@@viviorko My main issue is the performance. It's way too bad. Too laggy. It really does destroy my immersion. I'm a gamer that prefers fps over graphics, but in this case we have none of the two. Sword and Shield had better graphics in battle, the colors, the animation. I enjoy Violet for its content (terrastalization and pokemon battles in general), I don't enjoy the visuals and the performance. That's my only main big issue. I do have minor issues as well but they are minor indeed.

you have to use the transfer save system before you get rid of the old switch. The saves are tied to your system not the sd card. Only games are saved on the sd card.

Not only are the graphics almost as bad as the PS2 but the worst part was that all the 3D pokemon models were reused from sun and moon and x and y. I played Violet a year late, when the dlc was already out. So my experience with Scarlet and Violet were amazing cause the bugs and glitches were improved by the time I got the product. I did not get the glitches people were talking about. I got to enjoy the amazing story of Paldea, Arven as well as the dlc. I think timing is key. For me Scarlet Violet are the second best, first being Legends Arceus

The new pokemon had pretty good designs, especially Corviknight and Urshifu. VGC matches were more like a chess game and less like an unstoppable hotspot for power creep. Sword is actually the only main series game I have played, besides Let’s Go Pikachu, so I have a soft spot for it.

Here’s my issue with DLC. Sure they add some content to the end of the game. But with the DLC era we don’t get any fine tunes or updates to the main stories and world like third versions being. So the half baked game we get the first time no longer gets proper finish. You just get more half backed added in. I admit it’s a poor cash grab in the first place to sell incomplete games and then sell the same game more complete: but this way we don’t even get that complete game at all anymore

The really ridiculous thing about the DLC change is that if you buy both versions of a Gen, you have to buy the DLC twice if you want it on both versions. I know most people don't buy both versions but I actually did for Scarlet and Violet after enjoying it so much that it came as a massive surprise that they're considered entirely separate games when buying DLC.

Sales don’t really matter though, look at any reviews for sword/shield or scarlet/violet. They average like a 4 or 5 out of 10. @@mafw5572 I've never played Platinum, but I finished B Diamond and I found the gyms/routes a big of a slog... Mostly because I kept seeing the same Pokemon in the wild throughout the journey. I heard Platinum made a lot of changes and I think they would have worked well in this game. I've give the studio the benefit of the doubt and say they did alright on their first project with Pokemon Co (and I heard they will continue to work alongside them in the future)

Lowkey I like the scarlet/ violet games but I got the game a few hours after release and it was HORRIBLE first of all there was a glitch where you fell out of the map and if you forgot to save you’re SCREWED. Second there was another glitch where you could get stuck while riding koraidon/miraidon and you would have to reset your game and again if you forgot to save YOU’RE SCREWED

Well, it's been bad since the 3ds. Pokémon peaked in the DS era and it's been a downward spiral ever since, but since the jump to the switch and to proper console we were expecting something special and it's embarassing, lucky the gameplay still makes it entertaining althought stupid one off gimmicks are worsening it (Exception being Legends, but who would've thought not being afraid to inovate would yieald this result)

I only recently got the switch, I don't care for any other Nintendo exclusives besides pokemon and I never heard good things about the games but damn... I finished Pokemon Sword and it was actually the first game where I went out of my way to finish the pokedex, I played damn near 200 hours just the base game and I loved it. Ended up playing it way more than any 3DS pokemon game actually... I am now playing Shield and still having a blast. I don't know what it is but I just love the games lmao.

I honestly don't get the complaining on Pokemon Swsh graphics that much, yes it lacks in comparison with other Switch games, but not that much, they feel like Wii, Wii U graphics which is not nearly as bad as fans say. The national dex thing is kinda annoying but it makes sense why they did it, plus it is still really fun to catch all Pokemon there are in the game, the story could've used a bit more time in development but overall the games are not the worst.

