Those battles are the best imo, a solid back and forth where it’s has to go for the long run rather than the one hitter quitters I always make sure my Pokémon are no more than level higher when facing the opponent

Never played Ruby but my Sapphire team from way back in the day was Swampert Launatone Swellow Tropius Pelipper & Kyogre My Emerald team was a little stronger, I had Blaziken Dodrio Ludicolo Aggron Tentecruel and I don't remember the last one but I think it was either Walrein or Flygon Good memories, I absolutely love gen 3, still my favorite to this day

I don't even remember how many times I took for beating Steven, it was a freaking hell! And I wasn't that strong, ruby was my first game so I didn't exactly know how to play. My team wasn't really good (it sucked) I had: -Blaziken -Linoone -Mightyena (I don't know if I wrote it correctly ) -Swellow -Camperl -Raichu But then I replayed the game and I caught better pokemon

That is actually the kind of battle that is enjoyable, not the kind where the over leveled mons OHKO or THKO the foe instead the classic face off between almost same leveled mons and both sides struggling to take out each other and each mon giving their best to fulfill their role and eventually lead to victory, that's the kind of battle that not just me I believe but 90% of the audience in mixeli's videos enjoy.

Just replayed the game last weekend and today I clinched a win against Steven with 2 hp on my lvl 52 swampert against his metagross. Probably the most hype I’ve ever felt playing pokemon in a very long time.

Hardest champion next to Cynthia bar none. Metagross is one of the best pokemon especially at this time as a Pseudo Legendary. Amazing competitive Pokemon. Claydol’s bulk is incredible allowing to set up for Dual Screens making the fight even harder. Skarmory as a lead with Toxic and Spikes…I think it has whirlwind too. Steve is a competitive champion at that point. High 50’s on top of it. Cynthia, Steven and Blue are the hardest champions in that order.

That flygon did at least half the work for that entire battle. It's honestly one of the best pokemon in the game (RSE) since been way surpassed as a dragon/ground type by garchomp. However, in gen 8, flygon got dragon dance! Garchomp does not! Lol!

The Champion team tends to be a lot more flexible except for Wallace and Iris i think, Steven was not the exception, its just that he took a liking on Steel AND rock type pokemons. If something the Big question here is why Claydol?
