A little tangential, but you know how Pokémon like Rhyperior and Dragapult fire smaller Pokémon like ammunition? I would like a Mega Pokémon design that fires Sharpedo like an actual Torpedo. Clawitzer with Mega Launcher would be an ideal candidate for this. Probably won't happen, but I can dream

A new big, submarine-esque Pokemon that fires Sharpedo as its signature move (probably would be a Water-type variant of Dragon Darts) would be rad as hell. In lore, it could offer them shelter with its size, and in return it supercharges them and fires them at prey that would otherwise easily out-speed it.

I wish Ledian would get a semi-powerful signature Bug-type punching move that is based off of its Sp. Def so it could still be unviable but in a funner way. Or at least it could serve as a niche Special tank to throw out against powerful specially-focused Psychic and Dark-types.

True, like I personally think that by making fairy type moves super effective against fighting types just nerfed the psychic type for no reason, I mean it just makes logic sense to run moonblast over psychic 9 times out of 10 in an scenario when a given pokemon can learn both now. Fairy also shouldn't resist bug either, that was just unnecessary. But if I had to ad a type, I'd probably make "type x" good against at least fairy and steel types, but probably fire types and maybe even ghost types since those seem to be the four best types right now from what I've seen. I'd also make "type x" weak to bug, ice, and grass types since those types tend to be the least used in my experience.

Maybe against Steel, I don't think much will change defensively with Steel if Dragon was super effective against it. And if it does, just make Ghost or Dark not effective against it like back in Gen 2 - 5.

@@MrRuePine Dragon type Pokemon are strong, but Dragon type moves are weak because they barely have any types they are strong against. This is why in competitive you don’t see a lot Dragon type Pokemon have Dragon type moves in their arsenal. I’d say wind moves are the most intriguing battle mechanic added to Scarlet & Violet, because I used to associate the Flying type with having wind controlling properties going based off certain Pokémon like Tornadus. Granted not all Flying type moves such as Drill Peck or Dual Wingbeat don’t fit that description, but I think it’s an interesting concept for certain moves to be considered wind based. Although, my only issue I have with wind moves is that they feel so underutilized in Scarlet & Violet. I say this because there’s not a lot of wind moves to begin with, and no held item or ability to boost their various effects.

There are a few qualifiers for what a new type could be that I like to consider when thinking about it. 1. Be thematically different from other types, even if only slightly. 2. Be mechanically unique, with weaknesses and resistances that set it apart from other types in some way. 3. It should ideally be something able to cover a wide array of unique designs. 4. It should be able to be applied to similar concepts that aren't worth their own type by themselves but don't fit into any others. 5. I’m against Sound type because the majority of Normal special moves and support moves are related and in the sound subcategory of attack. Think Boomburst, Hyper Voice, Echoed Voice, Perish Song, Sing, Uproar, Growl, Heal Bell, Noble Roar, Relic Song, Roar, Screech, Sonic Boom, Snore, Supersonic, Confide, Round… Looks like all of the good Special Normal moves would be swiped away from Normal to accommodate Sound. The support move do not mind the change and honestly would be better so it could hit Ghost. But again, stealing from Normal support options. Boomburst, Swellow is in shambles for losing its niche. Hyper Voice would not be a STAB option for Pixilate, Refrigerate, Aerialate, users because its not a normal move anymore. RIP to Refrigerate Aurorus, Pixilate M. Altaria, Pixilate Sylveon, etc. Pokémon that needs Special Normal Stab that don’t revolve around sound like Hisuian Zoroark, Arboliva, Farigiraf, Indeedee, Wyrdeer, Oranguru…what are they supposed to attack with then? Razor Wind (not widely distributed and two turn bad move)? Wring Out (dexited move), Terrain Pulse (not widely distributed), Hyper Beam(the recharge), Tri Attack (wouldn’t make sense to distribute, it the case for the Lake Trio, the three gems but all have more that one head…and then Terapagos.) Creating new special moves for normal without the use of sound…seems pretty difficult. It’s not worth the heavy maintenance and it should just be a subcategory rather that a type. It’s a nerf to the Normals and a buff to this new Sound Type.

I don’t think we need any new Types, personally. Fairy had the path paved for itself due to the Fairy Egg Group, pre-existing ‘Mons that fit the Type, and noticeable kinks in the Type chart (Poison and Steel being useless offensively, Dragon and Fighting having too much offensive force). Sound becoming a Type would screw over a bunch of ‘Mons that rely on Moves like Bug Buzz and Boomburst for reliable STAB, and it would make the Moves arguably less interesting thematically. Just as light is represented through multiple Types (Psychic, Fairy, and Electric), Sound can be represented through multiple Types as well (Fire, Bug, Normal).

the difference between sound and the other types you mentioned (bite, punch, etc.) is that sound is an actual property that has real world interactions with the other types. sound travels easily through water, but not so much through ground. and a lot of sound type moves are normal type, so it's not like anything would change by adding a new type. if anything, it could also bring new dual type moves similar to flying press.

Doesn’t really make sense to compare sound to punching and biting. I think most people recognize there’s more than just a mechanics aspect to making a type, it’s also conceptual. And conceptually, sound makes more sense as a type than biting or punching as it is an actual attribute by which you can identify a Pokémon. Almost any Pokémon with hands can punch so arguing that punch has just a much validity as a typing as sound seems like purposeful ignorance more than anything else. There’s a reason people will look to sound before something like biting, because it’s a concept that fits as a typing. This isn’t even an argument for sound type more than it is just an argument that the concept of sound isn’t comparable to the other “types” mentioned and most people inherently know this, hence why it’s popular and the others aren’t.

@@majesticgothitelle1802 something like magma and light don’t have any particular existence in the game functionally like sound does. They’re also too conceptually similar to previous typings.