THe problem is not that I hate SV, but I got a save file coirrupt, I pass throught the map, the perfromance is atrocious. They could have fixed most of this with a patch, but they didn't. @@gamesnig Gen 4 is one of the best gens. You can be wrong if you want. There's a reason it is one of the most loved generations of Pokemon despite its flaws. And the remakes fixed all of the issues the original had. You had more fire types (grand underground had a bunch more to choose from), the battle animations weren't slow, the game ran really well, better than Scarlet and Violet, they are really pretty games. They did change a lot. The original didn't have the underground the way it is in bdsp. The original didn't have Ray tracing and beautiful graphics. The original didn't have the exp share or fairy types. The original didn't have fast battle animations. The original wasn't 3D. Like I said, people still love ORAS and all they added to that was mega evolution and primal forms. Big whoop. It was for the most part a faithful remake. Fans are just upset for no reason that a game that was marketed as a faithful remake came out and was exactly what it claimed to be. They wanted them to add megas or dynamax or this or that that wouldn't make it faithful to the original. They wanted them to add the platinum features into the diamond and pearl games, which also wouldn't be a faithful remake.

Take Friend Areas for example, they are meant to improve the worldbuilding, helping make the place more real and you could visit them in their locations, but in the remake its just a boring menu, its not that different than a regular PC box from a mainline pokémon game.

I think the current Pokemon switch games suffer from an identity crisis, the switch is both a hand held console and a console for tv so they struggle with the graphics and its intensity. As for the art style they wanted to more than likely stay with a familiar style which is cartoonish and is the most safest option for the switch , it could be refined to look more appeasing to the players. As for the games themselves I’m more for the traditional play for Pokémon , I did play Arceus I liked the concept of it. I’m more curious if they will separate hand held and tv console on their next device release

I think this argument falls flat the second you consider that Fortnite, Genshin Impact and many more all are cross platform with the exact same design challenges regarding hardware capability. Genshin Impact looks incredible on both console and on mobile, it plays pretty smooth too if you have a decent phone. Genshin not only runs better, but also looks far better than Nintendo games too imo. I could be wrong on this, but my assumption is it comes from Genshin using more basic 3D models to create the entire landscape. While Nintendo uses the landscape mesh and tooling. If you take a 3D model of a cube, you only need about 8 vertices. Stretch it out a bit and add a few more vertices now you have something that looks like a rock. In theory you could make an entire world in under 1000 vertices, which is insane because a 3D for one single character could have more than that if it were detailed. So I think Genshin does well at making big beautiful words because all the cliffs, mountains, and general landscape is mostly made up of very simple low poly shapes. Keeping the greater levels of detail for things like the characters that cost 300$ lol.

@@Firat08 I’ve played Pokémon before but never actually played it played it like that if that makes sense… I only started playing the whole game like 7 years ago when I decided to try fire red {mind you I played a little of it when I was a kid but never the whole thing} so I did the second time and actually found it to be a fun game… but after that never touched another Pokémon game until Brilliant Diamond… Gen 1 - Gen 4 was the era I grew up on and I’ve always said if I were to play another Pokémon game it’s going to be a gen 4 remake so when I heard brilliant diamond is coming out I was hooked especially since I only just got my switch earlier that year… and imo the chibi style of the game is how I picture Pokémon anyways so it didn’t bother me… I was hooked because it felt like a classic Pokémon game with up to date graphics

