easier. The fast drawing of circles is killing me 😂. Im in go rock base now about to fight one of the leaders again🙄

Is it just me, or does the game remind me much of g1 Beyblade with Tyson Granger? The graphics, walk animation for the player, and story kind of feel like Bakuten Shoot. And I can't be the only one that thinks the styler disc doesn't look like a Beyblade, right? Then again, i only played Shadows of Almia and Guardian Signs, so maybe im just not used to the older look

The Poliwhirl's attack is strong :o I have not seen a standing Slaking before :o The Voltorbs are quite...explosive XD The Aquamole mission is kinda boring. We've been part of the Golden Era of videogaming, that includes free online shooters or MMORPGs, Nintendo DS/Wii and all the classic consoles of the early 2000s.
