We decided to checkout Pokagon State Park in Angola Indiana. Very nice campground. A lot of fun things to do there. Super nice Beach area. We highly recommend checking it out. It was a very fun trip. Hope you enjoy the video. Please Like and Subscribe. Thanks for watching.
Pokagon State Park is located near Angola, just off I-69. The park was originally called Lake James State Park when proposed to be the fifth Indiana State Park in 1925. The name was changed to Pokagon State Park to acknowledge the rich Native American heritage of the state and region. Leopold and Simon Pokagon were father and son and the last two most notable leaders of the Potawatomi. The park’s Potawatomi Inn takes its name from these Native Americans, who made their home in the area. The inn, with its up-north fishing-lodge theme, is one of the Midwest’s most popular resorts and conference centers.
Being one of the state’s original parks, Pokagon features the unique work of the Civilian Conservation Corps, whose members lived and worked at Pokagon from 1934 to 1942. The “boys of the CCC” built the beautiful stone and log structures that dot the park landscape and provide accent to the rolling wooded hills, wetlands and open meadows.
Natural lakes created by glaciers that melted 10,000 to 15,000 years ago, highlight Steuben County, which has more lakes than any other Indiana county. The park is framed by Lake James and Snow Lake, which offer abundant opportunities for boating, swimming, fishing and scenic sunsets.
Pokagon is also Indiana State Parks’ winter wonderland, with cross-country ski rental, sledding, ice fishing and a twin-track toboggan run... “What a thrill”… That's what you'll say once you've experienced the quarter-mile, refrigerated toboggan run at speeds of 35-40 mph. The toboggan run operates weekends from the Friday after Thanksgiving through February, with extended hours during the Christmas holidays. Great overview of the park. Can you confirm whether the sites at the section you were in (100’s), particularly lake view sites, accommodate a motor home? The site size description indicates the size is right, but also states the road is narrow. Looks like backing in could be a challenge.
@TravelingBuckeyes
@TravelingBuckeyes 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching. Yes the road going in is tight. The sites are a good size. I wouldn’t recommend any camper over 34 feet. Thanks again. Safe travels.

Thanks for all your videos! We were there years ago when kids were young. We tent camped back then. It looks like we will have to give it another try. Bring the Grand kids next time. Looks like its much nicer now! We have a Roo hybrid but want to go to a Mini Lite. Any suggestions? We like an outside kitchen and room to sleep others. Under 30 feet though. Thanks! 😊✌

Thanks so much for watching - really appreciate it! There are so many models in the Mini Lite, some have bunk houses and I think there are a few with outdoor kitchens. We love ours and would highly recommend the Rockwood brand! You may want to look into the Rockwood Ultra Lights, they are a little longer in size.

I didn't catch where you stayed. looks like the 100 series. 5 sections. 100-500's The 100 would be tighter for a larger camper. We're within an hour from pokagon. Very nice will kept park and trails!! We've stayed here alot. We've visited the 100 but never camped there as we have a 35' and it would be tight to get back in there most sites. 200 section is non electric. Modern restrooms / showers in all sections.