Saying that "you're not missing out on much" if you do not play Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is doing the game a bit of a disservice. Most of the Mystery Dungeon fanbase has known for years that it is more of a divisive game when it comes to gameplay, but that does not mean that the game isn't really good. A lot of players agree that the mystery dungeon games has some of the best stories in the franchise, especially Explorers of Sky. The story of the Mystery Dungeon games is only really rivalled by Black and White when it comes to the pokemon franchise, except you typically build even stronger attachments in Mystery Dungeon. Take this as a big recommendation (to people in general), please try one of the games (I recommend starting with Rescue Team or Explorers) and then decide if it is for you or not. If you are one of those few people that already loves dungeon crawlers, then you will have a hard time finding a better game series than this. I know people are allowed their own opinion to the games, but please don't spread misinformation that you're not really missing out on much by not playing this kind of game (this statement kind of needs to let people know that it's based on opinion, there are tens of thousands, probably hundreds of thousands of players who would disagree), it is already well known within it's fanbase that some individuals are indifferent to the game and some rank it above even the mainline games. Mainline Pokémon should have stayed in 2D, or 2and1/2D. It would be better to tweak existing features to change up the gameplay instead of introducing lame gimmicks. Random Pokémon encounters in tall grass, caves, and while surfing were better than seeing them loafing around doing nothing. Pokémon stats, abilities and move pools should be balanced better so that all fully evolved Pokémon are balanced better and we don’t have situations like Delibird being almost useless against a Dragonite at the same level even though delibird has a type advantage. They’ll never be able to fully balance that many Pokémon. But having some evolutionary lines being way better than others regardless of typing is lame. Pokémon is a type of game that benefits from being linear instead of open world because your literally not capable of competing against later game opponents when your just starting out. It’s not like in BOTW or Elder Scrolls where you can make up for your early game weakness by just being good at the game. If they want to keep the story easy for kids that’s cool, but there should be optional side missions that jack up the difficulty for all the fans that are adults. With the memory and performance of the switch they could make a game more similar to an earlier gen game but better with way more content in it and I think that would be a much more fun experience than a game like Scarlet and Violet.

Honestly, Pokémon should've stopped after ORAS. Mega Evolution helped out a lot of underwhelming Pokémon. Since SM, games relied too heavily on gimmicks. Gen 7 had Z-moves, Gen 8 had Dynamax, and Gen 9 had Tera. Also, Gen 7 and 9 have very underwhelming Pokémon (Turtonator and Iron Thorns are prime examples). Gen 8 had some good ones, though (Dragapult, for example). I stopped playing newer games since ORAS.

2:10 All these years later and people still say Sword and Shield was set up to fail because of the national dex being cut. Gen 3 did the same thing while making many Pokemon limited and/or paywalled. Yet, both gens 3 and 8 succeeded. I'm not saying either gens are the best, that's another topic, subjective at that, but Pokemon wasn't doomed just like it wasn't doomed/ruined when gen 6 rolled around. The Switch era of Pokemon games felt "held back" by Nintendo. In the beginning they didn't even want to give us a mainline or 'traditional' Pokemon game only giving us the weird mobile games which felt really off. Then when we did start getting games they felt watered down from the greatness of the extremely solid and beloved Gameboy / GBA era. We really never hit those highs that games like Pokemon Emerald gave us and I'm still waiting for the day that it feels that good again, maybe on Switch 2? Nintendo is not delivering lately.

I sum up gen 8 in this way SV - decent game, great dlc, horrible performance and balancing SWSH - below average game, good dlc, great performance and looks amazing MD remake - fine as is. Exactly what youd expect. Legends arceus - perfect starting point and a A/S tier game LGPE - very fun but RBY and FRLG make them feel unnecessary unless youre shiny hunting

Mainline Pokémon on the Switch has been a solid 5/10 if I’m being generous. All the games have been half baked and incomplete requiring you to buy the DLC to get the full Pokemon experience. Crazy for me to think that Sword and Shield are probably the “best” mainline Pokémon games on the Switch. Legends Arceus was a nice change of pace but honestly is way overrated and is only really decent on your first playthrough. Scarlett and violet were underbaked messes of a game technically and I wasn’t a fan of the game going open world since every RPG is open world now and it’s just not needed. Don’t get me started on the “Evil” team…. Absolutely garbage and just a tedious mess to go spam auto battle every time. I hope legends AZ evolves the Arceus formula because it really needs it. If they can somehow meld the modern formula with what Arceus did it may be a decent game.
