I think a lot of people missed this easter egg, but his team is meant to mirror gamefreak Morimoto's who is also a postgame fight from gen 5. The original team also had zebstrika, but instead of having the elemental monkeys that mirror the starters, he just has them here. His last 2 mons are also a play on that fight, since instead of having a dark and flying/psychic (liepard,swoobat), he has a psychic and flying/dark.

100%. I had to use 17 different Pokemon throughout my playthrough of SV to The Indigo Disk just to make sure that all of my mons weren't level 100. I started playing right before Indigo Disk came out and knew Game Freak wouldn't balance the leveling right so I got a shit ton of Pokemon switching from the PC throughout the game to make sure there was challenge

Hate to be a downer but this is far from anything what competitive is like aside from doubles format (VGC at least), people EV their mons and dont have 0 IVs, and they use some ok items from time to time. As seen in this video, literally one setup move with priority steamrolls everything. Unfortunate but at least they tried.

Erm, it actually makes me wonder if BB staff actually battle much, if at all. Unlike Naranja/Uva academy, the only BB academy staff we see battling is only Cyrano, and if his team of pure Unovan mons is any indication, he probably hasn't battled much compared to his students and thus never updated his team by expanding his options. Compare this with the students, who gather mons fron across the world to better themselves.

If we speak lorewise power, the battle of strongest trainer is set between USUM protagonist and SV protagonist. Terapagos and Ultra Necrozma have abilities that even Arceus as a Pokémon doesn't; for content, Arceus as a Pokémon and Arceus as a God are two different entities. Arceus as a Pokémon is kinda like a guardian of an INDIVIDUAL universe/reality, but the USUM legendaries as well as Terapagos have multiversal, beyond space-time abilities that Arceus as a Pokémon doesn't (and Arceus as a God is not a catchable Pokémon) This isn't theory btw, it's confirmed by PLA logic and some anime scenarios as well as SM and USUM plots.
